Here's the location.
The signature dish here, As You Like Signature Chicken Pot, is absolutely commendable.
Notable choices include the Kurobuta Pork Belly and Chives Dumplings; both were equally delicious in its own way. Though this is not something that we can eat on a regular basis, the superior quality of the ingredients stands out... not too bad for a change provided you have a little budget to spare
The High Tea Set Menu offered by Averie House is actually a partnership between the cafe and Gen, the fine dining restaurant in Lebuh Presgrave. Bearing a premium price tag at RM 130 per set, the high tea set revolves around peculiar items that you least expect will appear in 3-tier high tea set, yet the taste was miraculously appeasing. Ditch your thought of having fruit tarts, chocolate macaron, dainty desserts or sandwiches, and expect a playful tickle to your taste buds using local flavour infused desserts such as Durian puff, Cempedak macaron, Nutmeg mouse cake and etc.
Overall, the experience at Mr Dakgalbi was not up and the taste was monotonous for indulgence. Please note that above experience only apply at Mr Dakgalbi at Gurney Plaza and not representative of the food at other Mr Dakgalbi outlets.
Dakgalbi, a type of Korean stir-fry dish with Gochujang sauce, has been well-received by Malaysians. One of the biggest players- Mr. Dakgalbi has recently opened a new branch at Gurney Plaza. With its success in central Malaysia, the spread of news on the brand expanding its business operations to Penang was quick; many ardent fans of Korean Dakgalbi were seen queuing patiently over the weekend, just to have their cravings fixed. The franchised restaurant has a small menu dedicated for Dakgalbi but their unique selling point is none other than their alluring Cheese Ring where diners get to enjoy the stir-fried Chicken with pulls of gooey, stretchy melted Cheese.
We personally recommend the Chicken slices... marinated in their own marination sauce- sweet, peppery and definitely unique in its own way. We also enjoyed how clear and clean the hotpot broth was.... well-seasoned with a bold vege sweetness
其实我们是被友人的部落格吸引过来的,因为那天看到他们家的 RM78 无菜单料理的 review看起来不错,所以就立刻预定了位置。
On mains, we seemed to enjoy the signature Pork Collar more than Roast Chicken... the former dish tasted a little Char Siew, except that it was the melt-in-the-mouth tender. The meat was sous-vided before grilling, so you can sort of relate that soft-tender texture.
The signature Chicken Mushroom Pie (RM 14) was special. It uniquely features a puff pastry topping warm chicken mushroom soup. We find it is better to dip the puff pastry to the soup, allowing the warm soup to coat the thin puff pastry and yield a nice sensation. It would have been great if the soup was less salty.
Naughty Nuri’s
Babi Guling *Didn't like this at all. The foul odour of Androstenone was too strong. :( This was FOS (Fatty, Oily and Smelly)
Normally I’m not a fan of pork chops as the ones I’ve had previously have all turned out too dry for my liking. Surprisingly, Naughty Nuri’s Grilled Pork Chops begged to differ. The juicy cut of meat (sourced very carefully with just the right amount of fat vs lean meat) was lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled to perfection. The meat was succulent and even better when eaten together with that layer of melt-in-your mouth fat.
A poultry choice is the Smoked BBQ Chicken, served with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, buns, and cornbread. The chicken drumstick is delightfully succulent with tender soft meat.
Barbecue Lamb Shoulder, very generous portion of lamb served to our table, well cook lamb shoulder top with the sweet sauce and pineapple. The lamb is tender and not chewy, great amount of sauce apply make it taste very good.
One thing good here is that you don't have to do any grilling or preparing jobs, all you need to do is just sit down and relax, read the menu and order your food, relax again while waiting for your food to arrive at your table, and enjoy your food when it arrives!
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from barbequed vegetables, but what we got served at Beep Beep Q definitely impressed me. The crispy yam was delicious, sliced thinly and glazed with a sweet honey and savoury sauce and sprinkled with herbs. While the mushrooms had a lovely earthy flavour. While the brocolli and zucchinis were grilled just right to still have some bite to them. I honestly can’t remember the last time I enjoyed vegetables this much! 😛 The grilled veggies hinted at more delicious-ness to come and I could hardly wait!
Morganfield's dining area places emphasis on wood and brick elements to present a rustic appearance.
Ardent fans of barbecue meat need not travel far from town to get some good variety of smoky goodies. Morganfield's was made famous from its much beloved classic rib but have now expanded to offer many wonderful Western options. Diners whom prefer a more outdoorsy ambiance would be glad to know that Morganfield's at Gurney Paragon Mall offers a spectacular view- wooden, small communal tables overlooking the fountain right in front of the mall and if you are lucky, you might catch the performances offered by the mall in central square. Whether day time of evening, the place is one of the perfect spots to wind down or to catch up over a pint of chilled Beer.
We sampled a few of Korean signature dish such as Samgyetang Ginseng Stew (RM 38). The iconic Korean summer dish Ginseng Stew though may not suitable for the scorching hot weather in Malaysia but the taste outweigh the factor. Chicken is stuffed with glutinous rice, the broth is rich and tasty, and the ginseng flavoured chicken is tender and delicious. We could practically eat and chew the bone as it has been boiled for hours prior serving to us. Overall, this dish is a reflection on the sincerity of the restaurant put into their dish preparation.
If you are old enough to have heard of the name- Bee Won Korean Restaurant, you probably have an idea on the restaurant's background. With the ever-growing popularity on Korean food, the restaurant has recently opened up a new Korean BBQ place at New World Park. The setting is pretty much Korean roadside barbecue setting, with stainless steel tables and grills. The heat-intolerant would be less-excited to know that the place is not air-conditioned but if you are game for an al-fresco barbecue dining experience, this is the type of setting that you are looking for. Apart from the quintessential Korean barbecue items and alcohols (like Soju), the place offers a wide variety of Korean delights. It opens for lunch as well so if you are in the mood for a casual Korean fix, you can drop by for a quick meal. The prices are pretty much Korean-restaurant standard but the quality remains consistent (you would know if were a Bee Won customer).
Unagi with rice – RM10. This can be one of the most reasonably-priced Unagi Don in Penang. The portion enough is just right for this price. The taste of the sauce blended with the unagi very well. This dish is a highly recommended dish here..
Indulge in Penang's freshest and most reasonable prawns at HH Grill Bar located on Siam Road. As a prawn distributor turned restaurateur, the owner's commitment to freshness shines through in every dish. In this video, join me as I explore their signature Claypot Porridge Base Hot Pot.
If spending an evening on bar hopping is one of your favorite activities to do on the weekends, this newly operated, unassuming Japanese Izakaya-inspired BBQ Grill House should take a spot on your to visit list. There are plenty of delights churned out from the grills, there are also some local dishes... the fare is mostly Asian. The alcohol menu is not extensive but a few selections of Beers and canned drinks. The setting is down to earth and laid back- with wooden pallets as tables while the irregular bricks as background, adorned by Chinese lanterns hanging across the ceiling. It does not feel like a very cozy bar but it can be a decent space to have a casual dinner/ supper.
We had the Chicken Katsu Pillow Rice for RM 13.90 - with fluffy egg, delicious curry and two chicken balls that has cheese filling. Seating might be a challenge as they only have 6 seats along the bars but you can always take away. What a real bargain and discovery here!
I remain confused as to why Andrew’s Kampung is so wildly popular among tourists while many other similar restaurants don’t get half the attention. The prices are very fair for what you get, but the food didn’t blow my mind and the ambience is mediocre. I think this is a cut and dried case of TripAdvisor sheeping. However, this place does have the one thing that other restaurants do not, which is Andrew himself, who seems like a naturally friendly guy. I am not disappointed by my visit here, but I do not think I would come back. The hour-long wait for a table and food (even at 9pm – far too late for the dinner rush, isn’t it?) are not worth it to me.
We also had the Sizzling Beef (RM17.90) served on a hotplate. The beef was tender and flavorful... so good!
The side dish here consist of different types of vegetables. As most of it are my favorite i often finish all the side dish even though i have ordered a lot of main dish to eat, haha !
Miga Korean BBQ Restaurant is a new Korean restaurant near Bay Avenue, Queensbay Mall that places real emphasis on Korean traditional and classic delights. Not only does the place has the standard Korean restaurant setting, the menu offers plates and set menus with options like Korean Barbecue, Hot Pots, Bibimbap, Jap Chae, Tteokbokki and various Korean noodles. Playful creations are not found here but clean, straight-forward Korean cuisine. This new kid on the block does the classics well, with slightly more polished service (though foreigners) than many established spots in town. But let's be frank, it would not a cheap meal here but the quality and attentive service set it apart from its competitors.
MAMA BOWL MENU look very interesting for me...and yummy....I have seen all my lovely food - shrimp, tomyam, butter.............
This is my favorite Korea KimChi Pancake. Really taste solid and full of kimchi spicy smell.
BBQ in Love Cafe, Raja Uda - this cafe look very romantic
The food here is awesome good!
One of the few Korean restaurants at Butterworth- Da Ohn Da Korean Restaurant is the brand's only branch in Penang (HQ in Ipoh); similar to most Korean restaurants, it offers a wide range of Korean delights including barbecue, Hot Pot, Rice and Noodle dishes. There are however, some uncommonly seen Korean dishes here. Prices seem to be friendlier than most established Korean restaurants in Penang but the interior decor is less-impressive. It looks exactly like an ordinary restaurant in the neighborhood (the only thing Korean about this place is the Korean drama posters adorning the walls). The lack of proper ventilation system makes the place smoky so be prepared to face the smoke odor after a meal here at Da Ohn Da. To find Da Ohn Da Korean restaurant- from Raja Uda, turn into the road opposite to Kwong Wah Primary School. You will find the Korean restaurant on your left shortly.

For a no-frills Thai Mookata experience, look no further than this curious space at Automall, Karpal Singh Drive. Affordably priced at Rm 19.90 for a basic set (serves 2), budget watchers can now enjoy delicious Thai Steamboat at unbeatable price, well-complemented with sea breeze. The simple set includes some basic meat balls, greens and meat but those with a deeper pocket can always top up extra few dollars for the additional spread. Bangkok Garden BBQ is not air-conditioned and instead, it relies on the sea breeze so the best time to visit would probably in the evening. The serving portion is not that great but it would be perfectly fine to be served as supper in lieu of a proper meal. Bangkok Garden BBQ can be found right next to Sae Ma Eul Korean BBQ Restaurant.
