Red curry [Pork (RM19.80)/ Seafood (RM23.80)] If you adore hot and spicy food, this dish is not to be missed. There's just something so unique about Thai's red coconut, which sits on the sweeter side in comparison to Malaysian curry, but delicious in their very own distinct way. This curry is ideal to be eaten with rice, its thick and savoury broth would make you engulf the rice in no time. We opted for pork, and they were pretty fresh and came in decent amount. Basically their curry is on par with most of the Thai food chains out there, but are more reasonably priced. So the next time you're craving for Thai curry but not ready to burn a hole in your wallet, this place is definitely your go to.

When it comes to Thai Green Curry, I usually like the gravy thick and packed with flavors. The one served here sure did deliver. The gravy was flavorful, the distinctive taste of green curry was evident here. It came with a generous portion of chicken meat, brinjal and long beans. It was yummy, I enjoyed myself. Burp!

One of the must-try pasta dishes at Greyhound Cafe is the Spaghetti with Dried Salty Fish (RM26). For me, this is pretty similar to an aglio olio, with the addition of holy basil leaves and chillies as well as the crispy salty fish (which is not to be mistaken for salted fish as this is quite lightly salted) which adds texture to the overall dish. I love the heat from the chillies and the fresh flavours from the herbs.

Moving next, we had the Christmas-on-Fire Spaghetti with Turkey Meatballs (RM32). The meatballs are made from turkey and then it is then fried till crispy perfection and topped together with the freid garlic and chily. The al-dente pasta paired with the boucy juicy meatballs were just good and whats more with the kick of spiciness that comes with it.

One of our favorite dishes from their festive menu is the Tom Ka Rice with Sun-Dried Beef Strip and Som Tam (RM36). The beef strips are first marinated, hung out to air-dry, then deep fried and is served with a tangy, spicy tomato jaew sauce. It's like beef jerky but meatier, slightly chewy and absolutely delicious. This also comes with a green papaya salad (som tam) and aromatic Thai-style galangal rice pilaf cooked in coconut milk.

Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings RM18 Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings , one of our favourite Thai street snacks. The Poke, 20 ringgit. Man, this dish was delicious! This is apparently a Hawaiian inspired dish which comes with lemongrass fried chicken , egg, several vegetables and K2’s special peanut sauce. At first glance, every item on the plate seem separated, only to be connected by their special sauce blend but upon mixing it all up, it sure did blend well. Every mouthful was yummy and i would totally order this dish again. …. and did I mention that this dish is only 20 ringgit, which also includes free flow of lemongrass drink and prawn crackers? The majority of the menu leans towards Thai specialities with Japanese offerings making up a small part of the menu only. The few that I tried, I have to say the Thai dishes made a more positive impact. The food I've managed to try here is average at best (though there's still plenty to try as the menu is quite extensive). Prices may be a little on the high side (for both types of cuisine, especially the desserts) but some of the Thai dishes do come in generous portion-sizes. I'm not sure if I'm convinced to order from the Japanese section of the menu again since they failed to nail the salmon skewer which I thought is one of the easiest things to execute. Managed by the fine folks of Chakri (of which I had the pleasure of dining before), I think the Thai dishes here are still worth checking out as they certainly won't be as expensive as Chakri. Just don't go in with too high an expectation and you should come off satisfied.

All in all, places like Riverboat are a gem that should be treasured. Their prices are affordable, quality of food is excellent and they are more focused on taste and authenticity of the cuisine they provide and take pride in making sure the needs of patrons are attended to. During lunch and dinner hours it can get pretty packed so make sure you call ahead and place a reservation. My advice is to come with an empty stomach together with a company of good friends or family members who have good appetites and eat to your heart’s content!

For our Chap Goh Meh celebration this year, we decided to eat out at Riverboat, one of our favorite Thai restaurants. We called a day in advance to reserve a table as well as pre-order the BBQ tilapia fish as it takes about 45 minutes to cook.

Pad Thai, 12.90 ringgit Okay, if you like your noodles texture being slightly wet and sticky – like I do, then, you’d certainly loveeeee this dish. The dish overall was great, tasted awesome. A generous mix between noodles + eggs + prawns + chicken + squids. I enjoyed it, burp.

As this is our first time here and just a few days after our trip in Bangkok where we had a lot of Thai foods, Baan26 surprises us. Their food is actually quite good. Their tom yum is comparable to the authentic ones we had in Bangkok. In fact, I think that it is even better than some of the tom yum we had in Bangkok.
