I'm not sure how long this has been on Sushiro's menu, but that torched soy sauce engawa behind the blackthroat seaperch in the foreground was good enough that I went back to order two more plates.
One of the things rotating through Sushiro's list of specials right now is this crab roe ramen.
Normally when I see a piece of sushi covered in mayonnaise, I'm the first one to jump onto a soapbox to shout "SACRILEGE!!" at the top of my lungs.
We got seated right away, and after a few things passed us by on the conveyor belt, these smoked bonito pieces caught my eye. Yes, there was a mild bit of smokiness in them, and that's without being overpowering. But it also wasn't anything to go out of one's way for either. It was just interesting to me, that's all.
