I wanted to try Lontong and Mee Rebus but so far, I have only managed to try Lontong at MYR 16.90 nett but with the discount card, the price is MYR 15.21 nett. They do not have compressed rice (nasi himpit) so I chose mee hoon. The broth/gravy is very creamy but does not taste like coconut milk. I did not ask them what they use but I am guessing that they may have used cashew nuts by blending them to get the creaminess. I may ask them next time but the staff are always very busy.

Kwai Fa Mee at MYR 15.21 nett after 10% discount. The noodle is somewhat similar to those type of thin Hakka noodles without any kansui (alkaline) taste. Shredded carrots, green capsicums, cloud ear fungus are stir fried with the noodles so it is tasty. I like that the egg is fully cooked without any runny yolk.

Kakigori - Taman Paramount Restaurant

25, Jalan 20/13, Taman Paramount, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia

We hand craft kakigōri, Japanese shaved ice flavoured with fresh fruits and premium ingredients to bring a breeze of cool air to Malaysia (whilst making it taste nice too). Kakigōri’s fuwa-fuwa(ふわふわ) soft fluffy shaved ice is similar to newly fallen snow. It is only paired with the best of what’s in season. We never add anything weird like artificial colouring or flavouring, and they’re never, ever made from concentrate. Welcome to our bizarre, delicious, frozen paradise.

If you are in the mood for something light but besides the shaved ice, then do consider the Warabimochi. It comes in 14 cubes – 7 normal flavored and 7 matcha flavored, with a side of sugar syrup. If you are a Matcha fan and intent to truly enjoy its distinct flavor, then perhaps skip the syrup or drizzle just a lil bit. I am not really a matcha fan and so I kindda drowned the whole thing with the syrup which worked well because the syrup did tone down the Matcha flavor quite a bit which bode well with me. Once the Macha powder is drowned, I had no issue at all ‘hantaming’ it. This dish was awesome, chewy and tasty. Oooo, I even had a couple of cubes with the shaved it – the difference in texture and taste was fantastic.

I had the fish burger (Above) while JW had the lamb. They were stacked, humongous and messy – and I liked how homemade the patties tasted – none of that frozen, processed sht. Also topped with a generous amount of oozy cheese and slices of pineapple for a sweet/tangy kick. The fries were meh but edible.

My special salted egg yolk beef burger (MYR 21.80 nett). I enjoyed eating this burger although the strong taste of beef does compete with the strong taste of the salted egg yolk for my attention. This salted egg yolk sauce is different from those in Lao Sar Bao. I believe some curry powder has been added to it to make it stand out as a savoury sauce instead of being on the sweet side.

I finally tried myBurgerLab after 5 years of telling myself “lets go there one day”. The main reason I skipped myBurgerLab when they first opened was because of the queue to get in during the peak of their popularity. But even after the opening of 3 additional branches, there is no sign of their popularity waning. In fact, there was still a queue when we came in for late dinner around 9pm. Luckily, it was a fast moving one.

My Personal Opinion I don't think I've come across any kuey teow th'ng in KL that offers pork intestines and coagulated blood as an option. I've only had it with shredded chicken, fish balls and fish cake so far. I read that this is an authentic version of Penang kuey teow th'ng though there's also another version that comes with duck meat and duck blood too it seems. If you like a good kuey teow soup, this is a contender.....innards or not! ^.^

Peter Pan, 21 ringgit. Oooo man, this is hands down, one of the best waffles I’ve tasted in a while. Seriously. I loved it! Peter Pan is basically a combination of Pandan Waffle + Coconut Ice Cream + Pandan Kaya + Butter Crumble + Hawaiian Coconut Flakes. Certainly an all around delicious combination. The waffle itself was not overly sweet, the pandan flavor was prevalent, a lil fluffy, a lil soft with a surface that is crispy. The butter crumble was a terrific addition, it resembled cereal in looks and texture and with the help of coconut flakes – you should certainly anticipate a burst of flavors and textures. The ice cream was good and decadent. Having it with the waffle was great, the mix of warm and cold, creamy with fluffy and crunchy – was awesome. I however decided to have the ice cream on its own because both the waffle and the ice cream was yummy, I’d rather enjoy it on its own and appreciate the different flavors and texture 🙂

Crab Factory - SS 2 Restaurant

21, Jalan SS 2/64 47300 Petaling Jaya Selangor Malaysia

The Crab Factory was inspired by an adventurous Summer-kissed road trip where we experienced a melting pot of Louisianan culture – the home of Jazz and Blues, the love of celebration and festivals and most unforgettably, the backyard Crab Boil. We were immediately hooked and eager to bring back a taste of our travels to Malaysia to share these newfound tantalising flavours with the discerning local food scene. For how could anyone resist a feast of the freshest seafood, doused in an aromatic blend of seasonings and spices, with all the rustic fixings of sausages, potatoes and sweet corn? Trust us, you might find yourself up to your elbows in drippings at the table, but by the time you're done, there won’t be a drop of goodness left.

Despite being nothing Louisiana about it, the Creamy Asam Pedas sauce may be their best one yet. Asam pedas pairs excellently with seafood, this is no exception. We had it with the Crab Coma (2 pcs of XXL crab) and found that the spicy and tangy flavor really accentuates the natural sweetness of the crab, or any kind of shellfish. Truly finger licking good and I highly recommend it.

Earl Grey Mojito RM7.90 This drink also came highly recommended by the barista and I can clearly see why. This alcohol-free drink is absolutely refreshing! The earl grey tea added a crisp flavour to the traditional mojito! Underneath the minty citrus blend, the drink ended with a creamy base note of early grey which lingers for a bit. Quite an interesting adventure for the taste bud, but definitely a good one.

Prosciutto Burrata E Carpione 👍 The highlight of this Hors d'oeuvre has definitely got to be the Burrata cheese. For those of you not in the know, Burrata looks like Mozzarella. They have the same appearance and texture, but that is where the similarity stops. Burrata is actually something like a cheesy pouch of Mozzarella stuffed with fresh cream and soft stringy curd. It is always served fresh and doesn't keep for very long, lasting no more than a day or two at the most. With its rich milky buttery taste, it goes very well with bread, so I was pleasantly surprised it made its way here with the Prosciutto.

The food here is pretty alright, just not the best value for money. Our food is not warm enough when served, so it gotten cold pretty fast. - The free foccacia bread is pretty good. - The escargot with garlic and olive oil is alright, though I would prefer it to be more cheesy. - The tomato pasta is okay, though I would like it to be softer. - The pork belly and rib is actually very nice, tasty and melt in the mouth. It would be better off it's slightly warmer.

Nasi Lemak, 6 ringgit. Man, this was delicious. The chicken sure was tasty. I received a thigh piece with plenty of meat on it. Yay! It sure was flavorsome, packed with spices. You’d literally feel/taste it with every bite. Their ‘sambal’ was different, yummy nonetheless. I noticed the regulars requesting an additional /top up for the sambal and yes, perhaps next time I will do the same with some extra kacang on the side too because it was hardly enough. It was not a case of them giving me little, nope, not at all, the case here is that it is yummy and tasty that you tend to pile on the sambal with each mouth. So, that explains why literally every table requested for an extra serving of sambal. The Nasi Lemak as a whole was delicious.

Firstly, we have to say that the fried chicken is one of a kind, something new which we’ve never tasted before. It was crispy and aromatic, as all fried chicken should. The unique part is its skin which almost tasted like muruku. Upon closer look we saw some Indian spices such as cumin and fennel seeds which explain the unique taste.

The main dishes I tried didn't quite endear me with their taste possibly because it was just too much meat (for me) in one sitting. The draw factor for its popularity is certainly its low prices (with most mains costing below RM20) and big portions. If you're ok with the unimaginative and simple taste of localised western food (and some processed food forming part of the ingredients), then you'd probably be ok with the food here.

Ticklish Ribs & 'Wiches - Sea Park Restaurant

5 Jalan 21/11a Sea Park 46300 Petaling Jaya Selangor

From Malaysia to Indonesia, Japan to Thailand, Australia to America. We've eaten at over 100 pork rib restaurants before deciding that our BBQ ribs are worth sharing with the world. Here's an idea of what you can expect from our recipe. A Colonel once conquered the world with a single recipe of 11 herbs and spices. Our recipe has 30. Combine that with an Asian cooking style and you'll know why our BBQ ribs are just bursting with flavours. Sticky and crackly on the outside. Fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy on the inside.

Ticklish 的猪肉料理属于中规中矩,也许我还没有尝试过他们的招牌烧猪肋排,但是以价格来说,已经足够让我去比较好的西式餐厅吃上一餐了。

The food we sampled was good but not great, I think the only reason for me to come back most probably is their signature pork ribs which we didn’t try this time.

The traditional Prawn Mee was very nice, I think prawn-based soup was a little bit on the sweet side and not as spicy as I'd imagine it to be, which fits my taste buds. Nice!

我喜欢Nyonya咖喱鱼丸,因为咖喱包装了一个冲击力。也就是说,这并没有向我招呼“槟城”小贩,所以只把它当作一种(美味的)小吃。

We wanted to eat at O&S coffee shop but it was full house with no empty seats to even share a table so we walked to Choon Prawn Mee House which is just a few shop lots away to have our breakfast there instead.

The pork chop rice (MYR 12 nett) No surprise there when I removed the upside down bowl to reveal plain white rice. The thin piece of pork lightly coated with bread crumbs seems a bit dry because I did not douse it with the red garlic oil provided in a small metal container placed on the plate. Passable but not memorable. I kept half of this meal for dinner.

Special Pork Leg with Rice (Kao Ka Moo) @ RM 8.90. This is one of my favourite as with such a price, this is pretty good meal for lunch where pork is so soft and add on with salted veggie at the side is just perfect. For such pricing and food quality, I certainly will be coming back.

The Restoran offers an array of choices: charsiew, fish/pork balls, chicken feet, chicken innards, steam beancurd (which looks interesting), and curry chicken; in either noodles, or rice option.

Prosperity Bowl's poached Free Range Chicken was tender with gelatinous-smooth skin... served over a luscious Soy sauce and home-made Chili sauce; while the barbecued Pork carried an indelible sweetness with pockets of fats. A surprise factor, the blanched Bean Sprouts were unusually crunchy and juicy, almost akin to those found in Ipoh... makes a great addition the variety nevertheless. Diners have the option to choose between Rice and Koay Teow (Porridge is also available).

My Lunch: A small bowl of white curry noodles 'kosong' so it does not have any meat, just beancurd puffs, beansprouts and long beans - MYR 4.50 nett. A bowl of pumpkin dessert with cubes of yam - MYR 3.50 nett - I like this dessert because it is just slightly sweet. Total price is MYR 8 nett.

My Personal Opinion Still more than a decent place for roasted meats with a few crowd-pleasing side snacks, crispy or otherwise. Best choice will be the char siew followed by the poached or fried chicken and siew yuk in that order...hehe! ;) The texture of the wantan noodles, which are thinner than the norm, tends to be a bit on the soft side (I don't remember them being this soft previously). Either that or they were overcooked. So, if you don't like soft noodles, have your roasted meats with rice instead. I did enjoy their new dish of minced pork with barbecued sausages as I find the noodles of this one not as soft.
