If you planning to visit Restoran Siaw Kwee, this is Claypot Salted Fish with Pork Belly is a must order. What we like about this is the balanced taste and the tender texture of the pork belly. Overall this is spot on and when it is served in the claypot, you can smell the aroma of the pork and the salted fish. Remember to mix everything together to combine the flavours and this goes well with the rice.
Google and check out Restaurant Siaw Kwee 加影萧家辣汤 as it is one of the recommended ones in links and decided to try it out. Since heard many of my friends mention that Kajang is famous for “Lat Thong” (spicy soup on my own interpretation).
This is a dish that is unique to this restaurant. I have not seen this kind of preparation in any other restaurant. The ribs were large and meaty and the salted egg batter was heavenly. A must try dish at this restaurant. For the portion, I felt that the price was acceptable despite this being much higher than the other dishes that we had this afternoon. Taste wise, I would rate this at 10/10.
We don’t dare to say this is the best pork noodles we tasted but we enjoyed the taste. If you are staying in Kajang, maybe you tried their pork noodles or if you have not, give it a try. The owners are honest people and we have been patronizing them for years.
Char Kuey Teow @ RM 6.00 The Char Kuey Teow stall is located near the entrance. He makes it the Penang way and I find the flavours to be pretty good. In fact, it's one of the good ones that I have come across in Kajang. He doesn't add cockles, but he does add some Fish Cake, Shrimps and Bean Sprouts. 8/10 would be my rating for this dish.
Overall, Restoran Cheong Kee Bak Kut Teh Kajang is comfort food and that is the reason why I will come back from time to time. You can find many regular customers coming back from time to time. Price wise it is competitive since the price of pork has gone up significantly over the past few years.
Bak Kut Teh @ RM 13.00. For the price, the portion was good and it came with a mix of lean meat (you could ask for bone or other cuts as well), Button Mushrooms, Enoki Mushrooms, Fuchok and some Tofupok. I felt that the soup here had a slightly stronger body compared to Hock Kee and overall as a total dish, it was very satisfying. Loved the mix of ingredients and the tea as well. My rating for this shall be 8/10.
Loong Curry Kopitiam Taman Berjaya Kajang is definitely a hidden gam. Parking can be a challenge during peak hours but there are always parking a few minutes away. The curry mee is up to expectation and will come back for more.
The Scrambled Eggs were delicious and so was their Sweet & Sour Pork. Both were made with generous amounts of ingredients and they tasted excellent. My rating shall be 9/10 for both.
This is no longer a secret. Now you know where we hang out most of the time in Kajang for our favourite pork noodles stall. It is at Tien Tien Pork Noodles Restoran 6868 Ikan Bakar at Sg Chua. This is really affordable and good comfort food in Sg Chua Kajang.
Similarly, the Salted Egg Pork Ribs was another excellent dish. Very generous with the salted egg and the ribs wasn't all bone either. It had a fair balance of bone, meat and fat which made it an awesome dish. 10/10 shall be my rating for this dish.
Overall, what you pay is what you get. The food here is consistently good, service is good and this is the reason we frequently dine at Noodle by GD Taste Pearl Avenue Kajang.
I usually prefer not to have Mee Hoon Soup simply because most places fail to impress me with their soup. However, this was not the case here. The soup itself was really good and that made it a very satisfying meal. Once again, the Fish Balls were awesome. As a total dish, I was very happy with this bowl of noodles and my rating for this shall be 9/10.
This Seoul Kimuchi Noodles is my all time favourite at this restaurant. The broth is one that is perfectly suited to my taste buds. It's on the spicy side and is mildly sour. Along with that, the mix of ingredients that you get are quite amazing. Lots of anchovies are added to this dish as well and that gives it an extra punch. Not forgetting their homemade Mushroom Pork Balls which as simply out of this world. My overall rating for this dish shall be 9/10 and specifically for those Mushroom Pork Balls, 10/10.
I felt that their Chili Pan Mee was good. The noodles itself was soft and springy and it came with lots of minced pork and anchovies. The egg was made just right as well. Portions were good as well. Initially, I took just a little of their Chili Flakes and after tasting it, I found it to be not too spicy. So, I added more subsequently to suit my taste buds. For those who love their Chili Pan Mee to be spicy, you could boldly add three teaspoons full of their Chili Flakes. That was how much I had needed to get it to my desired level. Nevertheless, the overall dish was quite tasty. My rating for this shall be 8/10
Similarly, their Steamed Fish with Bird Eye Chilies was another excellent preparation. The mix of sauces were just awesome and as a total dish, it was really good. 9/10 shall be my rating for both the dishes.
