Happy! Ricebox Set - XXL Crispy Chicken, smooth cold tofu and diced century egg, with my choice of drink, Soya Milk. I really love XXL Crispy Chicken so much! It's delicious because it is very soft-golden crispy!
Moomikins decided these were too heavy for a quick afternoon bite, so she ordered plain waffles with a dash of syrup. If you want to build your own waffle, you can do so by choosing a flavour and different toppings / ice cream. The waffles here are nice and fluffy. Crispy exterior, pillowy soft insides. Not too sweet, which is great.
Verdict: The tong shui is decent. Prices are average for a resto of this setting. Service is quite slow. It took awhile for our orders to come to the table, despite the shop being empty.
Pretty good fried banana fritters and friend nian gao. The batter is nice, kinda special.
The fresh bananas are peeled battered on the spot, and fried at the roadside stall. We didn’t get to try the curry puff, but all fritters were great, with pisang goreng being the best of course. What makes the goreng pisang here stand out from the rest is the use of pisang raja which are firm, soft and incredibly sweet.
While I wouldn’t say these fried fritters were out of this world, they were still delicious and definitely better than those I had eaten previously. This is so far my champion of pisang goreng! 🙂
Our favourite here has to be the Red Bean Ham Chim Peng (RM1.60) due to the generous filling of red bean paste (good texture, not cloyingly sweet) and puffed pastry.
This shop sells Crispy Cakoi and many other traditional fried snacks and desserts all day! Its a local favorites store! Their Tau Fu Fa’s brown sugar has a l...
They sell tofufa (soybean curd), hong tao sui (red bean sweet soup), and many other types of tong sui; deep fried snacks such as yao char kwai (chinese cruellers), sweet "Ham Chim Peng" with red bean fillings, "Kap Choong" (the one with glutinous rice in the middle), "Ma Keok" (literally means Horse Hoof - the one with the sesame seeds on it), savoury "Ham Chim Peng" (flavoured with 5 spices); chee cheong fun, mee hoon and other light food.
How Yau Char Kwai is made. This is also known as Youtiao or Cakoi
Love the texture of yau char guai and usually I would pair it over Kopi O kau during my tea time. Love the taste of their glutinous rice where it is not to sticky, sweet where it is just perfect with mild fagrant oil taste and the crisp at the edges.
Well worth the wait, each piece is crunchy on the outside, soft inside and light. I can imagine this will be great with a bowl of piping hot soy bean milk or plain porridge. If you're a crispy dough addict, head over here as this may just be the best ones in the town.
Nasi Lemak Curry Puff I could not detect any taste of coconut milk nor pandan. The main taste of the fillings is sambal. There are whole peanuts, pieces of anchovies, a small piece of hard boiled egg and small pieces of proper chicken meat (not reconstituted ones). It is only slightly spicy. Compared to other curry puffs, this nasi lemak curry puff has a lot more ingredients in it. Having tried it, I don't think I will buy it at the normal price though I may buy it if there is a discount because it tastes fine for a curry puff.
Must Try! 2 for MYR 7.60 and 1 for MYR 4.10 - New Curry Puffs that contain Egg, Chicken, Peanuts, Anchovies and Sambal Chili. Will you buy one or two to try?
At about MYR 3.30 per piece, the fillings are less now due to its flat shape although the piece of hard boiled egg is still there for the chicken potatoes curry puffs. Now they have added more choices such as satay chicken puffs and chicken rendang puffs among others.
No longer run by the original auntie, but the stall does have her brand name. Taste and texture wise is just average.
Frankly speaking, I have had many better muah chee at pasar malam. But ultimately, it’s more about more about supporting Madam Tang, who, in spite of her age, is still trying to make an honest living at the corner of a busy market.
Covered with a heavy layer of finely grated peanuts, the muah chee were chewy yet not sticky and the distinctive flavourings were actually pretty fragrant without appearing to be overly artificial.
Taiyaki is a popular Japanese dessert where a fish-shaped "eggette" sort of pancake is filled with matcha paste. The recent craze revolving Taiyaki has been taiyaki filled with ice cream. But! The opening of Croissant Taiyaki was sure to top all the other taiyaki in the market, well, at least for me.
Of course need to try one of their classic which is Azuki Red Bean @ RM 7.50. Paste is just nice yet not too sweet. Besides that, I went another round to try out their hybrid filling which is Red Bean & Matcha Ice Cream @ RM 8.50. Turns out to be quite interesting. Feels like eating Ice Cream Roti.
Back to basic, where this was a random hunt that I brought my ex colleague back to a place that I constantly used to crave for my fried fritters or this famous Goreng Pisang. This little food truck that sits right infront of Pelita SS2, is one one of a stall that you would love to hunt for simple snacks. Being around for quite a while and now her son is assisting in continuing the business.
Of course, the main star that keeps us coming back for more are the Banana Fritters (炸香蕉). The batter on the outside has always been crunchy yet thin and the banana on the inside was sweet without a texture that is too soft. These are probably our favourite banana fritters in the Klang Valley to date!
The food price range from RM0.50 to RM 1.50
Churros dengan perisa Cinnamon, cheese dan coklat RM4.90 setiap satu
For their classic, I would choose their cheese over their classic Cinnamon, add on cream cheese as it seems do not work for me. Go for their Filling Chu version.
I love this 1978 cucur udang and that is the reason why I went to Sea Park to try it. This reminds me of my dad’s cucur udang that comes with generous amount of prawns with flavourful taste. I will come back again for more.
Overall, we recommend these as a great snack for breakfast, lunch, or tear as they are open daily from 7am until 7pm. They serve their fritters with chilli sauce, but we always prefer to eat the fritters on their own. RECOMMENDED!
Another new item is "紫薯麻糬鸡蛋仔 Purple Potato Mochi", both are best consumed when fresh steaming hot. Not bad!
I passed by Eggette Lab many times and saw long queues. A Hong Kong Snack also known as the famous Hong Kong style Egg Waffle. "Is it nice meh?" I thought to myself. "Maybe it is just like our local bahulu kuih made from eggs and flour". But I couldn't resist it last night at Sunway Pyramid when the sweet aroma of eggs was so strong when I walk pass by this Eggette Lab.
Verdict: 1. Yummy and filling snack but it can be quite sweet after finishing 70% of it. 2. The only downside is, the long queue can make you wait for 20-30 minutes. 3. Recommended: Charcoal Cheese, Green Tea
A pack of long fries at MYR 9.50 nett. Long fries are basically thin and long sticks made from the same batter as churros. I chose nacho cheese sauce instead of cheddar cheese or spicy sauce because I did not want a spicy sauce and when I asked the cashier on the difference between nacho cheese and cheddar cheese, she said that nacho cheese sauce is salty whereas cheddar cheese sauce is creamier and on the sweet side and I prefer salty. The long fries taste similar to yao zhar kwai (chinese cruellers) but is crispier. I did not count how many sticks there are in the pack but I think there are about 10 sticks.
Original Churros RM5.90 Flavour : Cinnamon / Chocolate / Cheese Dipping Sauce (+RM1.90): Chocolate / Cream Cheese / Butterscotch / Blueberry Cinnamon churros is the bestseller of Street Churros, it is my favourite too! Every churro is dusted nicely with flavour powder.
I personally feel that the Filling Churro is more enjoyable as the creamy filling melts in the mouth as we bite through the crisp piping hot churro. Again, my favourite is the lightly Cream Cheese filled churro, which is slightly more savoury but not overpowering. Good to try even if you may not be a fan of cheese.
We're glad to have visited this popular spot at Rojak & Cendol Shah Alam that serves awesome Durian Cendol! If you're a durian lover, you should definitely try this heavenly dessert combination
Gindaco also offers Yakisoba (with or without egg which I tried it earlier this year around CNY).
Cheese Mentaiko Takoyaki RM16.90/8 pieces
For those who frequently travel along LDP, you should notice a rojak and cendol truck parked at the side of the road leading into Taman Megah. Judging by the number of customers I have seen camping there, its popularity can certainly match Cendol & Rojak Mustaffa in Section 17. Despite knowing its existence for years, it was only until the last weekend that we decided to give it a try.
If you happen to pass by Lorong Yap Ah Loy, you will see an elderly lady with a simple pushcart stall set up at the corner. She sells one of the most delicious kaya swiss roll in town. In KL town, there are lots of good food to be found at every nook and cranny if you know your way around. Apart from her famous kaya swiss roll, she is also selling egg tarts, kaya puff and individually packed kaya in a container.
The Swiss roll was fine in texture and justly soft – each bite was dense, yet fluffy with a good amount of aromatic kaya (coconut jam) which the auntie made herself. You can also buy the kaya (RM3 per small tub) from her. I liked how the roll had an eggy and caramelised flavour from the hours of cooking. Slightly pricier compared to Yut Kee, but this tastier and made with a lot of care.
