This is now my favorite coffee shop in the areas of Jalan Tan Hiok Nee and CIQ for coffee, toast and even chicken rice (more the rice)! Needless to say, a second visit would be coming very soon!
I will return at an earlier timing next time so that I can check out the rest of the interesting coffee beverages like Holy Grape, Mocha Fantasy etc.
Noodles were chewy and despite being drenched with lard oil; it wasn't as tasty with the spiciness overshadowing the good taste of noodles. Saving grace was of course the crispy pork lards, and the slices of lean char siew, which were surprisingly flavorful.
Known as 茶楼 Cha Lao Dim Sum, which literally means a teahouse in Chinese, the prices might not be the cheapest in Malaysia but quality was said to be better! Do note that it can get very crowded for breakfast and my visit was timed at past lunch hours; at about two plus pm.
As usual, KSL Mall is a must visit for the massages and earlier this year; I even booked a staycation at KSL Hotel and Resort!
Verdict: Without any anticipation, our lunch at Soon Lai turned out to be a rather pleasant one, if only the waiting time to be shorter. Tasty food and wallet friendly pricing, I certainly don’t mind to come back again!
This cafe was awarded the "Best Chicken Chop in Malaysia" title by The Star newspaper in 2003. They even put it up outside their shop. Not very humble, eh? haha
Their cafe interior is quite well-organised and is so modern and chic with walls and simple decorations which makes it super instagrammable.
Our next destination was Si Hai Long Wang Temple 四海龙王大伯公庙, which worship a few deities as well. There are 月老 (God of Marriage), 城隍 Cheng Hwang (The City God) and 南海观音 Nan Hai Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy).
