After what seemed like forever (when it comes to wantan mee), I was losing hope and close to losing it when I look at other table's noodles. Fortunately, the noodles did redeem themselves by being springy with the right amount of sauce. Of course, their char siew is da bomb. Caramelized fat, crispy skin, sweet savory guilty pleasure.
While the Wantan Mee was quite delicious, the star of the dish is no doubt the Char Siew. The Char Siew here wasn’t overly sweet and was caramelized well. The Char Siew was so tender it almost melts in your mouth. It was superb and complements the noodles wonderfully.
Meng Kee is famous for their pork belly BBQ (char siew) which has been in Glenmarie, Shah Alam for quite a while. Now they have expanded their business into noodles and seafood restaurant at the opposite side of the main Meng Kee restaurant. If you not manage to taste their char siew during day time, you can try it at night for dinner at this noodles shop. The meat is more lean and not as fatty when compared to the main Meng Kee shop.
Its on the spicy side and the signature curry chicken was definitely good.
Came nicely in a cute wok, nice colours and presentation. Damn they got something good going on here. Love the whole dish, absolutely delicious.
overall good enough to start the morning!
I love their chee cheong fun (猪肠粉). Wrapped in it is a mixture of sengkuang (jicama) and dried shrimps. It is delicious. This chee cheong fun is a must-try if you ever get there.
That aside, the curry gravy was aromatic, thick and rich in flavour. Squeeze some lime juice in to give the curry some zest. Pretty decent, but it was quite oily. My mother would have fainted at the sight of so much oil.
Asam laksa was good and so was their prawn mee below. Honestly I think they do decent bowls of noodles they serve here. Prawn noodles I added the fried fish ball and taupok, superb!
For only RM 6.50, this delicious Siam Mee Laksa is definitely worth going back for more. The broth has a strong fresh herb flavour as a result of hours of preparation and what gives it an extra kick, is the small plate of 'Har Ko' or shrimp paste sauce served alongside the bowl. What I like most is the thick and spicy broth, like an explosion of flavours with every sip offering strong fragrant flavours.
A hidden gem in Glenmarie Industrial Park is this coffee shop which serves noodles such as curry mee, Ipoh hor hee, prawn noodle and asam la...
Rice with curry sauce, sambal, white cabbage and of course the juicy fried chicken! This plate cost me RM9.50 because the fried chicken itself is RM6.50. Wow! It is indeed pricey but once in a blue moon, still acceptable for the fried chicken.
I first blogged about this well-known Fried Chicken way back in 2008 (read that here). Mr Lim started his business as a stall in Wong Soon Kee Kopitiam in SS14 Subang Jaya and the queues for his fried chicken snaked all the way along the five-foot-way outside. I have been a fan all these years, [...…
Verdict: Still one of the tastiest fried chickens I’ve eaten.
The overpriced "Cham" which the kopitiam calls it "Cham 1+1" at $2.50 per small cup overrated!
my breakfast today was steam wholemeal bread with margarine.
The Croissant Ham & Cheese as breakfast brought me to Thong Kee Glenmarie again.

Nevertheless, maybe roasted duck is their signature as the name of the shop is 庆隆脆皮燒鸭面飯館.
The Vada is an Indian Vegetarian meal where the recipe has been around for a long time, said to be already existing for many centuries in Southern India which is often eaten as snacks or as an accompaniment to another dish.
Another thing worth mentioning is they blend up a good glass of 3 layer tea, definitely worth trying!
This shop also offers Nasi Kukus and 烧腊 roasted pork/chasiew but likely for lunch. Hawker stalls opens in the morning are nooddles (pork), claypot noodles (yee mee/rat noodles), and hand-made pan mee.
This is one of the Chinese Kopitiam that seems to have a good crowd in the morning.
The kopitiam offers a variety of noodles, from fish, pork, to dumplings in vareity of soup based including tom yam, dry or soup variants.
奶白 Nai Bak vegetable dish recommended by the lady boss was also not bad, it's garnished with tiny fried anchovies.
The Egg Noodles were springy and good and the amount of sauces provided were quite generous. Overall, I would certainly have to agree that this is a good plate of Wantan Mee. My rating for this shall be 8/10
Well, this had all the hallmarks of a sticky, sweet, tender char siew that Meng Kee is famous for, so I guess it passes the test! ^_~
Well, this had all the hallmarks of a sticky, sweet, tender char siew that Meng Kee is famous for, so I guess it passes the test! ^_~ Would I drive all the way from KL just to savour Meng Kee's char siew? Certainly not! Probably can detour here if I so happen to be somewhere in PJ. But, then again, I don't have to. I've got a similar one in Uncle Meng near me that's just as good as Meng Kee's.
