I went for the latter; the snow crab was delicately sweet and tender, but there wasn't much of it to go around. The taste also got covered up by everything else in there, including all of the mabushi garnishes. I won't order it again, but at least it was healthy and reasonably priced.
But it was still refreshing enough for me to inhale those skinny noodles quickly.
Here's a recent addition to YAYOI's menu: steamed veggies and thin shabu shabu meat along with ponzu and goma dips. It tastes like it sounds: lean and satisfying (for me, at least), especially since it's sold at a bargain price of just S$13.90 (US$10.25), excluding the natto that I added to the plate.
