We visited this beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeautiful Fortune Dragon statue in a park. Located at Yong Peng, Johor, this dragon is actually an art museum of Chinese history. Standing at about 350 feet, it is currently in the Malaysia Book of Records as the biggest dragon tunnel in Malaysia. Che Ann Khor temple sits right in front of the dragon which clearly signifies prosperity.
The first thing you should do after arriving is to buy tickets for Fortune Dragon entrance. Otherwise the temple is free for entry. An adult who produces a MyKad will have to pay a RM25 entrance fee whereas for the fee is only priced at RM10 for a senior citizen holding a MyKad, children 3-12 years old and local Yong Peng resident.
The statue has ranges in height from 3.6 to 4.8 meters with 144 steps inside. You can actually enter the dragon through its mouth, pass through the length of its body and exit out the tail. Inside, the dragons “body” is air-conditioned and decorated with 42 Chinese paintings. 24 paintings depict the teachings of the Buddha and another 18 paintings depict the afterlife. Ancient Taoist folklore has it that people who enter a dragon’s mouth and exit through its tail will enjoy good fortune and be able to ward off evil.
This is part 1 of 4 where in we visited the beautiful village of Putuo
This is the 3rd day of our trip to Johor Bahru. On this video we visited the beautiful Arulmigu Glass Temple in the morning
I bet the next time I visit the temple, it would have more addition of statues and the landscape could be even nicer than what I encountered in October 2022.
Our next destination was Si Hai Long Wang Temple 四海龙王大伯公庙, which worship a few deities as well. There are 月老 (God of Marriage), 城隍 Cheng Hwang (The City God) and 南海观音 Nan Hai Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy).
