Pinxin also does a range of vegan sauces and condiments. We actually intended to head back to pick some of these up, but ran out of time. Never mind; we’ll definitely go back when we are next allowed to travel to Penang.
It is a lovely place with many seating places to choose from. The environment is nice and comfortable.
品馨蔬食館秉持着為顧客的味覺找到原味的信念烹飪料理,在檳城四條路營業了半年。
Possessing nice aroma, their Volcano Fried Rice was enjoyable though their thick brown sauce may look unappetizing at first glance. Somehow the fried rice shares similarities with Nasi Goreng Pataya we used to have in Malay warung.
Here's the location.
Food here is good, i personally like their Black Pepper Udon. The black pepper taste is strong with its fat udon noodles, it is tasty. It is serve with some carrot and vegetables in it. The serving size is small, i wish it is in bigger portion.
The Cold Sesame Noodles consisted of a mixture of julienned Cucumbers, Carrots, caramelized Vegetarian Ham and Enokitake Mushrooms... served over Sesame Salad dressing. The noodles were silky smooth rather than the al-dente type but the concoction was most refreshing and delicious. They did a nice twist to the Mushrooms by adding Sugar to caramelize them, introducing a tacky-crisp texture and sleek sweetness to the dish.
Overall, Environment here is comfortable and their service is good too.
Similarly, I had tried their Vegetarian Loh Mai Kai and it was just awesome. Seriously good and it was not greasy. 9/10 would be my rating for this.
Brown Poodle Burger Platter (RM 19) is a creative creation of a vegetarian dish. It uses baked bagel (burger buns are available too) and have the meat patty replaced with crunchy soy patty, which we did not realise even. It it served along with cheese, fresh vegetables, tomato and pickles, then air fried seaweed fries on the side. Overall is not a bad choice, just we feel the sauce topping the burger a tad confusing.
All above taste awesome and super delicious, especially Bee Hun Soup which is extremely strong in flavor. The best part of Xiang Yun dishes is the “meat” are nicely done texture and flavor.
Xiang Yun Vegetarian Delight (香雲素食坊) is one of the few vegetarian shops in Penang that also have elements of a café.
Visiting Xiang Yun Vegetarian Delight 香云素食坊 for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by its approach of using vegetarian ingredients and making them into palate pleasing meal. Located on the first floor of Vantage in Tanjong Tokong, Penang, this is the third Xiang Yun outlet to open in Penang, after two other locations at Kompleks Lebuh Nipah and I-Avenue.
In terms of environment, Friendship Vege Cafe is a comfortable place, with enough seating place for dine in and service is not bad.
Bodhi Tree Cafe is the place for nice Vegetarian. Vegetarian's Bak Kut Teh is one of the signatures here
Awakenings serves no meat but it's not fully vegetarian in terms of 素 Su Vegetarianism as they do serve onions.
There's a literal smorgasbord of cafes and restaurants in every corner of Penang but none operates the way like Awakenings does. The team behind the meatless cafe has an ambitious mission... to educate and create awareness of healthy living/ lifestyle; in which many are intoxicated by the unhealthy lifestyle (whether forcefully or willingly). They wish to share the message that living healthily is achievable with little effort, everyone should start from small and that includes... a healthy meal. The cafe serves as a platform for communal offering. It does not operate for profit, anyone who shares the same vision may join in; raw ingredients can be provided to individuals to churn out snacks/ food to be sold in the cafe. One needs not contribute in monetary form, rather... the effort to cook/ bake the delicacies. Taking the idea from White Ocean Strategy, there are plenty of things on sale in Awakenings- products from different countries that could contribute a good cause. Speak to the proprietor and she will be more than willing to share her story with you. Awakenings does not offer a big menu but simple, healthy snacks to munch on (mains are served during lunch hours only).
Sesame Cold Udon was equally delicious, carefully cooked Udon lightly dressed in Sesame Paste and served with a handful of fresh vegetables. The concoction feels light and easy on the palate; the chewy Udon and crunchy vegetables were of nice contrast in texture, for Rm 16.90, we thought it was of good value.
Environment here is comfortable and the service is good too.
The Original Soup Pan Mee was our favorite of the day with al-dente noodles, reasonably seasoned clean-tasting broth and generous amount of greens and toppings. Judging by the look, we thought it would be bland but it was beautifully seasoned
For Western dish, look no further for Cashew Basil Pesto Spaghetti (RM 18). The chef prepare the al-dente angel hair spaghetti noodles coated with a house blend of Pesto sauces, then topped with cashew basil. It induces a nice and moderate herby scent that had the creaminess elevated with the cashew nuts. It is a solid evidence that spaghetti can be prepared in vegan way without compromising its taste.
We started off with Dahi Puri... the standard Puri with Curry Potatoes filling and served with Mint Sauce, Chili Sauce and most importantly... Yogurt. The Puri remained crisp throughout our meal time and the combination was refreshingly delicious... especially with a generous scoop of Yogurt
