If you’re in Taiping, do take time out to visit the lake and attached park. Situated on the site of a former tin mine, it was established in the 1880s, and was apparently the first public garden in what is now Malaysia.
"The 64 hectares (160 acres) site was the first public garden in Malaya, and was cherished for its beauty; it has been well-maintained since its opening" .......and I must say, they are so well maintained!
The following morning, BabySumoKids went on their first kayaking experience. The backdrop couldn't have been anymore perfect; with the 400 million year old limestone hills and surrounding nature. I was majorly impressed with Hubby's kayaking skills too. Another activity checked off our bucket list ;) For those interested, you can try kayaking for RM5 per person.
One of the most amazing, coolest thing we did during the recent school holidays was getting to see, touch and feed Rain the Giraffe upclose at Lost World of Tambun, Ipoh. Rain is a 2-year old male giraffe born in Zoo Negara on a rainy day (hence the name). Now, Rain lives with other safari animals such as zebras and ostriches at the Giraffe & Friends section of the park.
we like the petting zoo and surrounded natural environment. The hot spring, sam and hubby had an enjoyable time but definitely not include me >_< Hopefully they can improve the enforcement of the dress code rules as well as the cleanliness of the pool water (if it really caused by lack of maintenance)
A giant cave temple, and a park with pond, and a very small space for boat and bicycle rental. The cave is huge, cooling with many statues for Chinese gods. The park is beautiful too, surrounded by..
While Sam Poh Tong is overrated in my opinion, Kek Lok Tong is sorely underrated. Even though Kek Lok Tong has a bunch of positive reviews online (more than Sam Poh Tong), it doesn’t get half the recognition that Sam Poh Tong receives. It is completely omitted from some top Ipoh attraction lists and only makes it on to more broad lists. I didn’t even know about this temple until my mom suggested that I visit it.
Hovering in the middle of the pond is the Goddess of Mercy, Kwan Yin.
Hiking up Gunung Kerunai (1000m) takes about 3h30m with full load for camping. The scenery is very nice, consist of Gunung Kenderung next to it, and plenty of clouds. The top is big enough to host..
If you can find a reliable ride there and back, you should make time to go to Tempurung Cave for whatever kind of tour you fancy. This was an amazing, extensive cave where I felt like I got more than my money’s worth considering how long I spent there. I also loved how the dry tours were self-guided so that I didn’t feel rushed by a guide telling me it’s time to move on to the next stop. I’m already planning for a wet tour the next time I’m in Ipoh!
The inside of Tempurung Cave is so grand that you won’t ever feel claustrophobic… at least not on the dry tours. The massive caverns have dripping stalactites that loom high overhead, yet are so large that some are beginning to join with stalagmites they have created. The long, unbroken passageway climbs up and disappears deep into the mountain, out of sight.
At the centre of the main courtyard is a God of Prosperity and a Wishing Tree, its branches weighed down by hundreds (if not thousands) of wishes written on red cloth.
Having a shot here at Number 5 stop: Bao Qing Tian (for those who watch Chinese drama, you will know who he is - the justice judge in ancient China who famous with his dark face and moon sign on his forehead)
Go for the sunset river cruise (RM 30) with a visit to Pulau Bangau to watch thousands of migratory birds. A must do in Teluk Intan, absolutely worth it.
Our River Cruise was by Sahril Pekan Enterprise and we had Mr Sahril as our tour guide too.. He was definitely very knowledgeable and passionate about conserving the biodiversity of Teluk Intan as well as pretty knowledgeable in providing us all the details and facts of the places we passed by…
Probably some of you are like us - being city dwellers makes us nature lovers. We've always had strong affinity to natural beings, the flora and fauna, waters and ...
I was invited by some members of Gear Nation Motorbike club to join them on a tour of Ipoh and food fest. This was what I saw and captured at this nice ...
Considering how many visitors it gets on a daily basis, Sam Poh Tong should have much better maintenance. Its rundown appearance and general uncleanliness make this temple feel overrated and not the best cave temple in Ipoh that every blog says it is. The history is deeper at Sam Poh Tong if you’re into that, but if you’re interested more in visuals, Kek Look Tong – which no one has even heard of – is much more impressive and well-kept in my opinion.
Top Ten listmakers obviously love this place, but even Ipohites seem to share this preference for Sam Poh Tong. During my first visit to Ipoh, my cousin only took me to see this temple. He claimed that the other two weren’t worth seeing, despite their close proximity. If you have lots of time in Ipoh, Sam Poh Tong and the other two temples are a couple of hours well spent.

The less-known Gunung Alai Gerik has beautiful sunrise and cloud carpet and a incredibly nice view overlooking Gunung Kerunai and Kenderong.
Bukit Kledang is a well-loved hiking spot - easily to get to, with paths that are clean, well-maintained and easy to follow.
Waterfall Abseiling at The Hidden Gem of Gopeng ~ Geruntum Falls or Lata Merkor located at the end of Ulu Geruntum Village in Gopeng, Perak.I went with Amy o...
Lata Merkor waterfall, also known as Geruntum Falls, is located almost at the end of a road of a village in Gopeng, Perak. After our nearby hike at Bukit Batu Putih Gopeng and lunch at Gopeng Hill Asam Laksa, we visited this waterfall to refresh our energy.
The sight of water cascading over layers of rocks is pretty majestic I have to say. There are also cool, shallow pools for visitors to take a dip in.
I love wandering around the side streets and backlanes of Ipoh’s charming old town. But what happens when it’s too hot to shlep around and you’re too full to retreat to another restaurant or cafe? That’s when I’d recommend a trip to Tasik Cermin.
When it comes to waterfalls, Perak slays. Thank its mountainous landscape for that. The Titiwangsa, Kledang and Bintang ranges are the source of countless watery fascinations; many pale in comparison to the magnifiscent Lata Puteh.
Lata Puteh is an epic waterfall in Perak, just by the side of the A6 road in Batu Kurau. Lata Puteh used to be known as the 3rd tallest waterfall in South East Asia, but had the claim removed due to factual inaccuracy. Still, it is one of the most impressive waterfalls I have visited! The trail to reach the waterfall was short and steep.
