Banana leaf rice is a must try and I would recommend to try out their fried chicken, ayam varuval, kambing varuval, tauhu sambal, spicy prawn, ikan tenggiri, ikan kerisi, sotong goreng, thosai and don't miss out their roti canai which is very fluffy and savory.

My portion: A few pieces of poppadom, 1 piece of deep fried tenggiri (mackerel) fish, 3 small prawns, banana leaf rice (small portion), default 3 vegetables dishes with a bit of each 5 types of curry gravy. A satisfying meal despite the curried radish being too salty (MYR 17.25 nett). I did not order a drink because I know I would be too full to eat and drink at one sitting.

Since I'm not that into banana leaf rice + I've not eaten most of the dishes served with banana leaf rice here, I can't say if it's the best banana leaf rice restaurants in Klang Valley but probably among some of the best judging from the full crowd on Sundays (making parking here a nightmare) >_< But I certainly think that the fried squid (with onions and curry leaves) and their fried vadai (my favourite vadai so far) are among some of the better ones I've had.

I find this place is totally overrated and of course they still do have their regular lovers like my colleagues. Sri Suria still remains one of my favourite which located at SS1. Now eating banana leaf rice is no longer cheap. It easily cost from RM 8 – RM 30 per person depending on what items you add on.

In summary, this place just fared okay with me. Their Banana Leaf set was disappointing, the curries excellent but most of their meat dishes were once again disappointing. I would perhaps return here for a vegetarian meal only and not for their meat dishes. I truly feel that they are only surviving from the fame earned in the yesteryear's and not for their current food standards. Price wise, they are not high like some other reviews. If you look at their neighbours Raju's, this is way cheaper but once again, the food is nothing great at all.

The fact that the basics (the banana leaf set) is pretty sucky compared to other BLR places. If you are here for that, then you’re pretty much eating nothing satisfying since the accompanying vegetables seems to be more of an afterthought rather than as main dishes of your banana leaf. If you are willing to fork out extra $$ for the mutton, fried chicken, curries and other add ons, then Kanna’s would still be a viable option for your BLR fix. Otherwise, head elsewhere where you’ll get more bang for your buck.

Anyway, our bill came up to RM28 for two. Drinks included. It could have been less if we had just ordered 1 fish and 1 chicken rather than 2 fishes and 1 chicken like we did (we ended up over-ordering the fish) but... oh well. Even with the over-stuffing, lunch was awesome. Even The Fiancé – who is super die-hard pro-Penang – said, "Wah. Very tasty, huh?" Haha. Yes! Very tasty indeed!

As for the food, I reckon Kanna Curry House’s Banana Leaf Rice is not bad if taken with the delicious fried chicken. But when it comes to curry I feel there are much better ones in Penang.

The place was packed on the evening we were there for dinner. Which says a lot about the popularity of the restaurant, and the quality of the food. The Sambal Prawns was the spiciest among the rest (not the sweating buckets, habanero experience like AWOL‘s, but still hot enough), while the chicken curry was the most lacklustre of them all. The mutton was good, typical Indian style of cooking with the tender cuts of mutton offering a most pleasant bite, complemented well by the thick and aromatic curry.
