Oh man, let me tell you about my faves from the menu! First, there's the emperor chicken with herbs - it's so tender and packed with flavor, you won't be able to get enough.
Ambience at Goldleaf Restaurant is modern and functional. The brightly lit place with ample natural light is minimally decorated, with modern furnishings lined neatly within the spacious seating area.
If you have not made any arrangements for the upcoming Mother’s Day, get in touch with Goldleaf. Other set menus are also available. Cheers!!
I must agree that it's not the same vibes anymore but still the history of this Confectionery remains. You still can at least get some guaranteed delicious taste of nostalgia from Chin Mee Chin.
The cream puff looks different – very regularly shaped. The place looks different. Just like any other old school cafe now. Coffee and cream puff taste good though.
CMC or Chin Mee Chin Confectionery along East Coast Road is an iconic coffeeshop for kaya toast and coffee and other treats.
Can’t call it Joe’s anymore – Sin Hoi Sai Eating House it is from now on
Sin Hoi Eating House @ East Coast Road is a favourite of the Kennett’s - amazing food on East Coast. It’s family, it’s so reasonable, it’s delicious.

As the in-house Chinese restaurant dining option of the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy hotel, Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant has been delighting diners since April 2013. Serving quality modern Chinese dishes made with fresh ingredients, Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant is an under-the-radar dining destination for exquisite and well-executed comfort food.
Chinese executive chef of Jiawei, Victor Lee, has come up with new dishes after being inspired to support local food production. You can savour these new additions at Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant, located at Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy, from 15 April 2022.
I would still recommend here for family dinner and group gatherings as the food here is worth the price in terms of quality and portion.
Beach Road Prawn Noodle House 美芝律大虾面 is one of the most famous hae mee shops in Singapore. We went to have prawn mee lunch at East Coast Road recently in 2022 to see how things have changed since our last post in 2015.
I have not been to Beach Road Prawn Mee on East Coast Rd in such a long time. When I first came to Singapore in 2006, it was one of the first places that was introduced to me. It has to be at least 8 years since I have been here.
Beach Road Prawn Mee serves up an amazing bowl of prawn noodles – the broth was robust, the prawns were crunchy, and the pork ribs were super tender.
The coffee shop has another overflow shop space where more seatings are available to cater for the crowds of Laksa and Wanton Mee Patrons. Do you enjoy black sauce Wanton Noodles too?
Bonus: you can dine in air-conditioned comfort and given its great location, leave time to explore the Katong enclave after your wanton mee treat.
I was so surprised by the stall owner shouting the queue number in his booming voice, that I dropped my phone on the floor.
The soup was really nice, savoury, umami and slightly peppery and smoky, yet refreshing with seafood and pork flavours. The meatballs and minced meat were tender and fresh with a slight peppery flavour. The cabbage was crisp and clam or lala qq, and the bee hoon was soft while retaining bite. Good stuff.
Chef Darwin Wong’s Cheeky Bee Hoon in Katong is a humble eatery with delectable comfort food at pocket-friendly prices.
Overall, Cheeky Bee Hoon offers a good option in Katong for a casual meal with their handmade beehoon dishes. Prices are affordable where the dishes are generally quite good.
Overall, we enjoy the classic Cantonese dishes. Most of the dishes are good, however, the Steamed Fish Head and Steamed Minced Pork with Salted Fish stands out above the rest. Totally enjoyed the dinner here and looking forward to our next visit. Cheers!!
we had a great time ourselves, unperturbed by the poor service attitude
fish head very fresh, tasty and it was humongous very meaty so though it was S$25 c/w with S$16 at other zichar or food centre, i think it was quite worthwhile.
Explore the culinary delights of Tim Ho Wan i12, where dim sum dreams come true. Mouthwatering Cantonese cuisine and flavors in every bite
Tim Ho Wan i12 has Head Chef Mak Kwai Pui. It originated in Hong Kong and has a Michelin Guide entry. But it replaced our beloved Din Tai Fung or Yi Dian Xin.
Overall, I find there has been an improvement in the food quality of THW.
Jin Wee Restaurant Siglap has been there forever and is renowned for its charcoal chicken soup cooked in massive earthenware urns at the front
S, Y and I met up for dinner at Jin Wee Restaurant in Siglap a few weeks back. Don't be deceived by the name of this dining establishment as it is in reality an old-school Hainanese-run coffeeshop located close to the 24 hour NTUC outlet in Siglap. This place has been around for as long as I can remember and is constantly crowded especially at peak hours so go early to avoid disappointment.
Peranakan Inn & Lounge Review
This is by far the most ridiculous experience I ever had in any restaurant in Singapore.
I will be back to Fu Lin Tou Fu Yuen for more of this sinful goodness!
BBQ Box Katong 195 East Coast Road Chicken, Pork, Beef, Lamb, Pork Skin, Tendon are some of the meat options available to order
Another hearty meal under The Paradise Group, another delightful gathering with family!
Canton Paradise 112 Katong, with its wide selection of reasonably priced food and large pleasant space, can be a good restaurant in Katong for a simple cosy meal or a more elaborate affair with the family or a large dining party.
On the whole, if the dishes have a bigger portion, it would be great. Taste-wise, we liked almost everything we tasted. And the variety of dishes is wide: there is something for everyone. My top three recommended dishes are roasts, Szechuan soup and tofu.
I'm not a carbs person, but I finished this already generous bowl of "kway".
So Good Char Chan Tang at i12 Katong Mall offers you a real Hong Kong cha chan teng experience in a pleasant comfortable environment. There is a great variety on the menu and the prices are affordable. Their set meals are good value for money.

Even though it isn’t super famous, Kipo draws a constant crowd and has been around for more than a decade.
A nice bowl of Teochew beef noodles and soup with all the beefiness I like. Unique dry version with special house made chili sauce.
With a dish that has withstood the test of time(over four generations), David and Melissa are carrying on the legacy of sending out comforting bowls of beef kway teow the Hock Lam way.
Give this quiet sibling of Hock Lam a try the next time you’re in the mood for beef noodles with a clean broth and stellar chilli sauce.
Brunners Coffeeshop Katong is an affordable alternative weekend brunch destination.
