Besides experience haggle shopping at the market, the street itself is fairly charming with many old shops. You can sample some street food, street arts, visit cafes and temples.
Some of my closest friends decided to play tourists in KL Chinatown during the recent holidays and well… as to be expected or is it a surprise, almost all of them (we are all staying in Klang Valley – KL and Selangor) confessed to not being here in ages…
Moving forward to 2023, Imbi Kuih Bakul Fried Nian Gao is the place to visit if you are craving for kuih bakul (they called it golden cake) or also known as nian gao in Chinese, simply means new year cake.
There is so much to eat at ICC Pudu that it would take multiple trips to try everything – but that’s also one of its draws, as no two trips will be the same. Food is affordably priced for the area.
♥Verdict: Like what I said on the beginning of the post, my dining experience at ICC Pudu was torturing due the stuffy environment of the food court. I already told hubby that no matter how good the food is, I will never go back again and the fact is the food that I tried this time, nothing really wowed me too. ◔_◔
A small photo spot. Fairly interesting if you enjoy posing with the props and deco to capture a few photos.

As for us – we’ll definitely recommend all three stalls mentioned above!
♥Verdict: Definitely a place that you should put into your Penang food hunting list!
Located at Lebuh Cecil these Penang Street Food are few of the best that highly recommended, with the champion won for the Jawa Mee competition, this stall is one of the shinning stars that shouldn't be missed. As for the Laksa, the taste and the flavor is very appetizing and packed with ingredients, these are the great Street Food of Penang.
Pasar Siti Khadijah is in a league of its own – it’s very large, colourful and filled to the brim with enterprising Kelantanese women selling produce, hot food and everything in between.
Not just food, shoes, toys, bags, cloths and clothes are also sold here. Nothing was spared, I even bought a few for Idul Fitr.
Authentic famous Kelantanese dishes are available for sampling, such as the delicious nasi kukus, the blue coloured nasi kerabu, the tasty nasi kukus, nasi tumpang, ayam percik, budu, laksam and solok lada. Distinctive to Kelantan, these food are sought after for local and international travelers as it is not readily available in the west coast.
No trip to this marvellous Malaysian outpost is complete without a visit to the weekend night market, held along the length of Jonker Street every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I was surprised that I actually love Melaka’s Jonker Street Night Market, which is likely the most touristy place in Melaka. Those who know my traveling style would know how much I loathe overly-touristy places. So, what made Jonker Street Night Market so special? It’s all about good food, reasonabl…

Almost every weekend here in Penang, I usually go to pasar (Bahasa Melayu for market, marché, mercado, palengke) in Bagan Ajam; that's only a 5-minute-1-bus-ride away from where we live in Butterworth. My usual Saturday or Sunday starts when I hop on the Rapid Penang bus at around 6:30AM and finish buying everything that our…

1) Tow Kee Hakka Mee 2) Mee Hoon Sotong (Cuttlefish Vermicelli) – (stall No. 753) 3) Konlou ‘Lou Shu Fun’ – (stall No. 735)
Perak Road Morning Market or also known as Perak Road Pasar is a place packed with good food. This is consist of harmonious delicacies. You have breakfast for all walks of life. The Roti Canai here is one of the most famous in town where most of the Penangites will recommend you this place for the Roti and also the Char Hor Fun here well acclaimed to be one of the best in town.
The stall just next to Jelutong Wet Market is selling delicious wantan mee and special lam mee, this stall has been operating for more than 50 years. The texture of the wantan mee is so bouncy and the mixture of the sauce is so flavourful. Besides the wantan new, the lam new that selling at this stall is very special too. Rather than call it lam mee, I reckon it looks more to lor mee. The coffee that is sold at the stall beside here is also very thick and flavourful.
Filipino market located at the central of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. It overlooks the ocean is commonly known as Pasar Besar (Central Market), Pasar Filipino is placed with fish, fruits, vegetables, and also handicrafts. This market made up of hundreds of tiny stores, is undoubtedly the best place to shop for souvenirs, seafood, and street food. The price of the seafood here is unbelievably reasonably affordable. With RM50 you can eat and shop until you drop.
Grouper fish was fresh and the natural aromatic taste was fully preserved with the natural steam. Scallops cooked in kam heong style and ginger clams were delicious too.
The highlight for us from our trip was these crab-filled mantous, available steamed or deep fried. We got the deep fried ones for RM5 per pop. They were not greasy at all, and the frying gave the bread a crispy texture, while the inside remained soft and fluffy. The filling was generous and flavourful – it reminded me of Singapore chilli crab. So if there’s one thing you have to get at the Pasar Malam OUG, I recommend these!
Well, I am truely impress with the amount of food stalls that OUG pasar Malam have to offer and there are much more. Will come back again for another round before hitting to Taman Connought next round.
Pricing at 50 cents per piece, the taukua is highly sought by locals due to its quality. As such, customers come and buy in large quantity and the taukua might finished in a moment
Many tasty food can be found here, some hawkers so busy that one have to line up for some time like this we kok seller (link here) (freshly made and deep fried right infront of you). some you can enjoy it there at the prepared open air tables, kopi tiams or the central food court and some you can packed for your meals later own.
The market is in the heart of downtown Kota Kinabalu so most tourists will be hanging out nearby. While the market may not have many items of interest for tourists, it is a great place to soak up the local culture and experience a traditional Sabahan market. If it’s inconvenient to be in the area on a Sunday morning, you can safely skip the Gaya Street Sunday Market. Most likely, you won’t buy anything and it’ll take you less than an hour to see all the stalls.
Mount Easkin Market Place is packed with nice food during dinner time. This curry mee here is flavourful, rich, and thick while the wantan mee here is very unique with deep-fried noodles and the freshly fried wantan. Both the curry mee and wantan mee here are finishing fast. Therefore, need to be early to avoid disappointment.
The tomato rice and the dishes here especially the fried chicken are delicious, but due to the location constraints their sales have dropped tremendously
The noodles were somewhat disappointing – it had its own unique taste and was all right but I don’t remember it tasting like that and I did hear that he used to make his own flat noodles but not anymore. The texture was not quite there and it made me feel kind of sad that what I loved so very long ago wasn’t quite the same anymore. The meat wasn’t any consolation either.
I tried it (Beef noodles special)…and yes, it was good but just that like everything else, I would rather go without the green vegetables. I shall tell the guy to leave them out the next time I come here for this.
The indoor section of Satok Weekend Market mainly features meats and fish. It is interesting to see a variety sea produces of various size, such as mackerel, tuna, stingray, prawns and even lobsters.
I placed my order for the tee piang, kosong (RM2 for 6 pieces)…and the ones with the very nice meat filling (RM1.20 per piece)…something like what one would find in those steamed char siew pao and waited patiently while the frying was going on. As soon as I got hold of my purchases, I hurried to meet my nephews and the others in their immediate family. The one based in Shanghai, China, could not resist taking a piece to eat right away, piping hot from the wok, and he remarked, “Gee!!! This is so very nice!” Of course, it was! Very very nice!
Pasar Malam (Night Market) Taman Connaught is one of the longest night markets in Kuala Lumpur. It is located in Cheras which is about 30 mins from the KL city centre. Taman Connaught Night Market claims to have about 700 stalls and stretched over 2km. The night market opens on Wednesdays from 5.30pm in the evening and peaks around 7.00-9.00pm.
Apam balik – crispy peanut and corn-filled pastries. You have to eat these on the street as the thin pastry crumbles all over!
I remember being severely underwhelmed the first time I visited here after hearing all the hype. No doubt, this is definitely where the locals go. Though this is cleaner than other wet markets in KL, it still struck me as a shabby place. I won’t deny the freshness aspect, especially for the meat. It was a hot day and the meat had been sitting on ice for several hours, but the poultry or the fish didn’t smell funky when I was walking by. The prices for chicken parts were also lower than what I could get at my chain grocers. If you have a car and live relatively close by, this is the place to get your meat.
