3 tiny hoppers, 2 cocktails came up to RM126. Not even kidding you, these aren't fancy food that's worth RM126. Without the cocktail it would be fairly more reasonable. Will I return again? Perhaps yes - but I'll be more careful with the choices, no more peppered goat and cocktails. Honestly, it is very difficult to for us to have the urge to return if us consumers don't feel the value we are paying for. Nevertheless, something that's worth the credits - this idea is very interesting and very Instagram-friendly.

Reasons to visit: Chic and comfortable setting; great cocktails, with special mentions for Mr Ahmad and Mrs Lim; amazing hoppers to go with very reasonably priced cocktails, what with their weekend bottomless brunch menu; wine, champagne, whiskey and other drinking options are available upstairs as well, including local artisan wine.

At first we thought that the appams will not be able to fill our stomach and had even planned to go somewhere else for lunch. But after having our meal here, we decided to go straight home. Don’t underestimate these appams. They can fill you up to last the whole day.

Junior Chellapa (or JC as he likes to call it) is a contemporary take on classic Indian dishes. From Murgh Tikka Masala to Mutton Varuval, Sultani Grilled Prawns to Chellapa’s Pomfret, even his lassi is given an orange twist compared to the usual mango flavour and everything in between. Welcome to Junior Chellapa, where Indian Spices are Redefined.

Chicken Thali Set, 20 ringgit I must say, for 20 ringgit, this Thali set was a good value for money. You’d literally get to taste 9 different items + vadai + “Puli”/yellow rice + papadum. It certainly did come with a variety, more selections from the usual Thali sets served at many restaurants here.

We started our meal with the highly recommended house special Lamb Ribs (RM39), which comes with 3 pieces of New Zealand ribs cooked in tomato masala gravy. The lamb ribs itself was flavourful and fall-off-bone tender, while the gravy was unbelievably thick

Chicken Masala, 7.50 ringgit. I like the chicken masala – it had a good amount of spice and gravy to it.

A banana leaf rice meal is not complete without some side dishes. Mutton and chicken, will be prepared in different styles daily (either masala, peratal or varuval) to offer choices to diners. During our visit, it was mutton masala (RM9.90); the portion was generous with tender, chunks of meat in a delicious gravy. Highly recommended!

Goa, a name that speaks of a kaleidoscopic blend of Indian and Portuguese cultures, sweetened with sun, sea, sand, seafood and spirituality. In the local context, Goa the restobar is housed in the prestigious Ascott Kuala Lumpur at the heart of the Golden Triangle. It is touted as an oasis of Sins & Spices and begs you to experience exotic New Indian Cuisine and Indian Inspired Cocktails. A clean rustic atmosphere greets you as you step up the ocean inspired staircase to a view of a brass gong and are ushered to your table resplendent with copper crockery and bright floral centerpieces. Bamboo blinds run from the ceiling over the balcony to lend an aura of intimacy. Here you will dine on Celebrity Chef Sapna Anand’s carefully curated menu, featuring dishes like the mesmerising Cochin Seafood Stew, the seductive Grilled Cauliflower in Smoked Sauce, the delightful Butter Prawns, the tantalising Kashmiri Lamb Chops and of course the mouth-watering Chowpatty Fire Roasted Grilled Corn. Rest assured that your dining experience is a veritable feast for the senses! It is a simple tribute to simple yet delicious food from all over India. Local Goan fare like the rasam, raita, lassi have been baptised with exotic names such as Spiked Mango Lassi, Kinky Kokum and Rasam Shooter. Familiar yet different, it’s a taste that’s hard to forget. The usual suspects are also available from the bar with the likes of beers, spirits and a fine selection of wines and champagnes.

The new dessert created by Sapna was a nice surprise to end the meal. Using a freshly-made sweet appam as a beautiful lacy “plate”, Goa’s house-made Peanut Ice Cream, served with dashes of caramel and crunchy almond flakes was the perfect dessert to round up our lovely Goan dinner.

Pepper Beef Fry This Pepper Beef Fry might not be picture-worthy but it tastes so good! It is actually a popular Kerala-style beef fry, having bite-sized beef chunks cooked till moist and tender, packed with a great depth of spices and freshly ground pepper flavours. High recommended.

There's also the melt-in-your-mouth, Malabar Style Mutton Curry. It's rich, spicy and mellow, an additive dish some will die for, drawing the most 'ooooohs and aaaaaaahs' from the table. Mutton is never an easy meat to cook, and most are not able to make it tender but Chef Sapna's Malabar Style Mutton Curry was absolutely tender and soft.

As for their Roti Special, it is also known as Roti Banjir Special by some. Two soft boiled eggs are added on top of roti banjir which had been drenched in curry, dhal and sambal. Ask for a warm and crispy roti canai if you like it that way.

Their Mutton Vindaloo was another good dish. Mutton chunks were cooked with potatoes and comes in a mildly spicy thick gravy and is priced at RM 30.00 . Portions wise, it's definitely pricey but looking at the location, I would say that it's acceptable. Taste wise, my rating for this shall be 8/10.
