The noodles here were tender and flavorful crustacean sauce made the dish moist and palatable. I have forgotten how many prawns are there in my plate but the prawns are size-ably good. Give this a try if you like your Hokkien Mee moist like me.
The tongue was sadly unavailable today when I ordered so I ended up with just lamb ribs.
The noodles were springy and tasty, and each of the yong tau foo ingredients was well made, especially the meatball which was crispy outside and juicy and meaty inside.
Passable stuff.
While our local prawn noodle soup would not include hard boil egg, Penang's style did. Ingredients like lean meat and prawns with a substantial seafood soup taste were good enough. Not overpowering.
As a bonus, my order came with a bowl of tasty soup filled with cabbage leaves and a chunk of meat in it.
I paid a visit yesterday and made a beeline for the stall that has been on my mind for quite a while! The food in question? The power chendol that i labelled as epic when i first tried it 8 years ago!
Only kway teow with no noodles. Quite moist and oily, with the kway teow quite distinct although fairly soft with some bite. Not a bad char kway teow, with a slightly sweeter flavour profile, although not overly so.
No doubt that the Hokkien Mee fits the basic criteria of a plate of traditional noodle, it is of a saltier side. Nonetheless, it does has its traits like a little "Wok Hei" flavours and those "Gu Zhao" taste with noodles soaking up the goodness from the stock.
Indeed, the steamed fish was nicely done and the texture of the flesh was soft and succulent. The sauce, which was swimming with tomatoes, mushrooms, and preserved vegetables had just the right balance of sour and savoury flavours.
The porridge is adequately flavored without having to add any more seasonings.
Tasty and flavourful chicken katsu, light and crispy outside and tender and moist inside, with a nice sweet Japanese curry with chunks of potatoes and carrots. Good standard, with a constant queue at the stall.
Overall, I find that Yuguo Curry Rice is pretty decent. Though it is not the typical Hainanese Curry Rice, I will still recommend it to those who love Hainanese Curry Rice with generous portions and at an affordable price of less than $10 for two plates above.
ABC Brickworks Market & Food Centre is a hidden gem known as Zhen De Hao 蒸得好. This hawker stall is dedicated to serving up authentic steamed delicacies that will warm your soul.
The KL-style noodles were slick, lardy and tasty, from the savoury black sauce, and the cloudy pork soup was fresh tasting, and pork tender and flavourful. Quite nice.
