It’s amazing at how much care and effort Roots Desserts Bar puts into their food. The pictures on their menu, whether intentional or not, don’t make much of an impact so that when you actually receive your dessert, you’re wowed with its aesthetic. Mark came here alone when I wasn’t in the mood for dessert, then talked it up so much afterwards that we came here together the next night. With style and substance, Roots’ desserts are expertly presented while still being yummy.

Overall, Roots Dessert Bar is a great addition to the community. And with Hui May never ending passion for sweet treats, Penangites will sure to have plenty of dessert creations to look forward to. We for sure can’t wait to go back and try!

Roots Dessert Bar has been on a lot of dessert lover’s radars since its opening at The Museum Hotel in Georgetown, Penang. This outlet on Jalan A.S. Mansoor, off Transfer Road is Hui May and JT’s dessert corner, offering a variety of artisanal sweets and salties besides drinks.

New kid on the block- Roots Dessert Bar, joins the plenitude of dessert cafes in Penang but the newly opened dessert bar sure has something up its sleeves- the menu comprises of an array of uncommon desserts has certainly come to merit the title... as a 'dessert bar'. Do not expect to find some conventional cakes here but instead, artisan desserts and pastries that would please any stubborn diners. Taste is not the only thing that they are focusing on, the presentation counts. Inspired to serve plated desserts, Roots pays great attention to its food presentation. Combination and flavors are meticulously paired and thought through; though Roots offers light snacks (jaffles) too but the desserts are probably their core competencies. So go ahead and order their desserts first. Roots Dessert Bar is a few doors away from The Little Journeyman Cafe at The Museum Hotel, off Transfer Road.
