Sous vide-cooked spring chicken RM65 -succulent and locked with moist. A dish that children and adults alike will love. Dressed in cepe mushroom reduction sauce, comes with a side of preserved red cabbage. Garlic potato puree is a little too creamy to us, but if you love real buttery, melt-in-the-mouth food, this could be your favourite.

Chef Wong takes on a bold approach with the Steamed Soon Hock with Nyonya Sauce (RM30 per 100gm). The fish is smothered in a piquant and spicy Nyonya sauce that is redolent of spices and herbs. Although the sauce is robust and heavy in flavours, one can still taste the sweetness of the firm and tender flesh of the Soon Hock fish. Another popular item at Lai Ching Yuen is the Claypot Pork Belly With Salted Fish, where pork belly is cooked in high heat with ginger, a generous amount of scallions and red onion for a bit of texture. The pork belly slices were juicy and came with enough fat for flavour. Since it was cooked with salted fish, this dish can be a bit one-dimensional in terms flavour—salty, therefore it is best to tone down the saltiness by pairing it with a bowl of white rice.

This round we also got to try the Wantan Mee @ RM9 and I was happy to see pun fei sau (half lean-half fat) cut of char siew given without requesting for it. Not only that, the noodles also came topped with crispy chee yau char...and that's why you can taste the fragrant lard oil in the sauce that's used to toss the noodles in. It may not be among the better ones that I've had, but overall, still a decent plate of wantan mee.

A plate of nasi lemak (MYR 3.50+) and one deep fried chicken thigh (MYR 5+) making it a total of MYR 8.50+ (MYR 9 nett). The rice is soft with a tinge of coconut milk. For my friend who do not eat much sambal, the rice can be a bit dry as this stall does not have any other curry gravy to go with the rice. For those who will mix the rice with the sambal, they won't find the rice to be dry.

Claypot Chicken Rice RM10 Claypot chicken rice is my friend's favourite there. The claypot has added in chicken, salted fish, “lap cheong”, dark soy sauce, ginger, sugar, and salt. Give you a savoury taste that this dish is a must-have in Malaysia Boleh! Food court.

My favourite was the Beetroot Gnocchi with Creamy Gorgonzola Cheese. Loved the chewiness and bite! It had a nice balance of flavours – beetroot was subtle but was not overpowered by the cheese

BETA is a brainchild of five dynamic individuals behind the vibrant Malaysian-inspired Modern European restaurant, Skillet@163. BETA (in Greek βήτα or letter β) simply means number 2 and a representation of the second outlet. In the Malaysian context, BETA is a royal salutation for kings or sultans, which basically means ‘I’ or ‘me’.

Chicken @ RM 45, add on with bentong ginger and lotus crips. As for this dish, I have no idea what to say as for us being local, we had too much street food and I felt that I am just eating “atas” Hainanese Chicken. not much twist of it. Too normal for my liking even knowing the meat is sous vide.

Roti Babi, 11 ringgit There were several dishes that were popular here and one of them is the Roti Babi. Just by looking around, you’d be able to see this dish on almost every other table. Sure, it is loaded with calories but it was da bomb. The top and bottom of this dish is made up of french toast and on the inside, there is a generous portion of flavorful pork minced meat + caramelized onions. Yummy!

When we reached Yut Kee, there were many people waiting for seats but we did not have to wait long and were shown to our table. We did not order the popular dishes such as Pork Bun and Hainanese Chicken Chop because we felt like eating noodles. The noodles taste ok with reasonable price.

Her absolute favorites were the mains, she single-handedly demolished the duck and lamb and was so delighted to find out they had perfectly sautéed some yummy fresh green beans, carrots and cherry tomatoes just the way we like it, barely seared, crunchy, well-seasoned yumminess. We may or may not have ordered another two more portions, which you can do as long as they have stock.

Lot 7.01.01 Pavilion Bukit Bintang 55100 Kuala Lumpur

Verdict: 1. Tapas Club is a great place for dine and wine by both the day and night. Highly recommended for special occasions, celebrations or private functions too. 2. Overall, Tapas Club has far exceeded our expectations in almost all aspects, be it the quality of food, ambiance or service. If I were to have any complaints at all, it would be the overall taste of food leaning towards the heavier (stronger) side. But no worries, pairing them with some boozes will help balance out the flavours. 3. Recommended: Garlic Prawn, Squid Ink Paella, Tapas Club Cheesecake
