I had one with dragonfruit and loved how it was refreshing and pleasant to drink without being tooth-achingly sweet.

It will be a huge loss if you did not give a try on their Cempedak Crumble during your visit. It is made of real cempedak (jackfruit) evident by the fibrous texture in the cake, and the flavour of the jackfruit is amazing. The cake just strikes the balance of the sweetness point. Crumbles topping and base provide some crunch texture that aided in the enjoyment.

Chicken Shepherd's Pie (RM 19.90) is another delicious item here. The classic dish is presented in a beautiful way with wavy appearance, then the mashed potatoes are silky smooth and complemented well with other ingredients. The taste is nice and lightly with a touch of creaminess. Although the shepherd's pie looks like a dessert or a side dish but a piece of it should fulfill your calories load of the day.

Big Platter (Rm 32). When we first head of Big Platter, we were expecting a big portion but it was otherwise in reality. More like Tapas styled Sourdough served in 4 different toppings- Scrambled Egg, Hummus, caramelized Onions and sauteed Mushrooms. Every single one of them was unique in their own way but all of them were nicely done. The Sourdough was carefully toasted to shattering crisp while the toppings were meticulously cooked. Good for sharing and as light snacks in lieu of a proper meal.

Well, we choose Kim Haus Spaghetti Aglio Olio Chicken (RM 22.90) and it did not disappoint. Spaghetti noodles were cooked to al-dente and was seasoned nicely with a hint of spiciness, then garnished with olives. We were surprised to see generous quantity of big chicken cutlets were served. It was great but the entire presentation or experience would have been better if the chickens were cut into smaller slices. Overall it was a great spaghetti.

The Baking Garage (at Lembah Permai) is not new, in fact, we have been wondering if they would move their business operations nearer to central Georgetown... and we are glad they did! Not only running as a bakery, the new branch at New World Park (known as Sin Seh Kai Artisan Bakery) actually offers a seemingly impressive brunch menu. The kitchen closes at 2:30 pm and by then, only light snacks shall be served (no heavy menu), so plan your time accordingly. It's easy to find Sin Seh Kai, the place is covered in transparent glasses with an open-kitchen, while the other side of the cafe is dedicated for diners dining-in the cafe. The setup is simple and straight-forward but the real pull factor is the wide range of home-made Pastries and artisan bread.

Well, we were intrigued by the Bubble Milk Tea Cheesecake (RM 22). It is expensive but the odd combination of pearls and cheesecake worked well miraculously. The cheesecake was spot on for us - semi rich and dense in texture, though some who used to a strong cheese taste with excessive creaminess would be lamenting after having it.

Of the different kind of breads, we had a Smoked Duck Croque (RM 28) and it was impressive. We enjoyed the Croque that was served warm with fluffy texture, and the classic grilled Emmental cheese and bechamel sauce sandwiched between the croque that gives it a semi-rich sensation. Overall the pastry makes an excellent choice as a to start the day, or even a snack in between the meal. Absolutely love it.

"Les Grains" sure sounds like French but don't be fooled by the name, this newly opened oriental-fusion bakery specializes in baking Japanese-influenced bread and pastries. Bread lovers should not be new to the name- "Four Season" Bakery (previously at Straits Quay)... Les Grains is the rebranded version. All classic items from Four Season Bakery can now be found at Les Grains, everything seems unchanged except... the price tags, expect at least 20-40% hike in prices and for that very simple reason, this could be the most expensive bakery in Penang. Visitors may purchase the on-the-rack products or dine-in, there's a small Lunch menu available daily... featuring dishes like Salad, Sandwiches and Soup. Though dining here could put a dent on the wallet, Les Grains does not skimp on ingredients, the quality is still as superior as before.
