Rakuya Katong has a trendy fusion omakase concept but the restaurant bar also has bar bites and affordably priced set lunch.
I wouldn't mind going to Rakuya occasionally for a slightly different Japanese meal but i guess the search continues for our staple Japanese meal spot in East Coast.
The team of chefs really do a good job in blending flavours together, and I will definitely make a return to Rakuya on my own budget.

The Tomi Sushi Takeaway Menu offers good value Japanese meals. For above average quality Japanese food, the takeaway items are very reasonably priced.
It is surprising how the cheaper items are more outstanding at Tomi Sushi - maybe it could have been our choices but I would return for the oysters and udon.
Dai-ichi fishmart review
All you can eat Japanese a la carte buffet. With 1-for-1 deals it is even better! The food here is in small portions but there are 180+ items to choose from. Too many items to describe, but all items are great and you can even order Salmon Head Steamboat!
Best known for its a la carte buffet offering, the restaurant caters to all sorts of cravings for Japanese food—offering anything from sushi to sashimi, tempura and even heavier alternatives such as soba and udon.
If you want high quality Japanese food look elsewhere; but if buffet is your thing or you just want a decent Japanese meal at affordable prices than Shin Minori will fit the bill.
They do not use MSG and lard in their cooking and the sheer deliciousness of their food is solely dependant on the technique and freshness of each individual ingredient.
There are hits and misses in terms of food, but on the whole, IZA is a nifty casual gathering place with its cosy ambiance and neighbourhood shophouse appeal.
Umami Ramen, a recently established ramen eatery, made its debut in June at Katong Square.
There are many other dishes in Kotobuki’s menu and we would like to return to try some of their other dishes.
