The reviews I read on their Facebook Page seem pretty mixed of late with complaints of either the long wait for a table, the service or they didn't fancy the type of food served. As far as the food was concerned, I had no complaints on the two we tried that morning. Not only did it taste good, it was beautifully plated as well. In fact, their version of french toast is the best version I've had so far. I actually liked that their menu is a bit more creative than the usual cafe food we get elsewhere but if you're looking for some variation of a big breakfast, you won't find it here. So, patrons looking for the standard breakfast fare of bacon, ham, sausages and eggs done any way, let me forewarn you that you might be up for some disappointment. Our half an hour wait, during peak brunch hours on a public holiday, was more than acceptable for a place like this with so much awareness. Due to the crowd, even the owner cum chef helped cleared tables and served us, so I'm pleased with the service. When we left a little over an hour later, there was still a perpetual queue (but none at the other eateries). So, what does that tell you about its popularity...or their food? ;) Personally, I would return in a heartbeat. I would so love to try more of their food...and eat that french toast again! ^o^

For something memorable from MTR 1924, you must try their MTR’s Rava Idli. This particular food item was invented by its founder, Yagnanarayana. During World War II when India was hit by the great Bengal famine resulting in the short supply and rationing of rice, Yagnanarayana modified his idlis with semolina flour (rava) to replace the rice idly turning them into a filling and healthy steamed savoury cakes that go down in history.

Next, we had a dish from the Grill menu; It is the Cuisse de poulet grille fromagerie (RM36.00) - a grilled chicken chop which is served with slow-cooked capsicums and topped with a piece of Goat Cheese with Honey and coarse black pepper. The result is you get a sweet taste from the honey and when eaten with the savoury cheese will intrigue your tastebud. This dish is a hate it or like it dish. For me, I personally find it a very interesting combination of taste.

. For something a little richer, go for the classic Boeuf Bourguignon (RM48), soft Australian beef cheeks cooked for 8 hours in a thick red wine sauce. The beef cheeks was wonderfully gelatinous, tender and absolutely melts in your mouth. The mains are served with a side dish each, which differs everyday for variety.

Initially I was afraid that the porky taste would be too strong so I was pleased when it wasn't and when I ate it with the chili paste on top, the chili covered all the porky taste so it was delicious. From Malaysia to Indonesia, Japan to Thailand, Australia to America. We've eaten at over 100 pork rib restaurants before deciding that our BBQ ribs are worth sharing with the world. Here's an idea of what you can expect from our recipe. A Colonel once conquered the world with a single recipe of 11 herbs and spices. Our recipe has 30. Combine that with an Asian cooking style and you'll know why our BBQ ribs are just bursting with flavours. Sticky and crackly on the outside. Fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy on the inside.

Our Lobster Biryani @ RM280 was served in a large steel pot, sealed with pastry dough which locks up the flavours while cooking. This dish was so massive the staff had to use a trolley to send the large steel pot over to your table. Taste wise we thought it was simply delicious and imparted a unique sweetness which can’t be replaced with Chicken, Mutton or Lamb. This hint of sweetness which came from the Lobster helped elevate the dish to a different level compared to other biryanis. The lobster by itself was fresh and succulent and had that delicious tender bite.

For the past couple of days, I have been having cravings for Don (short for donburi - a Japanese rice bowl dish). Hence I decided to drop by Five-HT, a Japanese Fusion restaurant, for dinner. One of the reasons why I enjoy fusion food so much is because the amalgamation of flavors and textures, never ceased to surprise me. Marrying conventional ingredients the unconventional way - sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't, and at most instances, I'd never know what to expect. Five-HT however, was a little bit of a hit and miss for me. Tip: Stick to the Dons and the Coffees.

And towards the end of buffet, there are different dessert cut to small size, just good enough, as we are pretty stuffed. above is cheesecake clafloutis, black forest. Below chocolate cake is just divine, it feels flourless and made entirely of ground almond (so fragrant, so fudgy, so chocolatey, and not too sweet, one of the best cake i had, craving for this…)

Black Nasi Lemak, 28 ringgit The “Black” part caught my eye. Everyone knows what Nasi Lemak is but Black Nasi Lemak ? Nope. It piqued my interest, hence why I ordered it. The dish was delicious. It came with the usual sides that accompanies a nasi lemak – anchovies + kacang, a boiled egg, cucumber. The ‘sambal’ here was prawn sambal where you would get two medium prawns with a not too spicy onion gravy. On top of that, you’d get thick, flavorful chicken curry which came with about 5 small pieces of chicken and several potatoes. The black rice though was unusual simply because it was black colored rice, lol. Tastewise, you can definitely tel it is not white rice, less starchy? I liked it, liked the whole dish.

The Classic Roman Marinated Rack of Lamb @ RM78.00 is also a new item on the menu. The rack of lamb was in marinated in classic Roman-style and was then grilled to the doneness of your choosing – best is medium raw and served with spinach cream and mashed potatoes with parmagiana sauce. Since our lamb was cooked medium raw, it was pink and slightly bloody in the middle. This is easily the best dish of the night.

WTF - What Tasty Food Restaurant

98,Lorong Maarof Bangsar 59100 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

WTF Restaurants came about from a very old dream – a dream and brainchild of three partners who talked about opening a vegetarian restaurant at every dinner party for the past 15 odd years. Being born in vegetarian families and having lived in Malaysia most of their lives, they had a lot of trouble explaining ‘vegetarian’ when dining out. Their choices were minimal, that too with a whole lot of explanation of what chefs can and cannot put in their food. They would often find eggs, seafood and many other not-vegetarian ingredients in their food and often had to resort to good ol’ Maggie when they got home.

I especially loved their pumpkin parathal. It had the usual sweetness that comes with pumpkin while also spicy. You can eat it on its own or have it with rice, it is delicious either way. Their payasam was da bomb, real delicious. There were tiny bits of wheat – sago lookalike that was chewy and it complimented the thick sweetness of the payasam real well. Yum!
