That's frustrating for someone who loves his crabs and I decided to make a trip down to the UNESCO Malaysian city, with the primary objective of checking out this particular restaurant that my sister, and brother in law, had been raving about; Restoran Tong Sheng!
We didn’t dislike any of the dishes, but we weren’t excited by any of them either. It’s good home-style cooking, but it’s not going to blow your socks off. Service was efficient and the food came fast.
Verdict: With so many good reviews I’ve read online (some even said this is the best choice when comes to Nyonya dining in Melaka), my dining experience certainly wouldn’t make it the best Nyonya restaurant in Melaka. Perhaps I’ve order the wrong dishes. Food was just decent but did not mind-blowing and I’ve had a better Nyonya meal elsewhere. (Read THIS)
This little Nyonya restaurant is located at Melakaraya area. We went pretty late, about 2pm-ish and yet the queue is still long! Nevertheless, the wait was not that long. We observed that the dishes come within 10 minutes after sitting down, so most of the dishes may have already been prepared way earlier.
Chicken rice balls are one of the most fun (and delicious) foods to try when you visit Melaka in Malaysia - you should try them at Kedai Kopi Chung Wah Cafe
The dining place is just like any typical kopitiam with no aircon at all but the price of the foods are definitely cheaper and the foods are quite nice too.
What is so unique about this place? Well, is just that the rice had turn into round shape. Chicken is pretty normal and nothing to shout about.
My best friends and I headed on a road trip to Melaka and then to Ipoh and Cameron Highlands recently…

We wrap up the whole meal with a plate of stir-fry cabbage RM3.00 (RM1.50 per head) since the lady boss highly recommends to us, just decided to have it since it was cheap and need to meet our fiber intake quota for that day. 😉 Guess our tongue was malfunctioning because we really felt that the stir-fried cabbage was the best dish we had throughout the meal (the first dish we cleared in Hoe Kee), cabbage has an irresistible crunchy texture and tend to be less greasy, super sweet and flavourful with a delightful scent of garlic – with this dish alone guess we can clear a plate of plain rice without any problem!
Price : 5.0 / 10 ( 1 – Expensive , 10 – Cheap) Taste : 7.0 / 10 ( 1 – Nightmare , 10 – Heaven). Service : 6.5 / 10 ( 1 – Terrible , 10 – Good) Environment : Restaurant Seats Availability : Very limited but short waiting time Parking : Very limited
Hoe Kee Chicken Rice, a popular destination for Hainanese Chicken Rice Balls.
Its a nice place and once again Thank You the owner for being so nice allowing us to chip in after his operating hours. I really favor nyonya food therefore my choice of selection is quite particular so may not be the best Nyonya food that I have tried but definitely is one of the famous in Malacca that you can tried some local taste with reasonable price. Rating: 6.8 /10
Finally here comes our long-awaited main dish, The Sambal Udang Petai RM19.00 featuring stir-fry prawn and bitter bean in hot sauce. The overall dish tastes rather spicy, has an irresistible sweet and sour flavor, a perfect dish that will make you enjoy another bowl of rice in no time! 😉

Cendol is okay, just opposite the Dutch Square.
Don't forget to bring your swim-wear, dip in the pool or take very instagrammable photos. Even if you don't know how to swim, can sit on the bench, relax, suntan and enjoy such a good view. So Shiok!
A blog about travels, foods and personal stuffs.
During beratur tu, korang dah boleh usha menu apa nak makan. Bayar lepas order kat depan tu jugak. Servis laju. Jangan risau eh? Kebetulan perut memang dok lapar ni. Here is my verdict, nasi ayam kepal ni rasanya biasa. By the way, ayam diperap lembut, and sup fish ball tu simple.
Overall semua not bad.Sedap pun sedap.Cuma umi tak rasa dia punya sup tu jelah.Kang order bebanyak tak habis pulak.
Kedai makannya senang nak cari, guna Waze aje.
Reasons to stay in Rosa Malacca: a pleasing design setting – Instagrammers will love this place; clean; instant hot, high-pressured shower; excellent bedding; fast free Internet; friendly staff.
Rosa is a designer lifestyle hotel. I found it by chance while googling for hotels in Malacca. Loyalty and familiarity had us checking into The Majestic Malacca whenever we returned. This time though, with the kids a lot older [and taking up more space], we decided to explore the possibility of other hotels in Malacca with bigger rooms.
In the end my stay in Rosa Malacca was really enjoyable and relaxing. Everything was very classy and very pleasing to the eye. I think what sets it apart from other places you can stay in in Melaka is the friendliness of the staff and the anti-cookie cutter concept that they have with their unique interior design. Although we only really spoke at length with May, the other staff that we came across were all very hospitable and friendly.
However I find that the quality of this shop, the taste had changed. I felt that year 2018 and before, it taste much better. The fragrant of peanut, spices and others are more prominent.
To our surprise, the Capitol satay sauce tastes gratifying and has a way thicker nutty blend compare to other satay celup which we tried before, not hard to understand why there are so many diners dying for their satay celup. Well too bad in our case, as it keeps gives us a chill in the spine on each bite worrying that we might get severe diarrhea on the next morning! 😉
As we ate, restaurant staff came over occasionally, to add more sauce or to stir the pot so that stuff didn’t stick to the bottom. The peanut sauce was fragrant, with a sweet and nutty flavour. I especially liked the bacon-wrapped enoki mushroom.
Beautiful place which serve nice food, and not crowded. Recommended.

Revel in the magnificent splendour of the culturally rich Melaka heritage city in Estadia Hotel, a uniquely Peranakan themed hotel.
We stayed in the Estadia Deluxe Suite which is tastefully appointed with modern amenities as well as Peranakan touches through its furnishings and furniture. At 62 sqm, the spacious suite comes with two bedrooms and a living area, which can comfortably accommodate our family of four. Each bedroom comes with an ensuite bathroom with shower and there are a total of 3 LED television in the suite (ie one in each room). There is also a mini kitchenette with coffee/tea making facilities. Guests can also enjoy complimentary high speed WiFi during their stay.
Ini sebabnya ramai pelancong beratur beli tiket menara tamingsari! Harga bukan soalnya. View sangat lawa, Meronta ronta hati tak mahu turun!
Menara Taming Sari, also known as Taming Sari Tower is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Melaka. A revolving gyro tower offering panoramic views of Malacca.
Next kami nak naik Menara Taming Sari pulak. Selalu dah nampak menara ni tapi dari jauh je. Dari official website mereka: Saksikanlah p...
The ruins of St. Paul’s Church is located at the summit of St. Paul’s Hill and was constructed by Portuguese fidalgo (nobleman) captain, Duarte Coelho, in gratitude to the Virgin Mary for saving his life during a storm at sea.
Interior of the roof-less church; smelt rich of history, i was intrigued by the many large stone plaques by the walls; they are tombstones previously scattered around the church and were affixed in the 1930s.
The St Paul’s Church, Malacca (Jalan Kota, 75000 Malacca, Malaysia) is located on the summit of St Paul’s Hill. Moving beyond the A’ Famosa Fortress remains, is a flight of stairs up the hill to the remains of the St Paul’s Church. Together with the A’ Famosa fortress and the Stadthuys, they form part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Malacca.
Nadeje is a cake shop in Melaka famous for its mille crepe. I’ve heard about Nadeje many years back. Can’t believe I’ve taken over 7 years to try this cake!!! What’s a mille crepe? It’s a French cake made from many layers of crepe. The word mille means thousand which suggest the cake has many crepe …
So there I was at the original spot where I was told the mille crepe craze began. Dropping by the Nedeje Cake Shop at Plaza Mahkota Malacca one fine afternoon, it was indeed a very cozy spot to have some cakes.

I was surprised that I actually love Melaka’s Jonker Street Night Market, which is likely the most touristy place in Melaka. Those who know my traveling style would know how much I loathe overly-touristy places. So, what made Jonker Street Night Market so special? It’s all about good food, reasonabl…
The coverage of their menu as well as the batik table cloth still feel familiar to me from the last visit. Groups of customers came strolling into the Restaurant after we settled down.
A humble-looking eatery. It is located among shop houses right by the main road. The chef here is super awesome. Dishes here are incredibly delicious.
Squids Fried with Stink Beans & Sambal - known as petai, the stink beans are an acquired taste which intensifies as you chew them further! Personally, i quite enjoyed the petai although the bigger highlight was the nicely cooked squid that's fried with the aromatic sambal chilli!
Melaka Maritime Museum consists of 3 parts: the replica of Flor de la Mar, The Royal Malaysian Navy Museum and Muzium Samudera Phase 2. Read review and details here.
One of the top places to go in Melaka, the Melaka Maritime Museum - Flor De La Mar, where you will learn more about the glorious days of Melaka.
The replica of the ship is about 34m high, 36m in length and 8m wide. It was quite interesting for the kids to walk around the ship, as well as climb up the upper deck to have a look around, especially since Daniel has been learning about Explorers in school last year. They offer audio guides in different languages to visitors (additional cost). A fine way to learn some history along the way!
Another delicious food in the menu that you “must try” in East & West Rendezvous are none other than their in-house Durian Mixed Cendol RM 5.50 served with shaved ice, gula Melaka syrup, durian, and red beans. We gotta admit, this cendol gives us a real good vibe right on our first try, it has a mouth-watering intense fragrant durian kick (similar like dodol durian) which goes superbly well with the local gula Melaka – sweet, mildly bitter and chilling throughout the whole dessert session, truly worth every single penny spent! 😉
-- East & West Rendezvous Cafe has the best nyonya chang in town . We ordered one nyonya chang to testing and bought more than ten pieces after that . The best nyonya chang that I’ve eaten . The glutinous rice is cooked to perfection and the spices is rich with flavorful .
Nonya Dumplings, another must try in Melaka. We were told East & West Rendezvous, just down the street from Chung Wah, was the place to go. They are all homemade, right in the shop. The blue c…
