But I think it does deserve a visit if you are a fan of ramen.
Verdict: I’m glad that we’ve finally tried this Tokyo style ramen and definitely a contented ramen experience. We will be back!
Kuro Musashi Ramen - MYR 27+ (6% GST = MYR 28.60 nett).
Verdict: Surprisingly for a Japanese restaurant in hotel, the food isn’t charged with “premium price” that I would have expected. Food wise, we had no complaint on the food that we tried that evening
Dragon roll at MYR 40.28 nett with a deep fried prawn in the middle. One piece each and my friend prefers a similar roll at Yuzu - the .Ebi Avocado maki.
50g of grilled sirloin beef with tomato in rich miso at MYR 88 nett. The beef is served rare so I decided to cook it more. I was quite wary of the gas cylinder. I removed all the slices of tomato and put them on a plate. Then I cooked the slices of beef on both sides slightly and switched off the fire when they are just done. The beef is very tender and delicious!
What do We Like about Sushiya, One Utama? -Fresh and delicious sashimi -Omakase bar for the unique’s view of the chef’s work
Unagi and Grilled Salmon Don with Chawanmushi and Miso RM 48 This is another don we ordered and it is Unagi and Grilled Salmon Don. We know there are many people who are not a fan of sashimi or fresh seafood so this is a good option. Sweet and tasty unagi (eel) with lightly grilled salmon with rice. This also comes with also comes with chawanmushi and miso soup. Overall, we love the food at Ichiro Sushi Bar at Eat Paradise Isetan One Utama. The sashimi here is very fresh and what you pay is what you get in terms of quality of the food.
Ichiro Sushi Bar at Eat Paradise One Utama Shopping CentreIchiro Sushi Bar at Eat Paradise One Utama Shopping Centre offers one of the best sushi and sashimi...
The set meal was very filling and satisfying, the jumbo tonkatsu was just right for someone who loves deep fried pork chop.
11am. First customer of the day! The restaurant boasts a classy interior with cool grey walls, sleek wooden furniture and black and white photos/calligraphy. The aesthetics are standard across all of their branches.
The meat isn't dry though the sauce certainly brings the flavor out even more. Definitely well worth it as you can refill the rice, soup and cabbage. Oh you can opt for either normal or multi grain rice too at no extra charge. While I wouldn't recommend bringing your date here since you'll want to stuff yourself silly with the free refills, it's got a nice ambience for a nice date.
Garlic Fried Rice was superb. Delicious combination of Garlic Fried Rice and Fried Chicken. The portion is more than enough for 2 people. Kimuchi G.RC @ RM 33
Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. I swear that the portion has gotten smaller. Not just the plate.
Next to come is the Sirloin Steak Set priced at RM30.00. The set is served with rice, miso soup and mashed potato & salad. The steak is cooked medium well and served with teriyaki sauce but to my disappointment, the steak is lack of taste. This is the common problem with most restaurant, but probably it's only me that expecting wagyu beef quality everywhere. It's overall good and I think it's a good bargain for this price range in this environment. No complain and I visited this place that many times means that it must be quite good to keep me going back.
While the meat is good and all, my favourite is actually the scallops, which are served in small tin foil bowls swimming in a flavourful broth. The scallops are sweet and juicy with a buttery taste – extremely addictive – and the broth is delicious too
Our lunch for two came up to RM120, which was pretty reasonable for a barbecue buffet. If you come on weekday afternoons, it’s RM39.90++ per pax.
Craving Japanese bbq ? At Rocku Yakiniku @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre, take your pick from premium cuts of meat and seafood, from tempting slices of pork belly ...
What do We Like about Robataya Izakaya One Utama? -Fulfilling and satisfying set meals with many side dishes served with the meal -Reasonably priced and comfortable dining environment
I requested for no teriyaki sauce for the salmon teriyaki set at MYR 28++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 32.48 nett). Kept half for dinner.
Soft Shell Crab Rice Bowl at MYR 29++ (MYR 33.64 nett after 10% service charge and 6% SST). My friend says that the deep fried soft shell crab is tasty.
First must order: Chuka iidako (baby octopus). I love chewy things (like squid and mochi), so chuka iidako is a must have whenever I go to any Japanese restaurant. The one at Sushi Zanmai, however, has perfected the marinade, so much so that it doesn’t feel right eating it anywhere else. It has a nice balance between sweet and savoury, peppered with fragrant sesame seeds on a bed of fresh lettuce and shredded radish. Portions are of a reasonable size as well.
It was a good lunch for us. The food was good but the service was a bit slow maybe because it was too busy. It is one of the reasonably priced Japanese Restaurant for me.
Unatama Don (RM 15.80 ++) Love the slightly chewy texture of the Japanese rice, paired with Unagi Kabayaki & boiled egg with runny eye yolk, AWESOME!
This Japanese restaurant has the perfect environment for business lunch, date night, outing with friends, birthday gathering or family dinner.
Instead of a massive queue at Sushi Zanmai, you may opt for Hokkaido Sushi instead. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm puh-retty sure that Hokkaido Sushi & Sushi Zanmai's menu offer similar items. Different names, same menu. But of course, each foodie item listed on Hokkaido Sushi's menu is charged a ringgit extra compared to Sushi Zanmai's menu. *All these statements are based on my observations* I hope Sushi Zanmai hasn't hiked up their prices :p
Lastly, among the side dishes I have tried, I personally like Mentaiko Spider Roll a lot. Different from other dishes with soft shell crab, this dish comes with avocado, which enhances the special taste of the sushi. Rating: 9/10
Tokyo Secret Cheese Baked Tart @ RM 7.90 The crust filled with a delicious cheese filling that melts in the mouth. If you like Cheese, you should try Tokyo Secret but if you like a combination of milk and cheese then you should try Hokkaido Cheese Baked Tart. For me, both are equally delicious.
That aside, I simply love the creamy, cheesy filling and its buttery, flakey crust. It was worth every expensive cents. Hehe.
But make sure you get the tarts warm and eat it on the spot! Don’t bother bringing it home or beyond 100m from the stall because it’s just so good when eaten warm. The tart crust is crumbly and slightly sweet and complements the soft, gooey and rich cheese filling. I believe I was speechless for a good 10 minutes while eating the tart. And then for a long time after that, I was just in complete awe of how good it tastes.
We ordered a Hokkaido King Tonkotsu ramen set at MYR32.90++ which is MYR38.36 nett after adding in 10% service charge and 6% GST. This set consists of a bowl of King Tonkotsu Ramen, a cup of green tea and a plate of 3 gyoza. There are only 3 slices of pork with a wide rim of fat and skin which we did not eat. We prefer the Ramen from Ramen Bankara to this ramen.
I ordered the Hokkaido King Charshu Tonkotsu (RM27.90) which came with thick noodles, wood ear fungus, spring onions, 4 thick slices of charshu and egg, in a tonkotsu broth. The tonkotsu broth here is not as thick and rich as Menya next door, however it is still flavorful. However, I thought the pork charshu tasted pretty bland and the egg was not a flavoured egg as advertised (just an ordinary boiled egg) - fortunately it was nice and runny. Nevertheless, still a good bowl of ramen which we enjoyed.
That being said, personally I find Gantetsu‘s Ramen to be very good and based on the satisfying meal we had, there was nothing for us to complain about. Compared to its noisy competitor next door where customers could be seen making a beeline for a seat, Gantetsu had to actively promote themselves to any passersby. In other words, there’s no queue here! The King Charshu Tonkutsu @ RM27.90 that comes with delicious cuts of pork charshu and marinated egg, has a well balanced and creamy soup that is pleasantly sweet and not too salty. The noodles might not be as thin and springy as Marutama‘s but it is still tasty by any standards.

The speciality of the seaweed salad popiah is using fresh ingredients such as juicy yam bean, spring roll, fresh cucumber, crunchy carrot and roasted seaweed. Roll up with their special sauce and crispy to add some flavour to their roll. Is a healthy eating style whereby no extra oil or fat been used.
Seaweed Club serves a variety of Japanese cuisine . They offer delicious Seaweed Rolls and set menus which you will surely love. They now have nine outlet around Malaysia and I visited the one that located at One Utama Shopping Center . The Shop exactly stand still on Old wing Lower ground floor opposite of SenQ (LGK110) , Absolutely Pork free and thanks to Kiple Bringing us Here .
What do We Like about Yakiniku Kuro, 1 Utama? -The beef was rich in flavour, just some pepper and salt were good to taste. -The self grilling was easy and simple. Moreover the air suction was good as we did not leave with strong smell on our clothes. -We do not feel too warm sitting in front of the grilling net, the dining experience was comfortable.
What do We Like about Ken-chan Curry, One Utama? -Wide range of selections at affordable price
From the comments asking me to try their top 3 best sellers, I would like to note here that the top 3 best sellers according to what I have read online are: 1. Legendary Fresh Cream Cake (MYR14.80 nett) 2. White Zebra Mille Crepe (MYR14.80 nett) which is a slice of vanilla mille crepe 3. Baked Cheese Cake (MYR9.80 nett)
There are too many choices and we couldn't decide which to get hence we get these two flavour. I like Crispy Chocolate Cake more than the Legendary Fresh Cream Cake as the rich chocolate taste and fluffy sponge are so well blended! Can I have the whole cake by myself? lol.
*I would highly recommend their Legendary Fresh Cream Cake(RM14.90) since I saw the "NO1 BEST SELLER" label on this cake and trust me, you never get tired of this cake even though there is a lot of whipped creams! The strawberries in this cake was juicy sweet and fresh yum!
Matcha Red Bean Cheese was so good, I loved it. It's visually stunning and Cheese goes well with the Matcha Red Bean. Matcha Red Bean Cheese @ RM 12.72
Salmon Teriyaki Set at MYR 23++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 26.70 nett) at Ichiriki Japanese Restaurant (opposite Secret Recipe) at One Utama. The salmon is served on a sizzling Teppan (metal griddle).
Overall, it was an okay lunch for me. I went there with a high expectation but I was not impressed with their spiciness level. If you guys, love Japanese Curry then you guys can give it a try.
Just one cheese tart to test - MYR4.50 nett. It is a bit smaller than the Tokyo Secret cheese tart and it feels lighter too.
The cake melts in your mouth the moment you consume it. The cheesiness is also the right amount. A fragrant cake that is worth eating, provided you have at least 1-2 hours to spare waiting.
Light, soft, fluffly, airy, fresh and just delicious, it literally melts in your mouth. It gives a very different experience from the rich and dense American cheesecakes which we are accustomed to. I could easily pop a few of slices of these without feeling ‘jelak’ at all. In the end, the wait was more than worth it.
A fabulous lunch although the prices might be on higher side. Not really a place we go to often but definitely don’t mind to visit again in the future.
The Senya at Isetan 1 Utama is a major failure. It is nothing like Senya Publika and has hygiene issues. Check your food properly! This is a one time off thing, will never go back again thanks to the strand of hair....
