The Penang Teochew community, also recognized as Chaozhou people worldwide, constitutes a minority dialect faction within Penang's Chinese population. We explored Chao Xuan Restaurant 潮轩 renowned for its Teochew Kueh, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant.
Food serve here are very to our local Penang taste. The Tomyam Fried Bihun is nice with a strong tomyam taste and a well cook Bihun but the serving size is small.
总而言之,我觉得潮轩是一个很好的地方,你可以在这轻松的氛围里享受正宗的潮州菜肴。
Here's the location.
I enjoy having my tea break here trying their lovely and tasty pastries.
The Pain Au Chocolat is one of the must-haves... the pastry will be heated up before serving to your table. It was extremely flaky and easily fall apart at the nudge of the teeth... buttery and crisp.... the combo makes it dangerously addictive. The Chocolate filling was just spot on... not too sweet but good enough to impart a chocolaty touch
Start from the quintessential Dim Sum items like Har Kaw and Siew Mai, Bao Teck Tea House offered something that most Dim Sum joints unable too... with generous fresh and plump Prawn filling (encased in thin dumpling skin). While the seasoning was minimal, the flavor was bold... mainly on the seafood sweetness
The Steamed Stuffed Bun 怀旧大包 (also known as tai bao) is served on a board with sides of greens, slices of crunchy cucumber and chili sauce. The stuffing with generous amounts of pork belly, Chinese black mushroom, chicken, egg, Chinese sausage, and one whole abalone turn the bun into one delicious delicacy.
3 bowls of koay teow th'ng (duck meat noodles) to be shared by 6 people.
TEMU's signature Burnt Cheesecake is the best-seller by far and we can understand why. The Cheesecake was addictively creamy with bold cheesy flavor. The accompanying dollop of cream added a nice silky touch to the cake. The burnt flavor was not dominant though.
Wantan Mee here is tasty, I like it noodles smooth texture and how it is perfectly cooked, the noodle is not too hard or too soft.
Everything is soooo good. Burgers and milkshakes are the best combination ever.
On the way to visit some customers on the mainland side and we stopped for breakfast. This place is known for their Toasts.
The place offers light savory meals like Chicken Porridge and Fried Vermicelli Noodles. The former choice has pulled Chicken meat with a hint of Salted Egg and Century Egg. It seemed bland at first sight but the Porridge was surprisingly flavorful, the deep fried Shallots added a crispy dimension to the creamy Porridge... definitely no complaints for that price
Long for a beautifully browned and buttered toast? Yearn for a refreshing thirst quenching smoothie? Penang is famous for its Peranakan culture, particularly the well-known Baba Nyonya community. Established in 1933 as a kuih-specializing factory, Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay expanded to include a storefront in 2016, showcasing a remarkable commitment to Nyonya kueh.
Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Kuih has earned the prestigious Bib Gourmand status in the 2023 Michelin Guide KL and Penang list.
Moh Teng Pheow Nonya Koay was where we headed for our fix of Nonya Kuehs. Having visited Jason’s Nonya House and still craving for Nonya fare, we found Moh Teng Pheow Nonya Koay a popular venue for koahs such as Kueh Lapis, Kueh Talam and Kueh Bengka.
Lavish Fusion Bakery is located at a heritage shop along the bustling Victoria Street and is ornamented with pink walls, plants, and beautiful mural art which depict the elements of strong nature, tropical and beach vibes.
But on the other hand, Wild Berries Lemonade captured our heart with its amazing taste. A taste featuring the sour and sweetness that triggers the senses in unexpected ways, YUM!! Wild Berries Lemonade @ RM 17.20
Roasted chicken Green Curry at about MYR 28.5 where the green curry gravy is served in the very small glass container shown ini the photo.
The name "Tok Tok" originates from the onomatopoeic sound a chef makes while kneading noodle dough with a bamboo pole, a tradition still observed at the entrance of this establishment.
The taste of the wantan mee are almost the same as before despite the chewiness of the noodle not as much and the gravy is more starchy. As for the Char Hor Fun, the taste is packed with wok aroma.
Tok Tok Mee Noodle House, used to known as Hong Kee Wantan Noodle now is operate by the next generation where the legacy of bamboo noodle was passed down. The taste of the wantan mee are almost the same as before despite the chewiness of the noodle not as much and the gravy is more starchy. As for the Char Hor Fun, the taste is packed with wok aroma.
The savouries (i to iv, vii) were really interesting, in particular i, iii and iv. II was really pretty too. Overall an interesting fusion experience, with much Indian influence.
Their tasting menu mainly revolves around the produce-driven concept, to recreate nostalgic flavours using bold innovative cooking methods.

Olive Oil Zucchini Bread (MYR 13) Comes with some sea salt sprinkles and whirl of smooth crème fraîche.
Both Cafe Latte (H) and (I) taste simply delicious. A beautiful combination of coffee and almond milk that packs a punch, delicious and smooth. In addition, what I love about this cafe is that they don't charge extra for Almond Milk. Sounds great right.
When it comes to pasta offerings, expect to tuck into the Seafood Risotto prepared with al dente Arborio rice. The creamy umami-rich risotto with many flavors and ingredients of tiger prawn, clams, calamari, and semi-dried tomato offers abundant heartiness.
Carbonara Smoked Duck – RM28, Smoked Duck Slices, Carbonara Cream, Egg Yolk, Speghetti Parmesan Cheese & Fresh Egg Yolk, Cracked a la minute. Even though this dish is not the signature here, yet the taste of this dish was simply delicious. The fresh eggs yolk made the pasta creamy when mixed together. On the other hand, the taste of the smock duck slices were tender and packed with aroma.
Was a bit disappointed la cause they looked like a restaurant/cafe that has it all. But then again, there were quite a lot of food items on their menu. But the Salted Egg Yolk Pasta is really the bomb!
Nevertheless, we are sold and would come back again for their croissant, and to try its other offerings.
That Sunday morning, weather was lovely that after waking up at the cozy bed of Deluxcious Hotel, we immediately retun to Le Petit for another round of visit, haha.
♥Verdict: Good ambiance and environment. Food wise, I can’t comment much on it since I only tried one dish but it was good, nonetheless.

We enjoyed their Pumpkin and Prawn Rissoto (RM 32) much. The mushy sweet pumpkin blended flawlessly with the rissoto, along with a tad of earthy note introduced by the shimeji mushrooms and handful of herbs rendered the dish appealing.
