Another version of chaat that uses mini puri is Pani Puri, which is served in a set of six puri with a side of sauce. The dark sauce has a distinct tangy taste from tamarind and is highly palatable especially when it is spooned into the opening of the tiny puri and then the whole puri should be popped into the mouth. Once again, it is a feat to accomplish but I assure you that it promises very tasty results.

The Spice Kitchen is definitely a decent place to have your North or South Indian meal in Johor Bahru and another good thing about this place is that they are open till 11 pm daily. We tried a number of dishes, some were very good and some were just okay. Despite the mixed reviews, I would say that this place is worth visiting, especially for cross border travelers who are looking for a vegetarian meal when most places would have already closed for the day. Nevertheless, the ambiance is excellent and their prices are reasonable.

Anyway, this was our dinner for that evening... We were quite disappointed though... Waited for an hour and the two curries were just lukewarm... Well, perhaps we were too hungry that we over-expected...

I was invited to visit Indian Kitchen, a spanking new Indian restaurant opened at 1 Medini Hub in Johor Bahru. I love visiting Indian restaurants as I find the spices, colours, flavours, aromas, dishes, techniques and myriad regional variations deliciously fascinating. Indian Kitchen features both North and South Indian cuisine.

The food is great and the interior is nice. It has the exposed ceilings with duct work showing that my brother loves and overall is just a nice feel.

SK Fish Head Curry Rm 37.99 Served boiling hot in a claypot, the way I liked it. Meat was thick (photo) and fresh. It was a half-head and big but the meat was not a lot, good for 2 person at most. Gravy was another highlight, thick and full of aroma from the spices. You can choose the level of spiciness when ordering. There was very little amount of lady finger and brinjal added.

As a popular dish from North India, it is served in shape of lollipops and tastes sweet and tangy. The chicken is garnished with spring onions and carrot slice. Trying this dish as a starter is recommended.
