I like this Black color Charcoal Lao Sha Bao...yummy....
The Promenade is one of the latest dining places in Bayan Baru.
One of my favorite dishes is the steamed glutinous rice 糯米饭. It is certainly not a dish I expected to find in a restaurant. Unlike the more common lor mai kai, this humble dish of lor mai fan is served with only dried shrimps, roasted peanuts, and spring onions. The sticky rice turned out well with firm chewy texture. Steamed glutinous rice RM7.50nett
Poached Hor Fun with Fish. – RM7/- This dish is very similar to the Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun found in all Tim Sum Place, Basically Hor Fun and Fish Slices poached and topped with soya sauce. Quite enjoyable by itself
Basically food is self serve, with on occasion visitation by a server carrying a tray of a single type of Tim Sum. What available here are similar in terms of verity and taste with HQ, however with subtle difference.
Braised Duck Meat, believe the duck meat must be braised for long as it fully absorb the sauce flavor and the bone easily fall of from bone, it is so soft and delicious.
Tai Tong Restaurant – Dim Sum at George Town Penang Malaysia
Many have said that this is one of the "Famous Dim Sum" in Penang!
Carrot cakes, taro dumpling and egg tarts were above average, where as the rest of the items were mediocre
Canning Dim Sum Express is now open for Dine in again, so you may have your favorite dim sum comfortably inside of Canning Dim Sum Express again and what is more awesome is that they are now certified HALAL.
Canning Dim Sum 店是一间不需要过多介绍的餐厅,因为它是怡保一间以无猪肉点心而闻名的餐厅。
The ambiance of the restaurant makes it a really good spot for catching up with friends and family.
Dining here is nice, in terms of food, there are a lot of different dim sum to choose from. Basically, you will be spoiled for choice here. Every types of food that a Dim Sum restaurant should have Maxim Dim Sum has it. It is not only that they have many different types of Dim Sum but the taste is tasty too. I enjoy every dish of Dim Sum that i order ranging from the Shumai all the way to their Egg Tart.
Lo Mai Kai (Glutinous Chicken Rice) is my favourite dish so it is a must to order it.
Yam cakes and egg tarts were probably saviour of the morning but the rest, particularly chee cheong fun and har gao definitely need some refinement in terms of taste
Overall the food is just so so. Most of the people are here just for the quantity. Not the quality. If it hits long weekend, this place is like a warzone. Everything have to fight for it. Fight for table, fight for dim sum. Crazy!
Here's the location.
If there is a particular food that leaves us the most impression, it would be their Teochew Fried Noodle. It is not listed on the menu but once you ask the crew, they will tell you whether it is available. Noodles were fried to al-dente and seasoned nicely.
Compared to Tai Tong and Tho Yuen, Leong Kee seems more of a local haunt. A place for local elderly to gather and chill out in the early mornings with hot chinese tea and some local dim sum. I like my morning here!
Dim sum is generally ok here, so drop by here to get your craving for dim sum satiated.
Equally interesting was the Egg Tarts... instead of the customary flaky pastry, Leong Kee's was somewhat between biscuit and flaky pastry. It was denser than expected yet, with the flaky-buttery texture.... not that it was bad but something unusual
My personal favorite here is their fried Tua Pan Koay Teow but i heard many people recommend their Curry Noodles. The Curry Noodles is spicy and you can mix with Bihun and Noodles. The serving size is not big. If you are not a fan of pork blood curd, remember to inform them not to put it in as it will always be serve with pork blood curd. Overall dining in here is nice but the service is a little slow.
As for taste wise, it appears to be lackluster for us and probably we will return if we were too lazy to commute to elsewhere for a morning dim sum.
There will always be a time every now and again where one might crave for something soupy and spicy, and that’s when one is due to enjoy a steamboat meal. Several have mushroomed across the state of Penang over the last couple of years. One that particularly stands out is Chong Qing Lau Huo Guo Steamboat 重庆老火锅, located on the bustling Kelawai Road.
Chong Qing Lao Huo Guo (重庆老火锅) is not new in Penang, the brand is known to serve Sze Chuan-styled Hot Pot and has resonated amongst night owls looking for late night suppers (the restaurant operates till late night). But it has since introduced something different from their core product (Hot Pot). We were attracted by the flashy banner hung outside of the new branch at Kelawei Road... that says "Dim Sum available in the mornings". So why not? Not only does the place has limited parking slots but also limited tables. While the variety is less-aggressive, the classics are all available with a few uncommonly seen Cantonese Dim Sum dishes. But budget-watchers should take note on the price points, a Dim Sum meal at Chong Qing Lao Huo Guo does not come cheap. Just to give you a glimpse of the price points- a serving portion of Siew Mai is priced at Rm 6.50 while Har Kaw is priced at Rm 8... not inclusive of service charge and government tax. However, Dim Sum dishes are all made-to-order and they will be piping hot when served to the table, so do not expect a cheap and express meal here.
发现这里的老顾客通常都会在早上9点钟来到这里用餐。 时间一到就会爆满。所以你要避开这些人潮就要早点来噢。
Overall, a good eat and relaxation for the tired and those in need of a quick and fulfilling bite.
As an overview, Siew Bai, Gua Bao (Taiwanese Pork Belly Bun), Cai Tao Kuih, Tang Bao were good
We will definitely go back to Dim Sum Valet to try out more of their dishes!
But it’s not easy to find Halal dim sum in Penang, until this one – Dim Sum Valet.
Osmanthus Jelly is the bomb! This perfect cube jelly consist of dried osmanthus flowers, and wolfberries.
With the concept of freshly made and no overnight food is served, the dim sum here is selling like hot cakes. With more than 50 types of dim sum available, Zui Xiang Lou is the best choice for those looking for varieties and affordable dim sum.
Dim sum is now being served at Zui Xiang Lou while the dinner banquets are still their focus. With the concept of freshly made and no overnight food is served, the dim sum here is selling like hot cakes. With more than 50 types of dim sum available, Zui Xiang Lou is the best choice for those looking for varieties and affordable dim sum.
All dim sum looked tempting for me!
We particularly liked the Steamed Prawn Dumplings... we thought they did exceptionally well when it comes to Prawns. The Prawn filling was plump, juicy with an addictive bouncy-bite.
Overall taste wise, is just as good with others places, however you do find more exotic choices, of course with an corresponding increase in Price, the 2 of us had 10 basket with tea, which cost us just below RM50/-, for the service and ambiance provided, which is 30% higher then other places.
Also noteworthy is the BBQ Pork Bun. Not only that the bun was soft, the real draw was the juicy, sweet BBQ Pork filling. It was moist and easy on the palate... with a bold, heavy punch of flavors.
I feel that their food here is slightly pricier than other place but i still enjoy the food here as their service is good, environment is good and nice food too.
Kee Teik Jai Tim Sum is Practically the only choice for Yum Cha Style Tim Sum in Southen Nibong Tebal Area, its located practically right on the Border of Penang and Perak. While it may be the only place for Tim Sum, the food here is tasty and they are quite innovative as well. One of their specialty is what i would describe as a Oat coated Sandwich with Pandan Kaya Filling.
We did not like the Har Kaw to be served with some Shallot Oil, we thought the Shallot Oil overpowered the entire dish and all we could taste was the Shallot flavor
There are variety of well presented dim sums that available to be order. There are also rice sets series here with local style of cooking available. The price of the food here are reasonable and with the elegant lion dance decoration surrounded
Everything here felt very local, giving you that home old school kinda feeling when dining in here. This place look new, not sure if it is newly open. The food price here is reasonable.
