Australian Wagyu – the marbling is not as intense but still highly enjoyable. If you are the kind of person who likes to have a little chew in your meat, I think you would prefer this to the Japanese version.
Sukiya turns out to be quite good as with the soy sauce base that they are using and also the soup being boiled quite a while.
If you're looking for an indulgent all-you-can-eat meal, then Kuro Japanese Steamboat should be on your list.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner at Ishin Japanese Dining at Jalan Kelang Lama and not forgetting their friendly service. We enjoyed the sashimi and the teppanyaki and for the pricing, it is typical KL pricing. Our review is based on the food we ordered during our dinner.

Taste Minu Chawan Mushi (RM 22) Served in the egg shells, the chawanmushi comes beautiful and insta-friendly too. Enjoy the 3 types of chawanmushi here where we have the uni, tobiko and caviar chawanmushi. Velvety soft egg with the aromatic egg fragrance. Delicious!
Providing excellent quality of set meals at an affordable price. Their specialty is in incorporating umami, the fifth taste in their culinary dishes.
Reasons to visit: Zen atmosphere, Japanese food, chicken hot pot, free flow of vegetables, no additives, in-house ponzu and Yuzu Kosyo, best Warabi-Mochi in town.
Asari Hoiru Butter Yaki This mediocre looking dish was a gem! Immerse in an uplifting olfactory experience upon unveiling what's hidden underneath the aluminium foil. The soup was so fragrant we could almost felt it on our tongue. Taking a sip brought us to paradise. The clear soup was sweet, but not in an artificial manner, attributed by the freshness of the seafood, and ended with an interesting buttery taste, which was quite unexpected of any Japanese cuisine. One sip would definitely have you longing for more.
Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant has been around for almost 3 years. Serving delicious and authentic Japanese cuisine at an affordable price using the top ingredients whilst some are even flown in directly from Japan. Spacious restaurant which is perfect for a get together, or family gatherings in the private room.
The KIMI-YA Special Roll is also one of my favorite dish on that day. The rolls are made of avocado, omelette and cucumber roll with garlic mayonnaise sauce on seared tuna and black caviar topping. The avocado and cucumber roll brought out the flavor of the seared tuna and caviar very well and the savory taste from the garlic mayonnaise sauce pairs nicely with the sweetness of the avocado. I would definitely order this again next time.
As the guest chef responsible for the Japanese-Australian Epicurean Affair menu for the hotel’s #DinewithChef series (24 August to 3 September), Fong then proceeded to guide Harris on the sushi-making masterclass.
Thirty8 is famous for its incredible view, overseeing the city skyline of Kuala Lumpur and The twin towers, while sipping on your tea, hanging out with your friends or family, and have some dessert.
Overall, THIRTY8 offers one of the best views of the KL cityscape. However, we found the food to be hit-or-miss. In summary – come for the view, but temper your expectations for the food.
Conceived as an experiential haven for both connoisseurs and newbies, the 12-seater Sake Room will set the stage for immersive food and sake matching experiences; counting among its drawcard a sake from Hokusetsu, Japan that's brewed exclusively for the Nobu Group.
We truly enjoyed our afternoon at the new location of Nobu Kuala Lumpur. The food was superb, the location is a stunner, and the service was fabulous. One could easily slip into this accessible location for a bite to eat at the sushi bar, a drink at the inviting cocktail bar, a meal with family and friends, or a private meal in the 12-person private room overlooking the park. This new location has everything you would expect from the high standards of Nobu, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
The ‘Ode to Nobu’ Omakase menu is priced at RM595++ per person. The elegant 7-course menu, available until 31 October 2019
Food was good and acceptable. While I would definitely return, there were hits and misses as well.
Service is slow, food is nice, price is above average. Value for money item would be Fried Chicken and Curry Rice. Cheese cake with cream is pretty good.
Overall, the high cost of the meal (RM268 for 2.5 diners) wasn’t matched by the quality of food, so I don’t think I am likely to return in the near future. On the other hand, if I could get away with just having three courses of dessert, I might change my mind.
YURI / Matcha 6th Avenue Cheesecake! Priced at RM21, this is exclusively made available at The Tokyo Restaurant, Isetan The Japan Store, Lot 10. We personally prefer this to the original now as it has the right balance of sweetness together with the matcha. So velvety smooth and tasty!
Verdict: All thing considered, we enjoyed our lunch at Papasan Canteen. Affordable price range, delicious food with good portion, definitely something I look forward to have it again if I’m in the territory.
Here's the location.
My friend chose US Pork Loin and I chose Australian Beef Chuck Roll because it is less fatty than Australian Beef Brisket.
Wagyu More Japanese Shabu Shabu @ The Gardens Mall
Verdict: It was indeed a satiated meatilicious hotpot experience, burpsss 。^‿^。

Jeff Ramsey’s new modern izakaya gratifies the senses with Japanese-Spanish flair, liberally spinning classics from both cuisines to delicious results.
Reasons to visit Japas by Jeff Ramsey: That steak!! Spectacular views across the city; eclectic fusion dishes; reasonable and varied wine and sake offerings.
Reasons to visit Babe Restaurant’s Bubbly Brunch: fun, friendly dining; creative cooking; gorgeous presentation; a chance to try many dishes from their menu for a single price.
Kicking things off with a generous portion of Butter Poached Brittany Blue Lobster. The presentation may look a little bland and ordinary, but trust me, it all lies within the freshness and method of execution of the lobster. Beautifully coloured and packed full of natural sweetness, this piece of lobster tail is definitely something to die for.
Next to arrive is the Wagyu with asparagus. The beef was so tender, melt-in-the-mouth and juicy..... oh so good! Can I please have more? ;)
Next is the course I'm most excited for - the sashimi moriawase - and boy, what an impressive, beautifully assembled platter it was! Featuring 10 different types of seafood, we thoroughly enjoyed the amazingly fresh, thick slices of salmon, salmon belly, kodai, hirame, hotate, akagai, amaebi, kanpachi, shima aji and tai.
What do we like about Tatsu InterContinental? -The freshi sashimi sushi -The juicy grilled salmon -The quiet environment on a Saturday afternoon. The staff brought us to the side with lower table and it was just us throughout the lunch. The view from window was great! -The comfortable sofa seats
Overall, the sashimi, without a doubt was great and fresh. Tempura was also done well. Crunchy skin dipped into tempura sauce elevated the taste and texture.

Overall, lunch at Ginza Anzu Great World was a pleasant experience. The ground floor restaurants were not very crowded at lunchtime on a weekday. But the car park was quite full, possibly because there are two major supermarkets in this shopping mall – Cold Storage and Meidiya.
I haven't been to Anzu since they left their old location. But we were at their Great World spot tonight (1 Kim Seng Promenade #01-113), and this was not only one of the cheapest items on the menu, but also one of the only non-breaded items.
The scallop katsu was bouncy and sweet, and was really sashimi grade, fried to a nice crunch and fragrance with the panko crust outside but still rare inside. Ditto the prawn katsu, which was full of qq prawns that was cooked just nice, again retaining their bounciness and sweetness. Very nice.
Another must try is their Wagyu Beef Bun. You can now enjoy the juicy wagyu beef patty which is perfectly marinated in the special sauce and they served with lettuce and cheese in a steamed bun. They are just so good and the meat is so juicy!
When BabySumoKids crave for ramen, Ippudo in The Gardens Mall is the place we would choose to go to. This visit, we ordered two full bowl sets, whereby you can choose from five types of ramen, and also from two appetizer sets
Having been around here for some time now, recently another new menu has been introduced to titillate Japanese ramen fans on top of its existing menu. Let’s have a quick rundown of what could be expected from the latest addition.
A minimalist vibe, comfortable enough for matcha and dessert. This is like a premium matcha shop, with plenty of variety of matcha with different origin. I just randomly selected Saemidori K1 (RM..
What we liked about Niko Neko -The matcha bun -The aesthetically white interior setting
This delicate Matcha roulade combines several textures in one with a soft, thin layer of crunchy Yuri Matcha meringue on the outside, that perfectly contrasts the light and airy half-matcha, half-whipped cream filling. It would be my perfect Zenful matcha moment had the dessert is less sweet.
For sashimi lover, you won’t be complaining the freshness of the seafood here and we hope they still offer this. Love every piece of seafood sashimi on this platter. It is served cold, the texture is good, the taste is still fresh and it is awesome when you dipped on to light soy sauce and real wasabi.
No Japanese meal is complete without a dose of mentaiko, so an order of Mentaiko-Seared Tamadon @ RM14.90 is a must. Four thick slices of fluffy-sweet tamago, blanketed by savoury-creamy mentaiko that's blowtorched to smoky perfection and (this time) even finished with a sprinkling of salty furikake for an absolutely yummy combination of savoury-creamy-sweet flavours. Kids would adore this...as would (some) adults! ^.^
Most of what we had here were thoroughly enjoyable (some outstanding, very few misses)....plus the hits far outweigh the misses, so this place continues to please us with their fresh, decent tasting and affordably-priced Japanese food. More visits to come, for sure! ^_*
Maybe buffets aren’t that bad after all. Post-COVID-19 SOPs certainly make them much for pleasurable for introverted hygiene freaks such as myself. No one should complain about the quality and variety of food at Latest Recipe Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. And, while hubby holds none of my qualms, the half-price promo is undoubtedly a win.
Christmas Eve Dinner RM168 nett per adult | RM84 nett per child Christmas Day Brunch RM148 nett per adult | RM74 nett per child Christmas Day Dinner RM138 nett per adult | RM69 nett per child
