During our 3D2N Trip to Penang, we started the first day by exploring the other side of Penang, called Balik Pulau, then make our way to Tanjung Tokong where we stayed for a night. In the next 2 days, we went around George Town for a food trip.
Located along the quaint streets of Jalan Baru Balik Pulau is a culinary treasure that has withstood the test of time - Laksa Pak Aaq. For more than five decades, this unassuming eatery has been a steadfast purveyor of classic and traditional Malay-style Laksa, preserving the rich flavors and cultural heritage of the region.
In this video, we embarked on a journey to Penang Island with the purpose of exploring the Bao Sheng Durian Farm located in Balik Pulau. This farm is a third generation family-run farm that specializes in organic durians of many varieties including the famous Black Thorn.

Peter Boy Seafood, located in BP Views Kopitiam serving seafood and Asian-style cooking is one of the must-visit places at Balik Pulau for those that looking for delicious, unique, and reasonable dinners. Well known to the locals, this place is crowded with patrons even during weekdays. The dishes that must order here are the Braised Pork Trotter, Lemongrass Steam Fish, Sambal Kang Kong, and also Salted Egg France Bean. This is the place that I would be going back to again for its good food and wallet-friendly price.
Handmade without an artificial bun 'bao' is a rare item in the market, moreover is only selling for RM1 per piece, this is made this stall unique. Ting's Cottage is located at Jalan Baru, Balik Pulau. Here, the owner insists on natural handmade without artificial, and yet the price is so afforda ble with RM1 for each plain bun while RM1.50 for stuffing. However, Ting's Cottage only operates once a week which is Sunday 7 am and the bun is fast selling.

Not sure how we landed up here. This was recommended by our driver, and the seafood was indeed fresh and flavours punchy. It was a long drive out from Georgetown though.
Serving with a taste as great as previously, Ah Huat Pek and Ah Bird have moved to the new location which is now at Balik Kampung a few stones throw away. Balik Kampung is now served with good food and exciting activities. Besides the delightful Penang local food, Balik Kampung also provides a range of bicycles for those after a meal and looking for great sunset senary.
Overall, we highly recommend the Assam laksa here, as it was our favourite bowl during this Penang trip. We enjoyed the well-balanced broth and flakiness of the mackerel bits.
