I have fond memories of Thomson Plaza ; from the Old Yaohan department store, the KFC outlet that served fried chicken on porcelain plates w...
The uni and prawn were creamy and rich, although the uni was just slightly fishy and metallic. The various fish tasted strangely uniform though, and didn’t have much of their own flavour. The toro was even a bit mushy. Odd that this was so popular.
Valuable & Affordable Japanese Food Dining. If you love value for money bowls of Chirashi, you can head to Omote at level 3 of Thomson Plaza. Reservation in advance will be advisable if you want to skip the long snaky queue of being "Walk-in" customers. I tried calling in a few times to reserve but there was not much luck several times but luckily after a few tries in weeks, I manage to get myself and my friends a table.
Ambience at Takagi Ramen is functional casual.
If you haven’t tried Takagi Ramen, make sure you come visit when you’re in Ang Mo Kio next time and those who live in the AMK neighbourhood, you can order the ramen via honestbee food delivery service if you’re too lazy to get out of the house.
Takagi Ramen is quite good, given that they’re a hawker stall and their dishes are priced so affordably. Taste is very personal and subjective so you’ll have to try it and pass your own verdict.
If you love grilled meat skewers and good vibes then ToriYard is a joint that you should seriously hit up.
This yakitori joint is perfect for after-work dinners with a drinks and good food, or a casual family lunch set amidst the lush greenery of Bishan Park.
No matter which part of the island you stay, making a trip to ToriYard for the authentic Yakitori is definitely worthwhile.
Ichiban Sushi is a welcoming space perfect for families to spend some quality time together over the holidays.
It was quite sad, actually, with tiny lifeless cuts of meat sitting in there, and slightly sweet at that. I left most of this uneaten, unfortunately.
The Iberico Pork bowl is a huge bang for the buck. If I were a student at Nanyang Polytechnic, I would buy it every day.
The ambience is pretty much what you’d expect: crowded with students during lunch time and relatively clean.
While not quite “restaurant quality” as the stall’s signboard proclaims, the value of the food is undeniable. If you’re in the neighbourhood and have a craving for Japanese food, Konomi Zen is worth a visit.
Look no further than Kazutake Ramen, a hidden gem nestled in Ang Mo Kio. With its cozy ambiance, ample indoor, and al fresco seating options, this ramen haven is a must-visit.
All in all, the portions of the ramen were generous for their prices — there was a rather large portion of noodles, and quite a substantial amount of liao. My only gripe would be that the black fungus served with my ramen wasn’t crunchy.
Hot Jap is a good place for friends and family to enjoy a good meal together.
Delicious and unpretentious, this dish totally surpassed my expectations of a $10.80 tendon. My only gripe is that the rice used was not Japanese rice, but long grain rice. Nevertheless, it was a great meal at Haru Haru!
