If you planning to visit Restoran Siaw Kwee, this is Claypot Salted Fish with Pork Belly is a must order. What we like about this is the balanced taste and the tender texture of the pork belly. Overall this is spot on and when it is served in the claypot, you can smell the aroma of the pork and the salted fish. Remember to mix everything together to combine the flavours and this goes well with the rice.
Google and check out Restaurant Siaw Kwee 加影萧家辣汤 as it is one of the recommended ones in links and decided to try it out. Since heard many of my friends mention that Kajang is famous for “Lat Thong” (spicy soup on my own interpretation).
This is a dish that is unique to this restaurant. I have not seen this kind of preparation in any other restaurant. The ribs were large and meaty and the salted egg batter was heavenly. A must try dish at this restaurant. For the portion, I felt that the price was acceptable despite this being much higher than the other dishes that we had this afternoon. Taste wise, I would rate this at 10/10.
Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun (Small) @ RM 6.50 The portion is huge even though we went for the smaller version. I think this is good to feed an average eater. What liked most about their preparation is the freshness of the ingredients. Even the shrimp was so fresh and tasty and the blend of sauces and chilli paste was heavenly. 9/10 shall be my rating for this dish.
Ten Hup Chee Cheong Fun is very popular with the locals and you can find many people either dining in or taking it away. You can ask any locals about the famous chee cheong fun and they will recommend you Ten Hup Chee Cheong Fun. You can find us dining there occasionally early in the morning having a cup of coffee with a big plate of Hong Kong style chee cheong fun. This is a must visit place for breakfast in Kajang.
I would say this is the best Hong Kong style Chee Cheong Fun in Kajang Town with reasonable price. There is a choice between fresh prawns, Char Siu or a mix of prawns and Char Siu fillings for the Chee Cheong Fun. I ordered a big portion for myself and a small portion for my boy of the mixed fillings type and this order did not disappoint us at all! The Chee Cheong Fun was very silky smooth and fine. They were very generous with the fillings, you may request for extra the sauce and sambal if you crave for heavier and spicier taste.
The food overall is good but prepare for the long wait due to the packed restaurant. The people here are friendly and the food prices here is above average if you compare to other restaurants in Kajang but it is cheaper than restaurants in Kuala Lumpur or Petaling
We don’t dare to say this is the best pork noodles we tasted but we enjoyed the taste. If you are staying in Kajang, maybe you tried their pork noodles or if you have not, give it a try. The owners are honest people and we have been patronizing them for years.
Char Kuey Teow @ RM 6.00 The Char Kuey Teow stall is located near the entrance. He makes it the Penang way and I find the flavours to be pretty good. In fact, it's one of the good ones that I have come across in Kajang. He doesn't add cockles, but he does add some Fish Cake, Shrimps and Bean Sprouts. 8/10 would be my rating for this dish.
Restoran Fortuna Palace Seafood is one of the few restaurants in Kajang that offers good food with reasonable prices. The food is consistently tasty in most of our visit to the restaurant. On top of the food we had, they many other specialities and sometimes you might bumped to us.
My 'Jalan Jalan Cari Makan' gastronomic adventure has brought my foodie family and me to this part of town to a Chinese Seafood Restaurant located in Taman Kajang Prima, Kajang. Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant makes it presence known to the locals for its fine authentic and premium cuisine more than 16 years ago way back in 2001.
Good food and reasonable food pricing, Restoran Fei Chui is one of the must visit Chinese restaurants in Kajang. The food we ordered are just simple food and they do offer many unique and signature dishes you might want to try. If you never been to Restoran Fei Chui, maybe you should on your next trip to Kajang. This is not a sponsored review.
Overall, Restoran Cheong Kee Bak Kut Teh Kajang is comfort food and that is the reason why I will come back from time to time. You can find many regular customers coming back from time to time. Price wise it is competitive since the price of pork has gone up significantly over the past few years.
Bak Kut Teh @ RM 13.00. For the price, the portion was good and it came with a mix of lean meat (you could ask for bone or other cuts as well), Button Mushrooms, Enoki Mushrooms, Fuchok and some Tofupok. I felt that the soup here had a slightly stronger body compared to Hock Kee and overall as a total dish, it was very satisfying. Loved the mix of ingredients and the tea as well. My rating for this shall be 8/10.
Not many people have tried this dish but I would boldly say that this is one of the best preparation for this particular dish that I have tasted. Seriously, this was some awesome Spare Ribs Curry. It is so good that I would recommend this over the rest of the dishes that these guys are famous for. 10/10 would be my rating for this.
This is the famous Hot Soup that had made a name for itself in Kajang. Comes with lots of Pork slices, ginger, pepper and a whole load of other ingredients. For me, it wasn't really too spicy but it was sufficient to get me profusely sweating. Lovely blend of flavours that just makes you wanting for more. 9/10 is what I shall be rating this dish.
Their Curry Mee was truly awesome. I loved the curry itself and the bowl of noodles came with lot's of add on's. This was surely the highlight of this restaurant and my rating for this shall be 9/10.
I ordered the small bowl and it was priced at RM 5.30 . Really worth it as it came with lots of add on's like Cockles, Fish Balls, Fish Cake, Tofu and Char Siew. The curry itself was so thick and tasty. And a must add here is their homemade signature chili flakes which is added to your taste. I went for a spoonful since I like it spicy. Overall, a very delicious preparation and I would rate this Curry Mee at 8/10.
Overall, the taste of the food is here is pretty mild and usual. The price of the food here is pretty reasonable. Compare to all the pepper soup restaurants we went, the taste of the hot pepper soup at Restoran Siaw Jia is pretty mild. Same goes to the salted fish with pork belly and hua tio chicken. Maybe we are used with strong flavor food from the nearby restaurants as we do find the taste of the food is pretty usual or ordinary. This is Restoran Siaw Jia Kajang Pepper Soup.
You can choose the type of noodles and I went for Mee Hoon. The soup was very tasty and their Fish Balls were amazingly good. The seafood items were cooked just right and it added to the taste of the broth. Overall a brilliant dish and my rating for this shall be 9/10.
Similarly, the Prawn Mee stall seemed to be new and I tried that too. I would say that they were very generous with the add on's. There were shrimps, sliced Fish Cake, Fish Balls and some sliced pork and the broth was pretty good. This is definitely one of the better Prawn Mee's that I have tasted in a food court. 9/10 shall be my rating for this preparation
This is the first time that I am coming across Wantan Mee that comes with Char Siew and minced pork. Seemed like a hybrid between Kolo and Konloh Mee but taste wise it was very impressive. I would give this dish 9/10. The dumplings were very good too. Soft, chewy and juicy dumplings made just right. Definitely one that deserves a rating of 9/10.
Loong Curry Kopitiam Taman Berjaya Kajang is definitely a hidden gam. Parking can be a challenge during peak hours but there are always parking a few minutes away. The curry mee is up to expectation and will come back for more.
Overall, Restoran Fook Loy style of cooking is more towards traditional style. The food prices here are value for money and the food taste here is decent. We do except the food here to be better due to so many good recommendations by our friends. Maybe we didn’t order their signature dishes so we might come back again for a revisit next time.
Overall, we love the food here as the chicken is tasty while the food prices are reasonable. Our advice is do come early to avoid disappointment. Some people say the chicken rice here is better than Ipoh, what do you think?
Dry Bak Kut Teh @ RM 15.00. For Kajang, I would say that it is expensive. I would have expected this to be around RM 10 to RM 12 maximum. If I were to comment on the taste of the dish, it was good. Lovely cuts of meat were cooked in a thick spicy gravy. They have also added a lot of dried shrimps which enhanced the taste. Definitely some good stuff. Also, this comes with a small bowl of tea since it was the dry version. I would rate this at 8/10.
The Scrambled Eggs were delicious and so was their Sweet & Sour Pork. Both were made with generous amounts of ingredients and they tasted excellent. My rating shall be 9/10 for both.
Our expectation for char kuey teow is low so we enjoyed this Kajang Penang Lang Char Kuey Teow very much. Sometimes, you might spot me having this early in the morning. Thanks for reading!
My family has been dining at this restaurant for almost 10 years in Kajang. From their original location at the corner house, they moved twice before moving back to 1, Jalan Berjaya Baru 1, Taman Berjaya Baru. This Chinese restaurant has gone thru a lot and survived the two years of MCO.
