J-Garden is frequented by Japanese expatriates, a feat which speaks volumes about the authenticity of the yōshoku cuisine here!
Starting with some of J Garden's best sellers- the Tender Chicken Nanban is a dish not to be missed. It is definitely a dish that cannot be found else where... juicy, tender Chicken meat coated with airy batter being fried till perfection and topped with sweet-savory-sour, addictive caramelized Onion sauce. Good on its own or even better to enjoy with their creamy home-made Tartar sauce. While it is contenting to enjoy the dish alone, it is more tummy filling and palate-pleasing to make it a set (additional Rm 6)... with Japanese Rice, Miso Soup and various condiments.
J Garden serve some Japanese-fusion-Italian-Western kind of food, which i would say, J Garden mix things up themselves.
The Aka Special is a spicy choice to have. This spicy specialty comes presented in Shiro soup infused with special spicy chili paste.
风暴兵太太则点了白豚骨拉面(SHIRO Special),同样是招牌拉面。其实,卖相和黑豚骨拉面差不多,唯一不一样是,这个是“白”的,风暴兵先生是“黑”的。
For those who does not enjoy soup, probably due to hot weather and sweat a lot, go for their dry ramen. The ramen noodles are tossed in their signature mix of sweet & sour soy sauce, creating a balanced taste that soothing to the taste buds. It is served with chicken meatballs, black fungus, spring onions, seaweed, flavoured beansprouts and eggs.
We were never a fan of Soba but the Green Tea Noodles with Tempura (RM 36) here totally changed our perception. Served cold, the green tea noodles are to be dunked into the soba tsuyu that gives it a light sweet taste. The tempura served was delicious and coated with a very thin layer of dough, rendering us can taste the filling directly.
Apart from the Omakase, we also tried the 7-course Sushi Gozen Set, in which most of the dishes were similar to the Omakase's in one way or another. The key difference was the 7-piece Nigiri set, every piece was a masterpiece of its own- beautifully hand pressed and topped with slices of generously cut Sashimi. The Rice was firm on the outside and airy inside, leaving the Nigiri a pleasant texture on the palate.
Here's the location.
We were dismayed by the presentation, not only they looked completely different from the menu (well we do understand that pictures are for illustration only), the taste was not up to par. The Tuna Sashimi on the Chirashi Don was appalling, as though it was leftover from somewhere else
