On the mains, we had both Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon and Australian Grain Fed Beef Tenderloin; the former one was safe choice with pretty simple and straight-forward flavors, the latter option on the other hand, was beyond amazing. It probably outshined the Salmon, the Tenderloin was melt-in-the-mouth tender. The red meat was carefully cooked to the right doneness with spot-on seasoning and a burst of delightful meat juice. This is definitely one of the best Beef around.

There are 2 different options- Breakfast Set (Rm 15.90 per item) and Breakfast Menu (Rm 25.90 per item), all orders are entitled for the free-flow semi-buffet. Their French Toast was a mediocre dish, Baguette-alike bread was used in lieu of soft-fluffy bread, the outcome was a hard-chewy piece of French Toast sans the eggy aroma. The Honey was of ersatz quality, though we did not expect to see Maple Syrup here but the Honey was a tad too watery to our liking.

Piece Of Sheep – RM14, served with baked beans, hash brown, greens, breads and egg (of your choice), ham and lamb sausages. Compared to the rest of the sausages on this platter, the lamb sausage was the best. There are not many places I’ve known of that serve lamb sausages. I love the aroma of the lamb sausage and also the bacon was also grilled to perfection. The most attractive part, it was very reasonably-priced.

Pork Burger with Egg – RM14.90. Specialty pork burger with BBQ/ Black Pepper/ Teriyaki sauce with fries and salad. The Pork/ Chicken burger here is one of the signature dishes. The specialty of this burger is their homemade patty. The juicy and tender patty was topped with cheese and a slice of egg. It's uncommon for Gurney Drive to have new restaurants, the seafront promenade already has a spate of well-established cafes and restaurants. Sea Brew is a rare occasion; previously a hawker place and now turned into a cozy Cafe-Bar space. The facade is inviting, with wide and bright entrance; Sea Brew comes across as a cafe due to its setting but amazingly, the bewilder menu comprises of Steamboat Hot Pot, Western Cuisine and some home-made sweet treats, with options of alcoholic beverages (big menu but not all were available on our visit). But a meal here costs a bomb, expect to pay at least Rm 30 for a main course; while we did enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with soothing sea breeze, we thought the food quality did not quite well-justify the hefty price tags.

A new kid on the block, Colonial Kitchen Hainanese Cuisine is one of the latest eateries at Pulau Tikus (opposite Wisma Perkeso). The place serves an unassuming and unabashed Hainanese menu with some classic highlights such as Hainanese Pies, Chicken Chop and Pork Chop etc. It has been receiving positive remarks since its opening. Colonial Kitchen has a simple interior decor, not unnecessary frills but some basic tables and chairs (not even air-conditioner) but this does not stop gourmands from visiting the place; those who are in the know are particularly contented with their home-made Pies. Prices are however, slightly on the higher side.

ÉNFD is an abbreviation of 'Énfold'- pronounced as 'unfold' with a meaning of 'gather and envelop' people through good food. It runs like a private kitchen, though walk-ins are welcome, the dining space is limited and could only host no more than 15 diners at a time. The dining hall preserves the sense of heritage with minimal interior decor; probably meant to encourage and enhance camaraderie amongst diners. It is a space that one could really talk and engage with each other. On the menu, the list of magical offering is unique and creatively crafted by the team behind ÉNFD; with focus on using Herbs and Spices ('local flavors') to intermingle with international flavors. The conservatives will find the menu too playful and to me, this is the attitude in lacking especially in the culinary scene in Penang. The brunch menu is only available on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 am to 3 pm.
