We were amazed by the quality of the 1/2 Roasted Moroccan Chicken... grilled to perfection and the skin was brushed with Balsamic reduction, slightly sweet but with a bitter end (due to the singed skin). The meat was fork-tender and perfectly good on its own but even better to enjoy with Sea Salt or a tangy Thai Green Chili dip.
おまかせ Omakase or "留给我吧" means "Leave it to the Chef"! There are no menu for the Omakase, the Chef presents to you what he/she has prepared for the meal course.
Of course, coming to Toh Soon, the must try food is their coffee and toast. Instead of going for their usual white bread toast, instead i order their Steam Black Charcoal Sesame Bread and for the spread choose to have a mixture of Homemade Peanut Butter and Homemade Kaya mix together with this bread. The bread is soft because i choose to have it steam and the kaya is tasty, it goes well with the Peanut Butter.
Using homemade chili paste – Mee Goreng Mamak here is a truly Penang Mamak food.
Not too sure if the Toasts were grilled over Charcoal fire but they were a little too dry to our liking. The Kaya and Peanut Butter spreads were alright though
Barry's Cafe 是城中刚开不久的西式餐厅,主题为西餐厅和酒吧的结合。
The shop lot is cozy, with selected private areas as well with some greeneries at the back of the shop with a larger private drink & dine area before the toilet.
Bangers & Mash seems to be one of their popular choices amongst the younger crowd. 2 foot-long Sausages were served on a bed of Mashed with a side of Green Peas... doused over luscious gravy. The Mashed was nicely done... silky smooth with creamy texture; the Sausages were not shabby either... with the much-desired bouncy meatiness to it... pretty generous portion to justify the price tag
We started off with Dahi Puri... the standard Puri with Curry Potatoes filling and served with Mint Sauce, Chili Sauce and most importantly... Yogurt. The Puri remained crisp throughout our meal time and the combination was refreshingly delicious... especially with a generous scoop of Yogurt
Lamb Stew with Garlic Toasts was the star dish of the day, the meat was tender and the flavor-combo was beautifully done. The accompanying Garlic Toasts were not shabby either, the texture was fluffy and soft, almost like buttered Brioche. The seasonings were however, on the heavier side.
