Perhaps, the overall taste does not suit our tastebuds, as we prefer a more flavourful taste.
The flagship store Awfully Chocolate Bakery & Cafe is a place for freshly handmade chocolate cakes, desserts, brunch & awfully good dinner.
It has a nice space that does not feel congested. The service is friendly. Prices, though not low, are reasonable.
I will definitely go there again! Do check them out if you're looking for nice egg benedicts near Katong or South Bridge road.
With pancakes, desserts, coffee and a decent range of classic cafe dishes on the menu, Group Therapy Coffee is a good option when we miss cafe food or crave a good weekend brunch. Online ordering is made simple and delivery, pick-up or takeaway from Group Therapy Coffee is fairly convenient. Now we can have artisanal coffee to wash down brunch nosh and feel hip and trendy in our pajamas at home.
In fact we think it is a great cafe in Katong for a nice daytime meal, a mid-day caffeine fix or a weekend brunch, so long as you are not expecting friendly banter with the staff as a form of therapy.
Neptune – Coffee Cafe at East Coast Road
The Neptune is a charming cafe in East Coast where we would be happy to go to for a good cup of coffee and reminisce about The Neptune Theatre of the topless revue fame or feel the wonder and excitement of young families eating together and playing with their topless babies.
Breakfast Grill is good breakfast and brunch spot in East Coast for yummy sammies, very good coffee and premium ice cream too.
Superb food and a relaxing ambiance, Breakfast Grill is definitely one of the most ideal spots for breakfast and lunch in the east. Will I travel for an hour to get there just to snag one of their sandwiches? Anything for Breakfast Grill.

The coffee here is by Allpress, one of my favourite New Zealand coffee roaster brands. You can also expect smoothies, cold pressed juices, tea, craft beer brewed locally by Brewlander, cocktails and wines.
Recommended by Eatbook.sg. The croissant was buttery, crispy and layered, while the satay chicken was slightly spicy and tasted of curry rather than satay sauce. Quite a normal cafe with usual offerings.
Ambling Turtle offers an interesting variety of Peranakan-inspired food for all day dining and good coffee. The prices are reasonable.
PS Cafe is one of those places to go when you feel like pampering yourself. In terms of price, it is a tad more than a regular restaurant. However, for the portion and the ambience, it is totally worth it.
Breakfast at Brawn & Brains Coffee East Coast is a pleasant and relaxed affair. It opens early and serves nice food and great coffee in a charming space.
Good and affordable Korean dishes at Jungyi Korean Food, along with friendly service. This is quite a hidden gem along East Coast Road.

Monks Brew Club Katong, a vibrant cafe in Singapore’s heart, offering competitively-priced menu items. Experience and amazing array of
Mei Yuen Restaurant’s slightly run-down appearance adds the charm of a bygone era to the food they serve. Their wonton mee is not immediately impressive, rather its selling point is how simple and basic it is. Consisting of just egg noodles, sliced char siew, a few wontons and caixin, Mei Yuen Restaurant’s signature dish gives you a really old school taste.
I thought quite a nice wanton mee, in an old school coffeeshop. The noodles were of the thicker type, bitey, in a sauce that had some sesame oil fragrance and ketchup sweetness. The char siew was thick, bitey, sweet and just slightly caramelised. The wantons were quite full, with nicely marinated meat and silky wanton skin. Sweet and slightly herbally soup. Overall nice old school Singaporean style wanton mee.
You can enjoy a variety of local food or Western dishes in air-conditioned comfort.
good coffee, tasty and reasonably priced food as well as friendly service make GRD CTRL a nice neighbourhood cafe.
How long more will this be kept a hidden gem secret, I am not so sure but a third visit is definitely on the cards for these pork chops.
The fritter was exceptionally crunchy with salt and herb peppered fries, I could have found the bistro for fish and chips!
Overall, our experience at Forty Hands East Coast Road is a good one; a place that east-siders had been looking forward to having around their neighbourhood, with crowds already thronging its premises on the very first weekend (or rather, the second day) of its operations.
nice spot in Katong spot for a night out; extensive food menu & Lunch Special at only $15 makes WINGS Bar & Cafe a great place for lunch too
The Katong and Joo Chiat areas are teeming with cafes. It is kind of becoming hard to differentiate one from another, but this latest cafe does stand out from the rest in terms of its offerings.
