On the whole, I had a pleasant meal here – the food was good and the cafe had a nice quirky charm.
I didn't realize until we got here that the name of this place is a function of it being an antique store in addition to a cafe (19 Lorong Kilat #01-06, 6463-3648).
The baked goods were good, including the cornbread underneath their Eggs Benedict as well as the flaky croissant-like things underneath those crab cakes above.
Really nice pastries, innovative, buttery and done to just the right texture.

The robusta black kopi was potent and punchy, yet somewhat light, floral and refined. The sor hei, eaten as a takeaway and without heating up, was quite normal and even a bit stodgy, although you could still taste the softness inside and crispy layers outside.
Food at Tai Cheong Bakery is classic Hong Kong tea house cuisine, focusing on snack, desserts, and light bites.
The photo looked pretty good, but it wasn't the savory thing that I was expecting. Instead, it was mildly sweet, and with bits of cartilage in there too. I didn't bother to finish it, but at least the tea was potent.
Not only was this sandwich such a delight to eat, but it was also filling; we can totally imagine coming back here just for it!
Now we know where we can get the same good quality bread and delicious pastries from Fine Dining Bakery by Akira .M, without having to pay the sky high price of a meal in a Michelin starred fine dining restaurant.
It is little wonder how Fine Dining Bakery by Akira M. had already become a pretty popular hidden gem within the Robertson Quay/River Valley neighbourhood, with so many regulars that had been coming back for more.
This is one cafe in the West we wouldn’t mind another trip to.
Ambience at Baker & Cook is comfortable and homely, designed to make you linger on.
While the space may seem small, it is cozy enough with pop culture artworks around to add some character.

I love shops that have the create a pasta/baked rice option. You can have different combinations and it is so much fun!

This was hands down, the best way to end my meal. The lovely service from the staff made my experience here enjoyable too!
After everything that’s been said and done, and being avid fans of Lana Cake Shop’s iconic Chocolate Fudge Cake, all we can do is to hope that Mrs Kwan’s legacy is carried forward properly and not turned into another commercialised product.
So so cafe, with so so latte. Probably because I didn’t try their specialty- the gelato. So don’t take my word for it.
A good thing about Pasar Bella is that although it is quite huge, it is still easy to navigate around. A possible downside was that I didn’t really get the feeling of being in a bustling European market.
One of the latest additions to The Providore's menu is the monstrous Grass-fed Beef Burger. I must particularly direct your attention to the wonderful serving of fries — the result of several days of freezing, light frying, re-freezing and further deep-frying. This makes the texture so crisp and the colour so brilliantly golden. Definitely one of the best chips out there!
