It basically consisted of belacan paste fried rice + Nyonya fried chicken + vege + papadum and belacan sambal on the side. I got exactly what I wanted, perhaps even better, what else can I say

Soup is pack with flavour, you can taste the rice wine, heat from the ginger, slightly fragrant from soy sauce, sweetness from the clamp. It is indeed a satisyfying bowl for your lunch. It would taste even better if it is on rainy day as a sip of the soup could keep your tummy warm.

The Char Kuey Teow was really good. I can understand why many food bloggers rated Lai Foong to have one of the Top 10 Fried Kuey Teow in downtown KL. The noodles were well cooked and tasty, came accompanied with egg + cockles + fishcakes + Chinese sausages + lard + prawns + taugeh. Here, when you order LARGE, you’d get LARGE, Lots of noodles. I ate it all anyway since I was really hungry. Burp!

The Hokkien Mee was drier than usual (their signature style), pleasantly aromatic with a subtle saltiness. It derived most of the flavor from the pork meat, offal and prawns that went into frying the noodle as well. We tried two versions, one offal and the other without, and the one with offal was noticeably tastier. Overall, the Hokkien Mee was alright, not great but definitely better than what Kim Lian Kee churns out – by a mile.

Interestingly, netizens gave high ratings for this Wan Ton Mee stall. But today, 50 minutes of LRT ride to KL, with high expectation but left with utter disappointment, not sure why this is one of the famous or "must-eat" stalls when in KL Petaling Street, as many touted it as even the "Best" Wan Ton Mee in town!

Despite what we felt about Koon Kee, there are surprisingly many good reviews about their noodles on various sites notably TripAdvisor and Foursquare. Maybe it’s due to nostalgia. Or simply because these people have never had a proper wantan mee before. In conclusion, don’t waste your time here and I bet the wantan mee stall in your neighborhood coffee shop could prepare a better tasting one.

Claypot Pearl Noodle (Lou Shu Fan or Rat’s Tail Noodle) The dish itself was incredibly tasty, although it could have done with a little more cooking time to get that ‘charred’ flavour. The noodles tasted more boiled and lacked the claypot flavour. Still, very good, and satisfying.

The food arrived rather quickly, we didn’t have to wait long. Upon tasting the food, it was quite decent. The chicken meat was juicy and tender. They provided large pieces of meat, which I liked. The char siew was okay, I think what makes char siew good or bad is a matter of individual preference, I generally like the outer side layer to be crispy, with little fat and more meat … which was not the case here. The rice was a lil lumpy, not the usual chicken rice texture. Both dishes were decent, not bad but definitely not the best out there.

The star here is the Soya Sauce Chicken Rice (RM8.80). We requested for chicken breast meat. The meat was very tender and rice drizzled with dark soy sauce was decent. Their chilli sauce is nice and punchy. There are also some braised soy beans, but no cucumber was given with our order. The chicken served was slightly too cold for my liking, otherwise a pretty decent plate of chicken rice.

Feng Cheng Sui Kao, 11.50 ringgit. This was surprisingly delicious. Between the two broths, I was more interested in the Tom Yum option. Just the anticipation of the spice and hotness left me all giddy. I assumed this would taste like the soup that usual accompanied chicken rice? It’s just there to provide some additional taste? Not really something you would drink up till the bowl is empty but boy, was I wrong. This soup was thicker than I anticipated and packed with flavors. Just deliciously different. As you can see, we decided to try the Mee Xian noodles here and it was a good choice. I liked it and the Sui Kao – da bomb! The dish came with 6 huge sui kao. Eating it with the soup and noodle was truly delicious. Yum!

Overall, we love the spicy tom yum noodles in Yu Noodle Cuisine. But for clear soup base, we till prefer GO Noodle House version. Price for both the brands are similar, within RM15. However if you pick their seafood toppings, it will be another story. More expensive. Like Japanese scallop noodles is over RM30.

Porridge was smooth and has very clean flavour. Tasted like it was simply salted. Hence, a dash or two of soy sauce is essential. The crispy intestine was enjoyable as well as the other thinly slices parts such as tongue and meat. Maybe because porridge flavour itself was non-heavy nor was it full-bodied, then that allowed the flavour of the raw fish slices to shine through.
