This is yet the best White Curry Noodle I have had in Penang, noodle was perfectly cooked with tasty soup "white color" (optional addition of extra chili), the bowl comes with Sotong slices, Fresh cockels as well as QQ Duck blood (instead of Pork blood). Another dish, the 白斩鸡 Deboned Boiled Chicken with Soy Sauce is definitely a must try, one of the best 滑鸡 I have ever tried.
Hola! The transformation is done and there comes a reddish colour of curry mee. It emits a strong essence of curry taste and a pleasant aroma, with the spiciness level can be adjusted depending on the amount of chilli paste you have added. Beware though as too much of the chilli paste may cause choking as it is real spciy! That is why they named it Hot Bowl!
我个人觉得这道菜很特别炸鱼皮炒苦瓜很特别的配搭很喜欢那脆脆的鱼皮配合苦瓜一起吃就会让不喜欢吃苦瓜的人觉得不那么苦了
Said to be one of the first few establishments in Penang that offers Fish Head Bee Hoon a couple decades back, Wong Chau Jun is a big name for Penangites whom are old enough to hear of the name. It is one of the popular weekend brunch places for those families with deep pockets. The simple and straight-forward menu suits diners from all age groups, making it a family-friendly dining place in Georgetown. Wong Chau Jun is famed for its variants of Fish-related noodles- steamed Fish with Hor Fun, Spicy-Sour Fish Head Bee Hoon are some of the popular choices. While the prices are of acceptable range, we did not think their food was mind-blowing....
Standing outside the premise, you will find a dark big glass door which I think it's like a door that awaits you to enter for a surprise. As you walk in, customers are greeted to a nice yet cozy dining ambiance. Simple yet it makes dining with pleasure.
We were greeted warmly by the staffs and the owner of the place and as we were led inside the restaurant, we were amazed by how well-groomed the interior are. EU Cuisine is in one of the heritage houses and the ceiling is so high that you could see the sky and also enjoy the feel of being inside one of the pre-war houses back in the 60s or 70s.
Lamb Shank (Rm 35.90) in its unadulterated best, EU Cuisine dishes out their Lamb Shank in a whole instead of tearing them down into bite-sized pieces. The well-braised beauty was served on a bed of Mashed Potato and drenched in Chef's home-made Raisin-sauce. EU Cuisine's rendition of Lamb Shank is slightly more unique than its contenders. The meat was fall-apart tender and well-seasoned with flavors. The Raisin-sauce has an indelible sweetness but it dovetailed perfectly with the meat. The Mashed, on the other hand, was well-executed as well. Carrots were added to the Mashed Potato, to impart a vegetable-sweetness to the carbs. The Lamb Shank comes in a hearty portion, which makes it a value-for-money order.
Here's the location.
One of their best sellers is Assam Laksa... which ticked most of the boxes right. The sourness was apparent and the unique Assam flavor was bold, the heat was there too (presumably from the Bird's Eye chilies)... though we did not get the sweet seafood aftertaste in this
Chiak Bar offers a range of scrumptious bento sets, designed to satisfy your cravings without breaking the bank. One standout option is the Bento Set, which includes a choice between succulent fish or tender chicken, accompanied by a generous portion of fresh vegetables, a perfectly sunny side-up egg, and fragrant rice. And the best part? This delectable meal is priced at an affordable RM9.90, making it a fantastic value for money.
One of the signature dishes by Tree Ring Cafe is its Pulled Pork series. The Cauliflower rice is designed for those who are on KETO diet... the Cauliflower was first steamed and mashed to small pieces and served with Pulled Pork. The meat was fork-tender and it felt like being braised for quite some time, the dish somehow reminded us of the Bangkok Pork Leg rice (without the presence of Chili sauce).
With a name like Viva La Pasta, one would expect to see a heavy Italian fare in this newly opened restaurant. It is housed within the new budget hotel- iStay Hotel in the heart of Georgetown. Step in the cafe and you will be pleasantly amazed by how cozy the place is. While every effort was made to ensure the place lives up to the classy Italian theme but we did not think the Italian element was strong enough. In fact, we spotted a wallpaper with Chinese characters. On the menu, it offers quite a wide variety of Italian fare, ranging from Antipasto, Pizza, Pasta, Grills and even classic Italian desserts. Very wallet-friendly price points but as far as authenticity is concerned, we thought the flavors have been localized to suit the local audience.
If you want a local Penang version of loh mee, you can visit Kim Leng Loh Mee at Restoran Joo Huat at Perak Road Penang.
1119 Curry Mee Stall at Joo Huat Cafe is one of the curry mee selling in Penang that served non-santan (no coconut milk) at their base. The taste of the curry mee is as good as those that have included santan and it is packed with nostalgic and classic flavor. The blood cockles are fresh and juicy, while the soup is thick and aromatic, and the chili paste is packed with pungent. Overall the curry mee is worth the taste
The pancake taste good, the outer layer of the pancake is crunchy and the ingredient inside it is good too, though simple but I like it.
Tasty savoury fragrant KL style wanton noodles with tasty plump wantons.
Polo Bun with Butter (菠萝油) – RM4.50, a very typical Hong Kong pastry. The top of the bun was covered with slightly sweet crust while the inner of the bun was stuffed with a piece of creamy butter. In Penang, it is so difficult to get Polo Butter Bun. That is the reason I came to this cafe to try out the bun. It is in fact one of their best-sellers and usually sold out by noon. The top crust was so nice and the bun was soft and warm. Having it with soft and creamy butter was simply satisfying. This bun is perfect when it is served warm.
For the menu, although I thought that the price is wallet-friendly but the choices are limited.
Besides the Teochew-style noodle, you can go all the way through to the Steamed Hor Fun with Groupa Fish Fillet and Roasted Pork with Crispy Noodle.
L Kitchen is a place where it’s suitable for all ages.
Overall, the food here was nice and some of the dishes were unique. However, certain dishes had a sweet ending
Looking for a place to chill while having a good meal? Kraffmen Cafe is definitely the place to be.
St. Ali在墨尔本是一家相当有名气的咖啡馆,超高辨识度和知名度,这道菜式正是以这家咖啡馆名字命名
It’s amazing at how much care and effort Roots Desserts Bar puts into their food. The pictures on their menu, whether intentional or not, don’t make much of an impact so that when you actually receive your dessert, you’re wowed with its aesthetic. Mark came here alone when I wasn’t in the mood for dessert, then talked it up so much afterwards that we came here together the next night. With style and substance, Roots’ desserts are expertly presented while still being yummy.
This is the Christmas Special - about MYR 18.
Initially hesitant about trying Siam Road Charcoal Char Kuey Teow due to trying a different CKT place, I eventually decided to give it a try. However, the experience wasn't the most pleasant due to the non-air-conditioned setting and an extensive queue. The uncle cooking the CKT prepared each plate individually, leading to a considerable wait.
Siam Road CKT remains close to the hearts of many.
Its good and ddfinitely Penang.
Along with a nice cosy ambiance to go with it. If you have not tried their desserts before, you should :)
Creamy tong-sui is showcased in the bubur cha cha, green bean sago, and the black glutinous rice, with the former cooked in coconut milk and the latter complemented by a topping of thick coconut milk.
New World City Food Court is located right in the heart of Georgetown. For me, point me to Penang Char Kway Teow and I will go for it! The version here is with Duck Egg and perfect. Wok Hei, not to…
Overall, most of the food here in New World Park Food City are great and delicious.
Khoon Pastry House is one of the renowned names for pastries and cakes back in the 70's and 80's. In recent years, Khoon Pastry has evolved and has now added Hainanese delicacies to their menu.
Chicken Shepherd's Pie (RM 19.90) is another delicious item here. The classic dish is presented in a beautiful way with wavy appearance, then the mashed potatoes are silky smooth and complemented well with other ingredients. The taste is nice and lightly with a touch of creaminess. Although the shepherd's pie looks like a dessert or a side dish but a piece of it should fulfill your calories load of the day.
这一餐的总结是,每一道餐点我都感到非常的满意! 尤其是Shepherd Pie,更是令人回味无穷,回去后还会念念不忘 所以Khoon Pastry House绝对是一家会让人再次回访的海南特色餐厅喔!
Hameediyah Restaurant is famous for its signature curries, kurmas, Kapitan, murtabak, nasi biryani, rendang, mee goreng, and other dishes. The recent Sotong Viral (The Viral Squid) is also one of the factors that make diners dashing from around the globe to this restaurant. With all the nice and delicious recipes intact with nice service and cozy ambiance. Hameediyah Restaurant is one of the Nasi Kandar places to visit in Penang.
The Beef Rendang is a particular winner... with rich and in-depth flavors
A specialty not to be missed is Murtabak (flat bread). Made at the show kitchen at the entrance of the restaurant, the murtabak comes stuffed with a choice of minced chicken, beef, mutton or vegetable fillings. Served with a simple helping of pickled onions, the pan-fried murtabak is simply delectable when paired with a bit of curry chicken and nutty dalcha – a lentil curry infused with herbs and spices.
