Exactly the same menu and Dim Sum choices, and items sampled today were above average. My opinion, quite dependable Dim Sum location, so far!
Overall, we had a good meal at Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum Restaurant and are quite happy with our dim sum.
Most of the hawkers are managed by locals, perhaps except for the Gungzhou Cheong Fun!
The Mutton Curry Noodles was good. I enjoyed the curry very much and it was good to even go with rice. However, I felt that the mutton itself was overdone and it ended up being too soft. Otherwise, it was a good dish. Do be careful with the Sambal as it is quite spicy. For me, it was an experience that was worth trying once.
My pick would be their Noodle, Dumpling and Meatball. * Must try in the Old Sichuan Steamboat.
It's a bonus that you can ejoy hotpot in a fully air conditioned place!
They also offer two XXL crabs (1.2kg +-) for RM99 only! Super worth it!
Overall, I like the noodles very much and the takeaway portions I bought back to the hotel still tasted good even though it was cold. While the char siew was no longer KL’s best as I remembered, it is still good enough to make me want to return for a plate of old-school traditional char siew wanton noodles
Club Sandwich" was definitely above average taste and presentation; sandwiched with lots of vegetables, egg and ham; very nice!
Live Crab Porridge ( RM 78 (S) | RM 108 (M)| RM 128 ( L) One of the signatures in Chao Shan is of course their porridge. Their brooth are being cooked for hours ensuring that they are deliciously served to the table. And in here, one can choose their selection of porridge where they have Frog Porridge, Oyster Porridge, Live Crab Porridge, Live Lobster Porridge and many more. The porridge comes velvety delicious with the aromatic taste in it. They are just so good and I could not resist for the second bowl.
Wat Tan Hor (滑蛋河) in Cantonese means Wat = Smooth, Tan = Egg, Hor = Hor Fun (broad rice noodles) refers to stir fried broad rice noodles in smooth egg gravy. We prefer a mix of mee hoon and hor fun so it is called ying yong. This dish costs MYR 9.90+ (6% SST = MYR 10.50 nett) for 1 pax.
Also bought a big portion of deep fried Akame Fish at MYR 23.50+ (6% SST = MYR 24.91 nett). The spring onions, chilli, red onions, gingers garnishing gave the fish the taste of our favourite deep fried salt and chilli pepper squid. Akame Fish is also known as Japanese Barramundi or Lates japonicus or Japanese Lates. Tasty!
My bowl of unfried fish noodles at MYR 12.5+ (MYR 13.25 nett). I prefer non fried fish because I am cutting down on deep fried food.
Fresh fish fillet soup (no noodles) at MYR 11.90 nett which is the same price as those choices with noodles in them. There are a lot of bones in the fish fillets. Many prefer deep fried fish pieces to this.
Sichuan Cuisine at Kuchai Lama is a new hidden discovery by us and it’s Chuan Xiang Ge (川香阁 ). As we found out, the food is authentic Sichuan Cuisine
Besides that, lamb slices is this shop signature. Love they gammy taste of lamb yet not too strong but nice enough.

The outdoor seating along the walkway are particularly comfortable for morning breakfast, but parking starts to become challenging after 8am!
It has been about 2 years that we ate the roast duck at Soon Fatt Beijing Roast Duck, Kuchai Lama. This time we ordered half a roast duck (MYR 35 nett) but took most of it back home and it lasted us for many meals.
Dried Bak Kut Teh in Claypot One of the crowd’s favourite is their dry bak kut teh. Their bkt comes awesomely good where they comes with the kick of light spiciness and the aromatic hint of the dry chilies in it.
From ingredients to seafood mostly felt like they kept in the fridge for decade!!
