Overall, we enjoyed the two ramen bowls here and would return again to try their other offerings.
We had the Shiro (ori) and Koro (squid ink) – the tonkotsu broth – supposedly boiled for 36 hours or more – for both were hearty, full-bodied and packed with flavour and depth – definitely not for the faint-hearted. For RM31.20 you get 2 sizable slabs of chashu, an egg, fungus, seaweed and spring onion – in other words, the works, including a cup of oolong tea. It’s RM39 for Tsukemen which has chewier, denser noodles.
This is undeniably a great bowl of ramen. You don’t get ginormous queues like Kanbe does if the food isn’t extraordinary. Every bowl is crafted by the person ordering it. The other ramen shops I’ve been to only allow you to choose what type of flavoured oil you want, and most times there are only about four options! Kanbe, however, allows for all sorts of adjustments, many of which do not require an extra surcharge. I love the additional freebies, like the bottomless veggies and tea. The tea is a small touch but makes a difference. Drinking plain water with ramen just doesn’t taste as good.
Overall, the hotpot is simply worth every penny and they are really good and delicious. If you are looking for a hotpot buffet, Fei Fan Hotpot is definitely to brings you a delicious hotpot with wide variety of meat and choices !
Hong Kong FeiFan Hotpot Buffet offer quite a good value meal that a hotpot buffet starts from RM 35.90+ for lunch and RM 45.90+ for dinner
这里的招牌是他们家的手工肉丸 ~ 有牛肉 , 猪肉 , 和鸡肉 ~ 手打的肉丸特别有嚼劲 , 口感很扎实 ~
If Crust could just be a little more generous with the toppings, their pizzas would be perfect. I still prefer the pizzas at Crust over the ones at nearby Porto Romano or even Eataly because I am so fucking sick of ultra-thin cracker crusts that I’m willing to sacrifice the rest of the pie for a great crust. As for the burger, I can honestly say that Crust has the best beef burger in Mont Kiara at this time, but it’s barely a competition considering the lack of other options in the area. This makes Crust our new place to fill our pizza and burger cravings when we can’t be arsed to go to Desa Sri Hartamas where there are better, cheaper options. Crust is certainly pricey, so this will not be a restaurant that we visit regularly.

Reasons to visit Crust KL: a lovely setting with indoor and outdoor spaces, excellent gluten-free and vegan options; we really like the texture of their pizza crust; I loved the Figaro pizza, Rich thought the best-selling status of the Cheeseburger well-deserved, and we’d all order the Middle Eastern Platter again.
Paradise Dynasty is not meant for a regular person like me. It’s meant for people with fat wallets for whom spending RM20 on water, napkins and food they didn’t really want is no big deal. Paradise Dynasty is just too damn expensive, and my overall experience was not a positive one.
It was an amazing experience, all the foods were really great!
Lettuce Roll with Homemade Sesame Sauce, This is surprisingly good and crunchy lettuce roll goes well with the homemade sesame sauce.
The Nguyen’s Pork Chop Noodles is really good. The egg noodles are beautifully topped with the fried minced pork, topped with the crispy pork lard and spring onions . Yummz !
So next time when you are craving for some tantalizing Vietnamese dishes, you know where to head to.
Lemongrass Pork (MYR 16) Generous serving of pork slices stir-fried in lemongrass, turmeric and Vietnamese fish sauce, and topped off with a sunny side-up atop a bed of warm fragrant rice. Another enjoyable fuss-free grub!
♥Verdict: QingHeGu didn’t quite live up to my expectation because I’ve read quite many good reviews about this place. Food was pretty average and the variety of Banchan was merely satisfying as well. Revisit? Probably not.
We ordered the Galbi or pork rib (RM40 for 280g). The rib is imported from Spain and is marinated for 24 hours in their special sauce. This is lovely – the meat was soft, tender and flavourful. The marinade is sweet-savoury and tasted sorta like low-key char siew. It caramelises particularly well on the charcoal fire.
Lisette’s is an easy choice. This place always has tonnes of people eating here, yet we’ve never had to wait for a seat. The restaurant is beautiful, and the extensive menu means there’s always something new to try. The beef pie alone is worth coming back to Lisette’s again and again. It’s also a great place for just coffee and a snack with its selection of delicious-looking pastries. It isn’t cheap, of course, so Lisette’s Cafe & Bakery will only be an occasional treat for us.
Food is good, service is nice and plenty of pastries.
If you love tonkatsu and are willing to spend a bit more, Tonkatsu by Ma Maison does have great pork and you can eat your money’s worth with all the free refills on the side dishes. The pork tonkatsu at other Japanese restaurants in the area, such as Daruma Syokudo, are not at the same level of quality. Personally, though, I’ve realised that I just don’t crave tonkatsu ever, so Tonkatsu by Ma Maison is too pricey for a dish I’m indifferent over.
Overall, we really enjoyed the fried chicken here. We recommend the Bburinkle and Red King as the flavours were on point, and the chicken was really tender and juicy.
I don’t know what Cafe Deli by El Meson is trying to be. They have super casual pork noodles on their menu right next to RM450 steaks, but this place is way too trashy to justify that steak price. Nobody is going to order a steak that expensive in a mall restaurant where you’re sitting on plebeian rattan furniture next to an escalator. A couple of weeks after our visit, I brought up this place to Mark and he had completely forgotten that we had eaten here. The food was okay in the moment, but obviously unmemorable. We don’t intend to ever return to this scammy, self-important restaurant.
Verdict: They need to incorporate more Mamee noodles in their offerings, to be honest. That’s just my humble opinion. Food is good, not great – I think this is a one-time visit for me.
Eatery by Nutmeg’s menu is filled with our favourite kinds of foods that aren’t easily replicated at home – waffles, gumbo, benedicts – and at incredibly reasonable prices. We splurged today by getting some of the most expensive drinks, and it was still cheaper than most of the restaurants in the area. I’m not sure if anyone else is as keen on Creole food as we are, but we will definitely become regulars here.
Mont Kiara is a bit out of the way from central KL, and I wouldn’t recommend travelling out there for this. However, if you’re nearby and have exhausted your usual places, it might be worth your while.
Hot Chocolate (MYR 12) Smooth and rich cup of Korte 60% cacao content from West Java Sipping some good cuppa while accompanied by a calming landscape front view- bliss!
[Pork-free] Don’t be a rookie, have a Brookie. Brookie (brownie + cookie) is soft and chewy, with gooey choc chips inside.
Hence, if you are looking for a spot for a leisure hangout with family and friends over scrumptious cuisine, do check out Breadfruits for a cozy environment and I personally enjoyed their wild honey drink series besides the luscious porky affair and the addictive Moroccan Chicken Popcorn too! Try it out soon guys (=
SATO San Smoked Chashu Donbori (MYR 22) Smoked chashu served with homemade teriyaki sauce and onsen egg and spring onion The whole combo comes very nicely presented, most importantly is yummy! Just love the very well marinated smoked chashu with generous amount of toppings, highly recommended!
As the main star of the day, BreadFruit's house special, Smoked Chicken dish is simply amazing. Tenderly prepared with care as the meaty chicken is lighted seasoned with spices and herbs before being smoked to perfection.
Ooohh..la..la... the meat was tender and juicy, even better than the one we had on our very first visit. The tomato sauce which is similar to the one served with the Patatas Bravas enhanced the riblicious experience. We regretted not going with our gut feeling of getting a full rack. Next time!
To be honest, I was not hungry at full capacity (surprise, surprise) and I myself may have been underwhelmed by the experience. But still, my brother and I ate with gusto as we always do.
Verdict: It was an enjoyable Spanish lunch, a very unexpected one indeed. The food definitely good enough to induce repeat visits.
I was completely surprised by the food at Burnin’ Pit. Our sandwiches were huge and loaded with ingredients. Both of us were absolutely stuffed before finishing our meals, and I wasn’t hungry for the rest of the day. I thought this would be a very generic restaurant that wouldn’t put any effort into the food – that they were simply coasting on their status as a barbecue restaurant, which is why I didn’t want to waste over RM200 for a platter only to be disappointed. However, I was very impressed. The food at Burnin’ Pit was so good that I will gladly come back and try their expensive barbecue platters.
The Peri Peri Chicken. It was so moist, so smoky flavorful and was great eaten with the pickled gherkins and green chilies. My brother was even talking about coming back and then ordering 1/4 chicken each. It was that good.
Salted Egg POBOY RM19 – crispy, deep fried to golden brown squid flash-fried with salted egg, Chilli padi and Indian Curry Leaves; generously sandwiched between baguette. Sided with fries. An order that both kids and adult will approve.
Good service, but small portion and average taste given the price point.
Although the staff’s attitude could use a tune-up and the prices are obnoxious, I begrudgingly have to admit that the food here is quite tasty. It’s what keeps this place decently busy, even at midday on a Monday with no lunch sets offered. This meal cost us over RM50 and we didn’t even get any drinks, and Mark wasn’t all that hungry and tried to get something small. If you’re a regular person who cares how much money flies out of your bank account, Ra-Ft should be reserved for an occasion and not just a whatever work lunch. And definitely make sure you are hungry, so that you’re not paying RM20 for a salad.
The Botanist RM25 – a vegetarian dish that caught Summergirl’s attention the most, as not many cafes have vegetable-loaded brunch dish like this other than salad. Gluten free bread with mashed peas spread, further layered up with broccoli, zucchini, kale and pea sprouts! Not to forget, a poached egg hidden within.
Dakgalbi at Jin Jin Soo Ra, Mont Kiara #malaysiafoodie #koreanfood
Delicious Korean food, no complain.
Here’s a hidden gem in Plaza Mont Kiara. After boxing class on Friday night, we met up with some friends at JinJin Soora 진진수라. Operated by a Korean family, they offer Korean BBQ but what really stood out were the set meals.
食物方面没什么惊喜,如果以宠物咖啡馆来说,我还是比较喜欢 Bow Wow Cafe 的食物。
Pet welcome, people tolerated. Please don't ignore this sentence when you step into a pets FRIENDLY restaurant
The place is super clean and have no unpleasant odor despite 3 fur kids are in house.
Verdict: The Fat Fish certainly is one of the better restaurants that I’ve eaten lately. It’s a good option if you’re looking for seafood meal in this area.
Salted Egg Pasta (RM32) 💟👍👍👍👍 It has the smoked duck breast, ao nori ko powder in creamy salted egg sauce & parmesan cheese. I fall in love with the salted egg pasta in the thick of creamy cheese! It shocked everyone to feel a spicy chili from this dish! It is not boring because the spicy chilies go well with salted egg sauce! So we enjoyed it very much. I must be recommended the Salted Egg paste to pasta lovers!
Conclusion: better spend your money at a proper Japanese restaurant if your aim is to have sashimi. Off the top of my head, both Ichiro Sushi Bar and Yuzen are able to provide better value, quality and service.
