The latest outlet to join the Grand Imperial Group is located on the 9th Floor of Pavilion Elite. While it does serve the usual Chinese fares like dim sum, roast meats and oriental dishes, what’s very appealing to me is their Seafood Hotpot Hong Kong-style. Most of the seafood offered are live ones swimming in tanks in the restaurant.

Verdict: China Chinese style hotpot definitely a trend now in our F&B scene considering the amount of the restaurants sprouting up in various areas of Klang Valley and other states like Penang and Johor. The first to arrive was their signature snacks of Crispy Fried Pork. Good small bites to try if you like fried food with a spicy kick of the Szechuan peppercorns. Sinfully delicious and quite addictive too, if you bite into the peppercorn, be ready to experience the numbness in the mouth. Eat it while still hot from the kitchen as once it cools down, the crispiness is no longer there.

Apart from serving the clear soup, our steamboat also has the Tom Yam, or the ginger wine, or the pumpkin porridge soup alternatives. Our seafood is freshly shipped daily from Pulau Ketam with more than 70 kinds of steamboat ingredients, including fish balls, fish noodles, handmade dumplings, as well as QQ tofu. Our crab, white pomfret, squid, sliced pork, giant grouper fish head and siakap fish head are not to be missed. Served with a slightly spicy and sour chili sauce it will make you ask for more.

Likes: Fresh broth, lots of great varieties for steam boat (sliced pork, beef, meat balls of all kinds, plenty of vegetable selections). The most important that they aced is the freshness of the food - I believe it's due to the high turnover rate so food is actually very fresh here. Dislikes: The slack side is they have great sauces but not available every time. When they are busy they won't prepare fried garlic for customers (what kind of logic is that...). And the be honest their service is not the best despite charging high prices for their food. They tend to hurry you to finish up your food because there are customers waiting. I couldn't be bothered because they should plan their reservations well and not shoo-ing your customers off... Your customers are entitled to enjoy their food, as this is not a mamak stall... It's a love hate thing for this place - I love it but their service makes me think twice.

Even for steamboat, they use the traditional steamboat pot that uses charcoal as the burning medium. Since charcoal is used, there is no way to control the fire. So, you got to be extra careful. Yep you read that right, soups are not provided FOC here. With that said, we didn’t mind paying for it because the soup was appetizing and tangy with no hint of MSG. It also comes with plenty of vegetables and pork slices so the price is pretty justified.
