On the other hand, Basque Burnt Cheese Cake (RM 14) has an overall nice taste, retaining a nice custardy and creamy texture in the centre, though the crisp and burnt sensation was lacking at the exterior.
Here's the location.
I went for the fish & chips, sea bass (RM38.00)…the instant I saw in the menu that it wasn’t dory and yes, it was really good.
Sarawak Kolomee (second famous food in the shop) RM5.00 – dried thin noodles serves with red pork slices and prawn. The noodle itself is springy while covered with fragrant oily shallot and onion flavor, has a very smooth texture which makes you keep slurping for more similar like having a bowl of Indomee (but premium ones in this case), while the generous amount of pork slices and prawn toppings just made the overall kolomee even more enjoyable. 😉
I remember having the kolo mee here before and it was good and that morning, I asked for the special (RM6.00)…and even though I would not say it was the best in town, it was definitely kolo mee, not kampua mee in disguise.
We ordered Cheezy Chicken (RM 16.90) to fill our stomach as there was no main dishes. It features bahn mi / baguette stuffed with chicken slices, cheese and egg. Clearly the food was prepared early and get heated using microwave, as the surface still feel lukewarm while the interior filling is hot. The taste was monotonous, and the overall texture was dry. Not something that I would look for during second visit.
The texture of Cornetti Honey Butter Croissant (RM 9.90) was lovely - flaky at the exterior with a nice honeycomb air pockets interior, though stronger butter scent would have made the croissant perfect.
I was delighted to see that they had this black glutinous rice (pulut hitam) served with rich and creamy santan (coconut milk) dessert (RM5.00)…They had the santan in circles and they probably ran a toothpick across the lines to make a floral design but it did not matter – after all, the test of the pudding is in the eating and I must say, it…was really very nice and I enjoyed it to the max.
One of my cousins told me the following day that their traditional Hakka handmade noodles from this stall there…was nice so I went back on another morning to give it a try…
The menu has an extensive dishes to offer and one of the must try here is their Fried Three Layer Meat. The pork meat was fried perfectly, retaining an excellent texture yet not sebaceous surprisingly. Dip it with the sambal served to give a slight spicy and tangy sensation.
I also had their red rubies, topped with the same coconut ice cream…instead of santan and yes, it was good – a whole lot nicer than the disastrous one that I had at that Thai franchise place in Miri.
The pork dumpling is made of a trio combination of pork, shrimp, and fish which has a rather hard yet moist texture (feels like chewing onto a Hong Kong dim sum beef balls), delicious aftertaste still lingering inside your mouth right after savoring it, just hard to resists if you’re not ordering another plate of it!
