No Japanese meal is complete without a dose of mentaiko, so an order of Mentaiko-Seared Tamadon @ RM14.90 is a must. The 2nd thing to grace their presence to our table is the beautiful Pacific oysters (RM7.90 per piece) and they not only limited to the pacific oysters; they have an array of different nationality of oysters which they will feature in their menu! Seafood Fried Udon, 18 ringgit. The Udon was again, something different.If you want a dish that has a mix of everything – give this a go. Yummy thick noodles cooked with teriyaki sauce, with eggs, squids, clams, bonito flakes and green pepper. I cant really pin it down to one of two specific flavors because it was a mix of many thing. Verdict: As I’ve mentioned in the beginning, the Shabu Shabu Set with top notch quality ingredient felt value for money, hence decent for its price. If Shabu Shabu not your thing, try out their Kushiyaki and pair with their selection of sakes or beers. I was told that special Binchō-tan (備長炭) or white charcoal is used for the grilling. The charcoal is completely odourless which enabling you to enjoy the natural flavours of the food.

Verdict: The server there is really accommodating to our request and speedy service .. It's better to make a reservation if you want to be in a big group as the space of this eatery is not that large and it fills up rather quickly .. They have recently updated their menu with the inclusion of the dessert menu!

Likes: Pretty plating - each set comes with appetisers and soup. Prettier presentation will always increase one's appetite. Prices are pretty reasonable too... Generally a great place to hang out for lunch and to those who loves to take photos, the lighting for this place is fantastic. Dislikes: Staffs needs to be more attentive - not only they do mistakes, they are very slow too. Not sure if they don't understand customers or something just wasn't quite right that day. Also, their private room requires a minimum spend which I thought was ridiculous. That was the only place which could fit a party of 10. Also, the amount told on the phone was different from the amount that they mentioned on the day where we went. It's a nice place to dine, just that they need to be a bit more consistent and improve on their service. Train your staffs, do what it takes to make it a better experience for customers.

For the past couple of days, I have been having cravings for Don (short for donburi - a Japanese rice bowl dish). Hence I decided to drop by Five-HT, a Japanese Fusion restaurant, for dinner. One of the reasons why I enjoy fusion food so much is because the amalgamation of flavors and textures, never ceased to surprise me. Marrying conventional ingredients the unconventional way - sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't, and at most instances, I'd never know what to expect. Five-HT however, was a little bit of a hit and miss for me. Tip: Stick to the Dons and the Coffees.

As usual, no visit to Eatomo is complete without ordering one of our must-haves, the Wok-Fired Spicy Gyutandon @ RM21.90. This time we even went overboard and doubled the beef tongue for an additional RM15 until we can't even see the rice underneath...hehehe! ;) You can also add on an extra rice for a more substantial meal (or share the dish between two).

I went for the Kuro Ajitama Chasu Ramen (RM20) - ie the black garlic pork soup ramen, which comes with spring onion, black fungus, egg, 1 piece of pork shoulder, and special sauce. The pork soup, which has been slow boiled for 40 hours was rich and creamy - absolutely delicious! I managed to convince Baby C to share mine with me (she didn't want black soup at the start) and once she tasted the soup, she proclaimed it to be really good. The noodles had an excellent texture too, and the egg was perfectly runny. The chashu was the only thing in the bowl which I felt was ordinary and a bit tough, otherwise a lovely bowl of ramen!

We tried all four flavours and the Unicorn Fruit is definitely the most Insta-worthy with its rainbow-coloured cheese. The cheese gets its colour from natural ingredients such as green apple, strawberry, banana, mix berry and blueberry. And yup, this smells and tastes very fruity. However, in terms of taste, my vote goes to the Original Cheese, with its slightly sweet-savoury flavour.

Overall, it was an average dinner for us. Thank god!! I never order anything more than that. So after our pathetic dinner, me and my sister decided to go for supper on our way back home. In terms of Portion & price, I still prefer Sushi Tei and Sushi Zanmai. So much better!!

Overall, we enjoyed our experience here at Nikai - service was polite and efficient, and the meal itself was unique. The portions are quite small, however that is the intended serving portions for koryori. You can always head downstairs for udon, if you're still hungry - a good back-up plan don't you agree?;)

We had the Chicken Teriyaki Pasta @ RM24.80. It is an umani combination of pasta, chicken, turkey ham, shimeiji mushroom, leeks and a special teriyaki sauce, topped with nori (seaweed).
