Well fried, crispy, unoily and tasty – the qq and unsticky nian gao and the fragrant durian were seriously good. Nothing not to like about fried fritters done so well.
Fried Durian and 3-in-1 chinese cake from Wah Cai 3-in-1 Chinese Cake 华仔炸年糕
The most famous foods in this shop is the 3 in 1 fried glutinous rice cake. 3 in 1 fried glutinous cake means there is a layer of sweet potato, glutinous rice cake, taro and a thin layer of frying batter.
Under Appetizers, there are Fried Lion’s Mane Mushrooms to savour with a side of tasty artisan Vegan Curry Mayo dip sauce. The texture of these ‘meaty’ deep-fried mushrooms are a hit with diners who enjoy breaking down the fiber with a good chew.
Overall, we rates this restaurant 4.5 out of 5.0 and would like to recommend this restaurant to all V family. Highly recommend worth to visit back.
For the vegetarian, someone who are looking for meat-free foods or even someone who are out to try new foods, this is definitely something you would not want to miss out. VBurg Boulangerie Café is located in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah! This special café, run by a group of food lovers who believed in se…
Chee cheong fun is easy to enjoy. I feel the Malaysian style is more fun to eat because there are more varieties of flavours, aromas and textures than the original rice rolls from HK and GZ.
I especially like the curry sauce. It is a mild curry - slightly sweet and just a little spicy. When tossed and mixed with the kway teow, it makes a delightful fresh and flavourful dish.
The wanton was just a small tender knob of sweet minced pork marinated with sesame oil wrapped in thin smooth wanton skin.
A few months ago we were driving around Taman Ungku Tun Aminah (Johor Bahru) looking for breakfast places and decided to settle in for some noodles at Restoran Uncle Koh. Coincidentally, Uncle Koh Wanton Mee has been operating in TUTA for many years and its one of the older shops there.
Uncle Koh Wanton Mee 許记云吞面 in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah is one of those hidden gem not in the spotlight that does everything very well. Just look at this bowl of Wanton noodles. Everything was nicely plated in the bowl. The noodles are on the right texture which is mixed and tossed in a savory sauce. T…
👉 I enjoyed the spicy ramen at Shen Ye Kitchen 深夜食堂. It's a very nice experience to have supper from a food truck. I would love to be back for the spicy ramen again and also try all their grilled dishes. Great place for supper 😄 Free parking is plentiful all around the food truck.
The 20 year old shop have since opened branches in Bukit Indah and Mount Austin, but only this parent shop in TUTA gives me the same taste and feeling of 2012.
This is one of those special days when i discovered a food gem. I felt like a prospector striking foodie's gold 😄
Congee from Johor Bahru’s Food Center
Enjoy an authentic foodie experience in a laid back hawker centre where people hang out to share stories (not a soul less eat-and-run once you are done place).
Unconscious excellence is the mark of true mastery.
Ah Yong makes the pork balls with fresh minced pork everyday at the shop.
I personally think that this dim sum place is quite decent. Portion maybe a little but good enough for me.
Say Yes Hong Kong Dim Sum 思源香港点心 serves tasty food in a nice and comfortable environment at reasonable prices. Good deal.
Based on our observation during few visits to Say Yes, it is normally crowded during public holidays and weekends. It was once that we needed to queue up for half an hour before we got seated.
Ah Hong Kopitiam has two branches in Johor Bahru which one is located in Taman Sutera Utama while another one is located in Taman Mount Austin. Today, we visit the branch that located in Taman Sutera Utama.
nasi lemak rice was ok fragrant but really nowhere by adam road selera rasa nasi lemak standard..
My family and I had a wonderful breakfast at Ah Hong Kopitiam. The place was earthly coffee coloured theme seemed like an oasis to baby boomers. We found that Ah Hong a very pleasant kopitiam for familiar comfort foods like tea, coffee, toast with kaya and egg , mee siam (noodles), nasi lemak and etc.
It seems a popular choice for weddings too and I'd say for banquet food, it is really decent. I'd love to be back to try the other dishes!
Pekin have roast suckling pig on the regular menu, so walk in customers can have this without pre-ordering.
Overall, this is a superb restaurant. For me, I will avoid the peking duck, as there are plenty of better examples of this art around (the Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck in Paragon is the grandmaster of the art). But the seafood is fresh, expertly cooked, and tastes superb...all for a price you cannot get in Singapore.
Restoran Chin Chin is raved selling one of the best Wanton Mee in Johor. From the outlook of the Restoran, it looked nothing significant that they are selling Wanton Mee as there are no signboard hanging in the old school place.
I love Chin Chin Wanton Mee for their house made duck egg noodles and old school wanton.
You will like the spicy version if you are spicy lover, it doesn't look red, yet really quite spicy without showing mercy and pack a wallop. But surprisingly, the chilies paste quite matching with the wanton mee, renders the noodles itself very flavourful, I can simply eat only the noodles without char siew on top.
Restoran Tong's Hainanese Eight Treasures Claypot 海南八寶菜 is a humble dish but it is delicious and we enjoyed it very much.
The steamed pomfret (RM$70) is small but, at that price, one can’t complain. They uses sea fish and not river fish. It is done well, with the meaty fish, so very fresh, perfectly in a tasty, savoury soup. It comes with slices of ginger, tomatoes, fried shallots and tofu. The soup was slightly too salty for my liking, it would work if you order a bowl of rice. But I enjoyed every single slice of the fish meat, it is going on the must-order list.
Hainanese Eight treasures A brand new beginning to 2012, Top on my eating list, Restoran Tong. But not for its Bak ku teh, but rather...
We were looking for a dessert place before heading back to Singapore and found Tian Yuan Dessert Hut within the vicinity. While the weather is so hot, we were looking for an airconditioned seating despite that they do have an outdoor table.
The custard bun was seriously molten, and the custard sponge cake really soft and spongy. The rest of the dim sum was quite serviceable too. Quite a good crowd here too.
Having tried Skudai Duck Mee, I find that the taste was clean and decent. Although their competitor looks more commercialised and furnished, I'm still having the thought of going there for a try so that I can do a comparison.
It was a scrumptious meal indeed and Owner Mr Quek is very friendly. If you are a fan of braised duck, this place is highly recommended.
👉 JB folks love their chicken chops, more so I think than many other towns. Whether you like the mild gentle flavours or not, Hwa Mui's old school chicken chop is among the pioneers that shaped Johorean's taste for chicken chops for three generations.
