The Char Kuey Teow was really good. I can understand why many food bloggers rated Lai Foong to have one of the Top 10 Fried Kuey Teow in downtown KL. The noodles were well cooked and tasty, came accompanied with egg + cockles + fishcakes + Chinese sausages + lard + prawns + taugeh. Here, when you order LARGE, you’d get LARGE, Lots of noodles. I ate it all anyway since I was really hungry. Burp!

Taste:9/10(Delicious. Satisfied with the meals here. So far they seems to serve the best beef noodles in KL. Portion were good. I tried both version of soup and dry beef noodles and found that dry version taste better. Also their dry version with peanuts which makes the noodles taste better. The meat is soft. The tendon is good and normal beef noodles bowl came with beef balls & tripes. I order extra honeycomb which is very tender and taste good in beef broth. You also have option to add crispy fish skin for tastier option)

Verdict: A solid bowl of beef noodles, and I can see why people have been flocking to the place for decades. It’s hearty, it’s comforting, and it’s substantial. Most impressive were the beef balls, which were so springy you can practically use them as ping pong balls – not a trace of tendon or whatnot left. The noodles were al dente and slathered in the savoury meat sauce.

We ordered Beef Mix Noodles (牛杂肉丸) RM10.00 that serves with a bowl of rice noodles (grounded beef as toppings) and a bowl of soup with assorted beef parts in it. The beef was tender and juicy, soup or broth was clear yet very rich in taste, overall taste like having a bowl of Bakso (Indonesian Beef Noodles) instead of the Pho Bo (Vietnamese Beef Noodles) that dashes some extra leaves and limes as flavouring.

My Personal Opinion I'm not a big fan of ramen and don't have it often enough for the very reasons why people find ramen appealing....for the intensely rich-flavoured pork bone broth and fatty meat. Maybe I should try a lighter soup base...or chicken ramen next time since I prefer clear, milder flavours. Still a worthy ramen option to those who adore big, bold flavours! ;)

We went for the Tonkotsu Ramen (RM25) which comes with imported thin noodles, in a delicious milky broth. It was really rich and creamy, which Baby C absolutely adores. It only still comes with one slice of chashu, along with spring onions, jew's ear mushroom and seaweed

Despite what we felt about Koon Kee, there are surprisingly many good reviews about their noodles on various sites notably TripAdvisor and Foursquare. Maybe it’s due to nostalgia. Or simply because these people have never had a proper wantan mee before. In conclusion, don’t waste your time here and I bet the wantan mee stall in your neighborhood coffee shop could prepare a better tasting one.

Overwhelming by this hearty bowl of Lam Mee .The lam mee taste so good with the thick gravy and generous condiments of prawns, chicken shreds, spring onions, beansprouts and cabbage. Great to have it with the hot chili together. Definitely the best lam mee in town!

I had the shio ramen (RM28 for regular) while my friend had the shoyu ramen (RM28 for regular). I still love the broth and noodles (The broth was rich and creamy, noodles had a great texture) but char siu is just mediocre. We also ordered komi tamago each - cant believe they charge RM4 for the egg now, and the one we had this trip had a strange vinegary taste to it. :(

My Personal Opinion After striking out twice with Hong Kong-style cuisine in Starz Kitchen and then HK Boy Cart Noodles, it was third time lucky and a relief to finally find Hong Kong-inspired food that I (at least) enjoyed. The prawn wontons, both the fried and soup version, are what you need to get here. The dry prawn roe noodles was the other surprise favourite but the luncheon meat rice was what I enjoyed the most. It's funny that I came here primarily to try their authentic wonton noodles (which is still more than satisfying) but leave raving about their premium quality luncheon meat and double egg rice. If I can only have one dish here, it'll be this one. Each time I'm in Pavilion now, I'm thinking of having it. ^_^

The dose of Chinese wine was a good addition, it provided that extra ‘kick’, one that made slurping the broth an even more joy. They had 3 options for noodles and while I was intending to have my dish with YM – yellow mee, the waiter suggested that it would go better with MH – mee hoon. Third stall, the one that's on the chee cheong fun stall's left) Their curry laksa with chicken @ RM10 turned out to be the most expensive of the three. When it arrived, my first impression was that the stall seemed rather stingy with their curry broth...which can be looked upon as a good sign...haha! :D That's because when they give so little, it's a sign that the broth is probably good and that's why they're so stingy with the amount. The bowl was filled with the required ingredients of soft brinjal and long beans, juicy pork skin and beancurd puffs that had absorbed the flavours of the curry, tender chicken and plump, raw cockles. The colour of the broth of this one had a more orange hue and it was also the least oily of the three. This indicated to me immediately that it probably had a bit more santan than the other two. Taking a sip of the broth, it was obvious to me that this was the best tasting one of the three. ^o^ It had the sweetness of the coconut milk that I wanted.

Their Steamed Kampung Chicken was priced at RM 29.00 for half a chicken. Though it may seem steep at first glance but I felt that it was quite reasonable. Moreover, this restaurant is famous for it and as long as it is good, the price is worth paying. I found their chicken to be quite tender and the steaming was very nicely done. My rating for this shall be 8/10.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend nor would I return to eat here again. The main reason I dropped by was to check out one of the oldest standing wantan mee restaurant in KL. Sad to say, just like Koon Kee, both have seen their best days long ago. Still, worth a try if you are longing for a taste of heritage, or what the Chinese would call 古早味.

福建面油亮油亮，不会太干，也不会太湿，浓度刚刚好，一吃就知道是高手之作，发觉这里用的虾特别大只（还有客人加虾呢） 大碌面因为浸过热水，口感特别柔软，还残留一些碱水味，入口热腾腾，很顺口，整盘福建面没多久便被我“吞”进肚子里，好久没有吃福建面吃到那么过瘾了！
