What do We Like about Sunbather Coffee, Bangsar South? -Creative tasty fusion dishes
I believe this place specialises in desserts, though they served main meals for lunch. Since we are pretty full, so we opt for just one dessert: Tiramisu. The coco powder on top is quite strong,..
I ordered this Lamb Lasagna at MYR 27 nett and gave 3 quarter of it away because I was full after eating 1 quarter. I like the lamb taste and the big amount of greens that they put on this lasagna. This dish is only for those who love the strong taste of lamb.
The place is quite big, and quite a full house. The food did take quite a while to be served, so maybe that explains the full house 😁 The Masala tea is quite strong in Masala flavour. It was a..
A Thali Set at MYR 31.90+ (10% service charge = MYR 35.09 nett). This set consists of Fish Curry, Chicken Curry (Kadai Chicken), Lamb Curry (Lamb Roganjosh), Potato Curry (Alo Mutter), Okra Onion Stir Fry (Bindi do Pyaaza), Tomato Dal (Tomato Pappu Dal), Phirni dessert I ate all of the dessert but only a bit of the rice, butter naan, each of the savoury dishes and kept most of it for my other meals. The lamb is tender and the curries are very flavourful with the taste of different spices so I will definitely be back for their other dishes.
Hyderabad Nizam Biriyani (Chicken), 24.90 ringgit. I especially lurveee the biriyani. It is one of those dishes that had just the right amount of wetness, gooeyness and filled with flavor, to an extent that you can forego the gravies that came on the side because between the rice and the chicken – there was enough spices and flavors to go around. Know what I mean? That being said, the gravies were yummy too. The dhal was delicious and most importantly thick. I dislike watered down dhal – it is gross. Then, there was mooru/yogurt and pickled, sweetish vegetables. It was tasty enough that I ate the 3 sides on its own. I had the biriyani rice and the chicken by itself. The chicken was da bomb. They sure were generous with the meat here – 2 large pieces. Imagine those spice infused tender, meaty chicken + flavorful, moist biriyani rice – very nice. It was a satisfying hearty meal.
Atas jasa baik waiter dia melayan kami, aku recommend untuk semua orang pegi melepak di sini !
Chilli Cheese Fries @ RM 14 One of the recommended item in my list if you are looking for something to much first. Love the slight saltiness from the cheese, gravy is thick enough to coat onto the frieds, mince chicken is just enough go along with the amount of fries.
無意間發現一家坐落在Nexus Bangsar South 的藝術咖啡廳,室內環境明亮及幽靜,優質的咖啡豆產生的香氣鋪蓋正間咖啡廳,為每位客人在上班前都提起精神來。
I ordered lontong as I wanted to try it the previous time at MYR 12.30 nett. I like all the ingredients - tempeh, hard boiled egg, beancurd puffs, glass noodles, compressed rice, squid sambal, and lots of other vegetables in the coconut milk rich gravy. If only the gravy is less salty then I would order this again.
I could not decide on what to order and in the end, I went with the Nasi Himpit Soto at MYR 12.30 nett. I like the soft compressed rice cubes. The broth tastes rich with spices which I cannot recognised but it was not those hot and spicy type. You can choose to have Soto with noodles too.
I ordered the Nasi Lemak Biasa set meal – I got what I ordered, it certainly did fill my stomach to keep me going throughout the day. Taste wise however, it was okayla, not bad. Perhaps if you fancy something more yummy and not ‘biasa’, then you would be better off ordering items from their normal menu and not the Breakfast Set. Feel me? I’ve tried their Nasi Lemak Ayam from their normal Menu and I loved it. It was delicious. So yea. Same thing with the Chee Cheong Fun, it was okayla. My friend wanted that dish and that was what he got, similarly, I wanted Nasi Lemak and that was what I got.
The Opera Koffie have a thick cinnamon taste, but the ice cream just melted away too fast. Egg Hollandaise Duck: the taste of the sauce is quite strong, and the smoked duck breast is salty, and..
Rijst-Tafel Platter, 23.80 ringgit This dish came with a lil bit of everything. It consisted of several items – rice + cajun fish + pepper chicken + prawns + pickles + sambal + potato waffles + beans + fried egg. . It tasted good. This may be a popular Dutch dish but if I were to eat it without any prior knowledge of what it was, I’d definitely assume that this was a westernized Asian dish. First of all, I loveeeeeeee the sambal. It was very similar to a nasi lemak sambal. Spicy yet a lil sweet-ish. The difference was in terms of texture, this particular sambal was thick, dense and slick. Me like. The chicken was boneless and tender. The fish was well seasoned. The potato waffle was surprisingly yummy. I enjoyed this platter. As mentioned above, the Rijst Tafel offered me a lil bit of everything on a plate.
Verdict: There were some good & some bad, but it was mostly good. Service was ok and the ambience was great, certainly a place worthy to spend a meal on.
Take a look at this Fried Chicken with Waffles. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffles came crisps but later turned soft. The chicken is salty, tomatoes are souring and they combine well with the somewhat tasteless waffle. The texture and taste combinations are surprisingly good.
Thirdwave, at Nexus Bangsar South has been one of my must-visit spots on my #CafeHoppingMalaysia exploration for some time now, after hearing and seeing so many foodies visiting there in recent times. I was there last week with fellow foodies and friends to check out their latest lunch menu. Check out what they have to offer below.
I had my salmon gravlax bagel cold. The bagel was chock full of ingredients; featuring cucumber slices on one side and salmon gravlax on the other, a generous cream cheese spread, and capers to add a salty/tangy dimension. The bagel had a good texture as well. For small eaters, I think this is good enough as a light brunch/lunch meal.
Botanica Deli at The Verticals, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur now serves weekday dinner! Nothing about rice bowl, salad, soup, steak or spaghetti, but huge, hearty burgers that will make your dinner time merrier with some bur-gembira moments!
Peanut Butter & Banana Toast, 10.50 ringgit. Man, this is my favourite peanut butter fix. Do you see the thickness of it? The peanut better? The bananas? Ooooo man! Trust me, this would totally do it for you if you’re like me and in need for a fix. They sure are generous in their filling. You would really get a generous amount of peanut butter and by generous – I mean loads of it. Then there are the banana slices. Loveeeee it! It totally fills you up. I almost always only manage to gobble up half of it and the other half is packed and taken back home to eat later. Eating the whole thing up would just fill u up to a point that you cannot move? That is how generous they are with their fillings. Loooovvveee it!
Since the girls wanna have something healthy so they hit on Eggs Cocotte @ RM 27. Thought this is just way overprice for such an item. Nothing to shout about.
Pesto Chicken Panini, 25 ringgit. This was delicious. If you like pesto like I do, you would love this dish. You’d get a good mix of crunch and gooeyness. Do expect a generous portion of grilled chicken with pesto sauce + mozzarella cheese + nuts + tomato and of course, the panini bread. I loveeee mozzarella and throw in grilled chicken with pesto sauce, oooo man, pesto lovers sure would love this. I sure did.
Eggs Benedict with Pork Bacon, Spicy Potatoes RM26 Settled down with Eggs Benedict as we wanted to try their legendary spicy roasted potatoes. Most eggs benedict in KL are served without any sides, mostly just fresh greens but Forty Hand’s version has a heap of potatoes. Very generous portion indeed. Secret homemade chilli mixture brushed all over potato cubes then send to roast. End result looks fiery hot but actually quite manageable spiciness. Mildly spicy for us. Like how the potatoes cubes still remain a soft crunch instead of creamy tender like braise sauce-soaked potatoes.

The Pork Escalope has a slice of pork bacon inside it with cream cheesy sauce. I could not finish the pork so I took half home for dinner.
Fusilli pasta with tangy avocado dressing with tomatoes, sweet peppers, spinach, rocket, peas, walnuts and feta cheese at MYR 23+ (10% service charge = MYR 25.30 nett). Added a grilled chicken thigh for MYR 6+ (MYR 6.60 nett). Total price is MYR 31.90 nett. Very tasty even without the chicken as I like the combination of spinach, rocket and feta cheese.
Margherita Pizza (M) @ RM 21.90 We had initially wanted to order two pizza's but the waiter informed us that one is good for two. Luckily she did stop us as it was really huge. The Margherita Pizza comes with cherry tomatoes, grada padano, mozzarella and cheddar cheese. I found the ingredients to be good and even the bread was soft and lovely. Together, it was definitely a good one and my rating for this shall be 8/10.
