Located in the heart of Farlim, Penang, Genting Restaurant stands as a testament to the rich culinary heritage of the region. With its unassuming facade and inviting aromas wafting through the air, this eatery has been drawing locals and visitors alike for its delectable Jawa Mee. What truly sets this place apart, however, is not just its scrumptious offerings but also its unwavering commitment to providing affordable street food without compromising on taste or quality.
This so cheap. Where else can you get such cheap Jawa Mee? Haha
Well everything here is good and the pricing is also very reasonable. Thumb up to Dragon Phoenix Seafood.
One of the delicious Penang Hokkien Mee that famous to local is located in Sin Hup Aun. Selling for 20 over years the taste of the Hokkien Mee is very classic it blended well for the prawn and pork ribs flavour. The chilli paste for the noodle is stir fried before for better aroma.
One big reason why I prefer this stall of Mee Goreng over others is due to sweetness. I would prefer something not too sweet but flavorful enough. The noodles will be quite spicy for some so please do ask for less-spicy version upon ordering if you can't take spicy food. As for seafood lovers, they do throw in some generously sliced Cuttlefish for the extra bite. You would have noticed that the noodles were quite wet and moist as well; yes, the noodles were moist. It's just my personal preference that I prefer wet version of Mee Goreng over the overly dried version. Nevertheless, the Wok Hei still complemented the noodles well and it certainly enhanced the flavor of the entire dish. Thumbs up for this.
Normally after 4.00pm there were a large crowd around the stall. Some customers were sitting in their cars, standing around the stall and sitting along the edge concrete drain to enjoy the mee goreng.
Leong Hee Seafood (龙禧海鲜小馆) is a proud Penang brand that stands the test of time, established in the 70's, Leong Hee specializes in catering services (wedding or occasions); the extended branch at Paya Terubong is well-received by the residents living nearby. Like most Chu Char places in Penang, it offers quite an extensive local Chinese delights but at unbeatable prices. The place is often full on weekends and the regular patrons would make their reservation in advance so if you have something particular in mind, it is suggested that you make advance reservation to beat the queue too. Leong Hee Seafood is a stall operating in 1997 Coffee House along Jalan Paya Terubong.
Mookata Thai Traditional BBQ Steamboat 滿鍋大 is a stall at Kedai Kopi 1997 that opens during dinner hours. Here's the location.
This bowl of Curry Noodle is actually full with ingredient and is worth the money paid.
Here's the location.
If you want a local Penang version of loh mee, you can visit Kim Leng Loh Mee at Restoran Joo Huat at Perak Road Penang.
1119 Curry Mee Stall at Joo Huat Cafe is one of the curry mee selling in Penang that served non-santan (no coconut milk) at their base. The taste of the curry mee is as good as those that have included santan and it is packed with nostalgic and classic flavor. The blood cockles are fresh and juicy, while the soup is thick and aromatic, and the chili paste is packed with pungent. Overall the curry mee is worth the taste
The pancake taste good, the outer layer of the pancake is crunchy and the ingredient inside it is good too, though simple but I like it.
Reasons to Kota Dine & Coffee @ Fort Cornwallis: an experience founded in history taking guests from the past to the present with contemporary cooking techniques founded on Penang flavours all in the grounds of the historic Fort Cornwallis; the food is beautiful, delicious and very reasonably priced; remember to use your entrance ticket to the fort for RM10 food credit for each diner..
As you can spot, their food is instant love.
他们位于槟城古迹Fort Cornwallis 里头的纯白玻璃屋,而菜单是以娘惹餐结合西方精致料理文化,给大家带来与众不同的娘惹用餐体验。
The coffee spaghetti was made with creamy coffee sauce and chorizo pork sausage. 🍝 It tasted surprisingly good. I originally expected this to be more of a novelty dish but it was rich and delicious, with an aftertaste of roasted coffee beans and pepper
这一家cafe超级大一间;结合roastery, cafe, restaurant和academy在同一个屋檐下
I like the food here and also the environment.
Fatty Dragon Curry Mee, originally from Kuantan Road. Is now operating at Genting Cafe. Packed with patrons and diners, this is the curry mee that need to queue for the flavorful indulge.
Overall, this CCF is not for us. But it is quite popular as most tables had a plate when we were here. If you’re in the area, do give it a try as it might be suited to your tastebuds. Taste is subjective and personal, after all.
The Curry Mee costs a whopping RM 4 for small portion, and if you want prawns, recommended to order the medium one at RM 4.80. The chilli is just incredible but it was not as oily as others. The best thing about Penang Curry Mee is we have a lot of ingredients like pig blood, cuttlefish, bean sprouts, cockles and beancurd. By 12.30 pm, they have finished 1 big tank of curry soup.
Stepping into Ah Wang Cafe 阿旺咖啡 feels like a nostalgic journey back in time. Each sip of their Hainanese coffee is a delightful reminder of rich flavors and comforting aromas. The homemade kaya, crafted from a traditional recipe, spreads its authentic taste on freshly baked bread, making every bite a cherished experience. And let's not forget the irresistible nasi lemak that leaves taste buds yearning for more. Ah Wang Cafe isn't just a place; it's a sanctuary for those seeking a taste of cherished memories and culinary delights.
Ah Wang Cafe is one of the Cafes that is hidden from the main road of Tanjung Tokong. Despite the hidden location, Ah Wang Cafe is well known to the public for its famous kaya butter toast and Hainanese coffee for 4 decades. The kaya here that is homemade, is very aromatic and rich in taste. The Hainanese coffee here is also very thick and nice in fragrance. Besides those classic delicacies, croissants, buns, and new mixed drinks are also the hot selling cakes here.
The specialty offered by Ah Wang cafeteria is their homemade kaya, sandwiching in between the breads. It comes with a custardy texture and the sweetness is well balanced. Often time, it comes accompanied with butter, or better known as Roti Kahwin. Their homemade kaya is available for sale too.
76 Coffee Stall is famous for its coffee art. For the price of RM2 or so for a cup of coffee, you get to choose a coffee art. Other than that, 76 Coffee Stall is also famous for their half boiled eggs and kaya butter toasts. For those looking for food that is more filling, the nasi lemak is also a good option, which ranges from anchovies to prawns and sambal to curry versions. If you are looking for a good spot for breakfast or lunch, this would be a great option.
For me, i personally like the Coffee, Nasi Lemak and Kaya Toast, you may try these next time when you are here. In terms of price, it is reasonable !
除了Nasi Lemak之外,其实档口还有其他本地糕点,你都可以慢慢一样样买来吃。
The toast boasts a crisp exterior from toasting while retaining a pleasantly soft and slightly chewy interior. The highlight, undoubtedly, is the contrast between the creamy, velvety texture of the half-boiled egg and the satisfying crunch of the toast. It's an experience reminiscent of the simple joy of dipping bread into a perfectly boiled egg.
Roti Bakar Hutton Lane is one of the local's favourite breakfast spot in George Town, Penang for a simple classic delicious roti bakar (toast), spread with kaya (coconut jam) and butter, topped with two jiggly half-boiled eggs
Roti Bakar Georgetown (RM4.00) is a healthy breakfast meal which consists of buttered toast and soft-boiled eggs.
This is yet the best White Curry Noodle I have had in Penang, noodle was perfectly cooked with tasty soup "white color" (optional addition of extra chili), the bowl comes with Sotong slices, Fresh cockels as well as QQ Duck blood (instead of Pork blood). Another dish, the 白斩鸡 Deboned Boiled Chicken with Soy Sauce is definitely a must try, one of the best 滑鸡 I have ever tried.
Hola! The transformation is done and there comes a reddish colour of curry mee. It emits a strong essence of curry taste and a pleasant aroma, with the spiciness level can be adjusted depending on the amount of chilli paste you have added. Beware though as too much of the chilli paste may cause choking as it is real spciy! That is why they named it Hot Bowl!
A surprise finding here is they serve the prawn crackers with Asam Soup (RM 5.90) which is uncommon in Penang island. Usually, these prawn crackers can only be found in laksa served in Kulim, Nibong Tebal or Parit Buntar. Having these crunchy snacks in the meal here is an enjoyment, though luxury.
The Hokkien mee is absolutely the one to order.
Just in time to start off the most wonderful time of the year. Head over to OO White Coffee and show some love.
Affordable and yummy breakfast available at Batu Lanchang, this place is known to many by breakfast under the tree but the actual name is ROTI by Golden Bowl.
Loved the Salted Cheese Series which sounds off putting however it tastes amazing.
Having all these special and tasty food under one roof is awesome, I can pick and match what I want to eat from their menu, then enjoy a good relaxing breakfast under big shady tree.
There is a range of main dishes should you need something to fill your stomach and we enjoyed Smoked Duck Creamy Mushroom Linguine (RM 24) much. This dish offers the traits of carbonara, which is a tad creamy and it had the slight briny smoked duck to balance the dish. Whenever you feel like having an extra dose of salt, take the unique parmesan chip and have a small bite of it. It will fill your oral cavity with a pleasant cheese of cheese immediately.
The next time if you're looking for a spot to sit back and relax over coffee or a spot for a delicious meal with family and friends, pop over to Coffee Signature, Penang.
环境装潢也很时尚高雅,用餐舒适且舒服。 是与好友一起来聊八卦是个不错的选择。
We really enjoyed the apom manis here! While the claypot cooking method is super exciting – the apom were actually stellar! The hoppers were very fragrant with a nice soft pillowy centre, and lovely browned edges.
Try their Prawn Noodles and other delicacies in this old flagship of a coffee shop in Georgetown.
There is the sour Penang Assam Laksa, with rice noodles in a tangy fish broth made of serai (lemongrass), chillies, tamarind and fish flakes. It is best eaten with a hearty spoonful of accompanying hae koe (shrimp paste).
The taste of the Ngao Lam Mee is still very traditional and classic. This stall has been around for decades. The flavorful and thick beef stock is best to eat especially during rainy season. Cooked with ginger slices and some herbs and simmer in long hours, this beef brisket taste so good and tender. I really hope that this taste continue to pass down to coming generations.
Beside the traditional bak chang, Cintra Food Corner also famous with Cantonese’s version of dumpling which is made of beans. For those that prefer healthier version, you can always order Japanese rice dumpling too.
However at Kedai Kopi Kampung Malabar, beside all the food selling here are excellent the coffee here is great too. This is one of the shops that you can visit if you are a coffee picker. The coffee powder here is a mix of local and robusta coffee which made the aroma and the flavor thick and strong.
