As for us – we’ll definitely recommend all three stalls mentioned above!
♥Verdict: Definitely a place that you should put into your Penang food hunting list!
Located at Lebuh Cecil these Penang Street Food are few of the best that highly recommended, with the champion won for the Jawa Mee competition, this stall is one of the shinning stars that shouldn't be missed. As for the Laksa, the taste and the flavor is very appetizing and packed with ingredients, these are the great Street Food of Penang.
Almost every weekend here in Penang, I usually go to pasar (Bahasa Melayu for market, marché, mercado, palengke) in Bagan Ajam; that's only a 5-minute-1-bus-ride away from where we live in Butterworth. My usual Saturday or Sunday starts when I hop on the Rapid Penang bus at around 6:30AM and finish buying everything that our…

Perak Road Morning Market or also known as Perak Road Pasar is a place packed with good food. This is consist of harmonious delicacies. You have breakfast for all walks of life. The Roti Canai here is one of the most famous in town where most of the Penangites will recommend you this place for the Roti and also the Char Hor Fun here well acclaimed to be one of the best in town.
The stall just next to Jelutong Wet Market is selling delicious wantan mee and special lam mee, this stall has been operating for more than 50 years. The texture of the wantan mee is so bouncy and the mixture of the sauce is so flavourful. Besides the wantan new, the lam new that selling at this stall is very special too. Rather than call it lam mee, I reckon it looks more to lor mee. The coffee that is sold at the stall beside here is also very thick and flavourful.
Pricing at 50 cents per piece, the taukua is highly sought by locals due to its quality. As such, customers come and buy in large quantity and the taukua might finished in a moment
Many tasty food can be found here, some hawkers so busy that one have to line up for some time like this we kok seller (link here) (freshly made and deep fried right infront of you). some you can enjoy it there at the prepared open air tables, kopi tiams or the central food court and some you can packed for your meals later own.
Mount Easkin Market Place is packed with nice food during dinner time. This curry mee here is flavourful, rich, and thick while the wantan mee here is very unique with deep-fried noodles and the freshly fried wantan. Both the curry mee and wantan mee here are finishing fast. Therefore, need to be early to avoid disappointment.
The tomato rice and the dishes here especially the fried chicken are delicious, but due to the location constraints their sales have dropped tremendously
Do you love Perak Road Market Jawa Mee & Koay Teow Soup?
We enjoyed the nicely kneaded dough of the flat bread, resulting a fluffy and chewy texture. If we were to nitpick, it would be their curry lacking the strong spices scent.
All in all, the Taman Free School morning market has evolved into a haven for food enthusiasts. With their culinary skills, each vendor imparts a unique taste and aroma to the delicacies that will leave you craving more. It's more than just a market, it's a testament to Penang's rich culinary heritage and a reflection of its community's vibrant spirit.
Love their Duck Intestine as it is like paper thin, silky smooth, and chewy. Drench with their special soy sauce that makes it fragrant and eat it along with pork lard and fried garlic is just good!
Verdict: Superb, One of the best I ever had, soup was delicious, and I do think they use the Ipoh Hor fun which is imported in daily. Definitely will be back for more.
My hotel is right down the street from Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, so I hopped on over to see what I could get for a quick snack. That assam laksa above was a requisite item, and was much punchier than I was expecting, with a potently sour broth, lots of dietary fiber, and an occasional bit of stank in there.
