To me, the simplest style of Chee Cheong Fun is always the best. Not as a meal but as breakfast or a quick snack. So, this CCF from Hai Keng is rather different, probably due to the stickiness of the texture and the sourness of the pickled chillies.
I think the "传统猪肠粉 Traditional Chee Cheong Fun" should be good because after my "三间庄猪肉丸粉 Pork ball Noodle" came then only it opens at around 7:30am+; and soon it opens for business, customers already queening up to order. My lunch of Pork ball Noodle today average at best.
This Nyonya style Curry Noodle 酸酸辣辣 Spicy and Sour and 比较油腻 a bit oily, beautifully presented and I liked it here as well compared to its "HQ stall" at USJ 2.
The curry gravy was sweet-spicy-sourish, semi-thickness and not that bad.
My friend's takeaway economy rice with 2 meat and 3 vege dishes: 1. Braised pork belly and intestine 2. Sambal Petai 3. Deep Fried Nam Yu Pork Belly 4. Four angled beans stirfry 5. Mushroom and carrots stirfry It only costs MYR 6.50 nett. This is a good price.
But it was a totally different experience. The chee cheong fun itself just somehow got it right. There are places where you have it just a bit too blant, or too sticky, or too thick, too sweet, too something. This stall just gets it right. It was delicious, and it was worth it. If you’re a fan of chee cheong fun, this is a stall not to miss.
Lam Mee at MYR7 nett which we always order when we eat at this place.
Verdict: 1. At only RM2.50, I enjoy the most distinctive plain Chee Cheong Fun! 2. Personally, I think the brown sweet sauce is where the secret lies. Highly recommended to dip into the sweet sauce alone and you'll definitely not be disappointed. 3. Recommended? Yes, surely. Probably the best in PJ.
His Neptunian version came with a hefty piece of stingray, cuttlefish and clams. He pronounced the curry opulent and joyfully liberating... kinda like the sea!
