A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
Every item was good, with the only exception being the noodles having a slight kee or alkaline flavour, although this was made up for by the outstanding sauce made of dried shrimps and kelp.
Singapore is a city known for its vibrant culinary scene, where every corner offers a new gastronomic adventure. Amidst the bustling cityscape, Embu at Mandarin Oriental Singapore has emerged as a delightful oasis dining place in town. Replacing Melt Cafe, Embu takes its name from the Tembusu tree, a local evergreen renowned for its fragrant flowers and sturdy frame. This lush garden-style space invites you to rediscover the joy of eating, making it a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts of all ages.
embu at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is the well-loved Melt Café re-imagined as an all new all-day dining experience in lush green space
Melt Café, an all-day dining buffet restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Singapore is offering Indian Cuisine Dinner Menu from 8 April to 24 April 2022.
Maxwell Food Centre’s Tian Tian Chicken Rice is a Bib Gourmand award recipient serving good Hainanese chicken rice, starting at $5 a plate.
The chicken rice was fragrant and not too oily, plus grainy. Chicken was meh and slightly tough. This tasted nothing like the revelationary chicken rice that I remember from the first time I tried it. Perhaps its again this thing where I have tried too many good things since, or the first time is always the best.
I still think Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice offers one of the best versions around, and if a tourist friend comes to Singapore, I may still recommend – for its brand, for its name.
Enjoy a drink with your friends at Gin Parlour at The Clifford Pier after work with a G&T while admiring our beautiful Singapore’s city skyline.
Overall, the Clifford Pier Heritage Dim Sum Brunch was of decent quality with some delicious items, but the main highlight for me was the wonderful ambience and great service.
The Clifford Pier is a beautiful space to enjoy local delights and dim sum, and is definitely a cosy spot to catch up with friends or gather with your family.
As the only seafood restaurant in the Fullerton Bay CBD precinct, this is an ideal spot for a seafood feast where you will find familiar Singaporean flavours.
14 reviews of Palm Beach Seafood "This was was first time trying the famous chili crab in Singapore. The crab and fried rice, countered by the fresh seasoned greens was excellent. For those of you with OCD for cleanliness, you'll need to get…
Because my family had two rooms at Singapore's famous Fullerton Hotel from 29 December till 1 January, we decided to have our New Year's Eve dinner around the Marina Bay area for convenience. Initially, we wanted to reserve a table at one of the restaurants within the hotel itself, but it was booked full. So…
Love the dessert counter. From this angle, don’t you find it looks like some place out of New York?
Overall, selection is good and i think the food quality is not too bad (especially when they use vanilla seeds for their desserts). But nothing really strike me to re-visit anytime soon but i am glad we tried it.... :)
A good dining experience for its price, and with its location in the beautiful lobby of the Sands hotel, this is one restaurant to visit either for lunch or dinner.
Now we know a foodie hideout to get good local food in a comfortable environment at reasonable prices, right in the dining and entertainment core of Singapore.
enjoyable dinner for me & my friends. i took 1/2 the rice. the ingredient items were all quite good including the otah for the nasi lemak set.
48 reviews of 1-Altitude Gallery & Bar "Wonderful views of Singapore. My boss said it was cool to expense our lounge and bar visits even though I came here solely for the view. I got all dressed up and met up w/ my colleagues. There is a cover…
The greatest unique point for me at 1-Altitude is the lofty, vibrant view and a total experience package from dining at Stellar restaurant, to going up to the club lounge at Altimate or rooftop bar at 1-Altitude to cap the night; there’s no need to head anywhere else for an amazing night.
1 Altitude, Raffles Place – The World’s Highest Alfresco Bar :: Search for your next cafes and travels here! A blog on Cafe and Travel Reviews in Singapore and the rest of the world.
I have to say that I’m pretty impressed with the overall experience, especially for such a small setup.
Come make your reservations today to enjoy modern Singapore cuisine at The Quarters!
Overall, it is interesting to see Chef Deming take us through this multi-sensory gastronomic journey.
So yeah, we paid for a good ambience and an afternoon free of children and great company. The food was truly second fiddle.
The Place As one of the most established seafood restaurants in Singapore, I checked out Red House Seafood Esplanade at its newest space at The Esplanade.
This restaurant comprises of a main dining hall that seats 66 guests, and two private dining rooms with large round tables, one with 10 seats, and the other up to 14 seats. Alfresco dining with 50 seats with beautiful views of the Marina Bay waterfront are available.
I was at their Esplanade outlet for the dinner session, and it has a luxurious contemporary interior with a view of the open kitchen.
Those familiar with No Signboard Seafood may not even recognize their new menu with the addition of so many new fusion dishes. Only time will tell if these will eventually become classics one day.
Personally, it was nice, but with the many other options in CBD you would be better off somewhere else for a more affordable price.
Although these outposts are much more affordable, Mandarin Orchard does not compromise on the service, decor, and quality of the food. I welcome this change to make food more accessible to everyone and I wish all fine-dining restaurants can follow suit.
Overall, this is no doubt a good option and business initiative by the Meritus hotel group for diners to enjoy the famous Chatterbox Chicken Rice at a fraction of its original price.
Delivery or takeaway only luxe local food by Han Li Guang of Labyrinth. Rich and luxe laksa, with tau pok, fishcake, prawns, mussels and scallop dumplings. The gravy was aromatic and thick, with dried shrimps, rempah and laksa leaves. Dunno whether it was worth $28 though.
This is still a good opportunity to have hearty local dishes in the comfort of home, and will definitely impress your house party guests.
My favourite dishes are the Laksa and Beef Rendang. This is a must order.
A must-try item I feel is the Wagyu Teppanyaki (200gm/$27.80).
Sinpopo Coffee at Funan for local Craft Coffee & Draft Coffee on Tap, which tastes like stout, plus delightful Local Flavour Cakes.
I've only heard of Mooi Chin in the recent years though they've been around for decades. We're here today for that taste of nostalgia uncommon.
Mooi Chin Place Restaurant Menu contains quite an interesting mix of Hainanese Specialties, Western dishes (such as pasta and sandwiches) and regular Chinese restaurant items.
The laksa is flavoured with coconut milk, dried shrimps and peanuts, similar to satay bee hoon sauce. Very shiok!
Prices are generally on the affordable side, especially for the set lunch which would appeal to the office crowds within the area, while the service is also pretty decent with patient staff that are willing to explain the menu to the patrons.
Overall, I’d say the food is bland and requires some work.
Overall, our visit to Telok Ayer Arts Club was pretty decent.
This small chain has has been around for a while, but it was only recently that I learned to appreciate how wonderful otah can be. So it took me until today to notice how this shop has multiple varieties available, including not just various proteins, but even some larger sized options that get wrapped in banana leaves rather than coconut leaves.
